I’ve been a member here on VSC for a few years now, but, I wasn’t committed the style 100% until recently. Maybe it was the fact that I didn’t own a “Platform” or that I live in NYC and the roads here aren’t forgiving on Low cars… This is my official introduction to VSC…
Here is how I previously had my car modified. I typically like to do an overall modified car (suspension, brakes, wheels, interior, exterior, lighting and ICE). That was on springs and shocks and that was my daily drive height around NYC Metro Area…

I have been waiting to see this thing done for a while. I ask that you don't put out specs to avoid any number chasing that typically goes on message forums. Just know that these wheels would need some minor work to a RWD Infininti Y33 Q (king of dish in the vip world) to fit and the beautiful part is he bought them that way new so he knew what he was getting into. This is a FWD car
Once completed, he will have achieved "swagger" fitment.
Swagger fitment- excessively wide widths front and rear with offsets that require major body work to fit

I typically like to do an overall modified car (suspension, brakes, wheels, interior, exterior, lighting and ICE).

nice !!!! now thats whats up. i got respect for anybody pushing limits on a front wheel drive. i like how you got rid of the amber in the headlights, and that suede job is just sick. i just picked up on some suede myself. im about to test my upholstery skills out a bit. being that im only partial to the style, im thinking i will probably like your first set of wheels minus the bling better though.
if its still not low enough for you once you have it all layed out, a ron jon kit would be a nice upgrade over the factory option. well i dont know...if your going 100% vip style you might prefer something less sporty for your taste, but i have always like this tl right here out of florida with it.

Nate is definitely doing his thing... dude is fast... he's had the car since Tuesday... and all the fenders are done...
Aftermathacura:
Thanks man... I appreciate the comment. I'm definitely going for a more classy sleek look... the Ron Jon kit is just too sporty and bulky for this type of build.... this build is just temporary to get me through the summer... I have other plans that is going to transform this car to next level... I've been consulting with AGI :thelaw: and brainstorming ideas...
I'm doing some things to give it a unique look and make it look lower... :giggity:
TREW's car is sick... he definitely did his thing with it... I've been trying to convince him to flush-out those wheels... :innoutrofl2: I've been following his build... he's a real cool dude...

I'm not absolutely sure how the bodyman executed the body to accomodate the wheels... I'm assuming theat he pulled and radiused and then added sheet metal to replicate the OEM look with his own flava... I know that I was poking 40 to 45mm up front and 55 to 60mm in the rear... The only thing I told the guy was "just make it work with an OEM look"...
I'll verify exactly what he did when I speak to him...

Thats beautiful. Nice details shaving the side rear parking light. Very light on the bondo and he kept the factory lines on the quarters. It just looks like a high performance version TL similiar to how the M3 and M5 have wider flares then the standard 3 and 5 series. He did a great job flaring out the sides of the rear lip too to go with the flares. Should look sick once molded in.

When it was time to go home, I wasnt sure if I wanted to be in the T-XL (so women in other cars could see what I am associated with) or be in my other friends car (so I could stare at the ride the whole way back). At the end, I didn't make the pimp decision because I couldn't turn down staring at that nice ass.
Tell Franklin thanks for the Brugal, I got him next time

No... the upper section of the bumper isn't molded to the quarter panel. Cell phone pictures typically don't have enough detail to see the actual line, it's still there... I just permanently fused the Type S rear lip to the rear bumper.
Thanks Kurt... I appreciate your support... :runcoold: I'm glad you like what was done to the car...

I rarely ever post on this site, given that I own nothing worth talking about. I am so very impressed by this car that I could not help the impulse to comment. This car is STUNNING, the execution is absolutely fantastic, and the multitude of small detailed changes to bring about a tremendous visual transformation are most impressive. Sir, I must commend you on one of the most inspiring cars that I have seen on any forum that I am a member. I appreciate you sharing this type of project, it is certainly motivation and inspiration for those of us who aspire to such vehicles to go out and get hustling. Bravo!

Damn wtf, another clean car out of NY. Those are one of my favorite wheels. Makes your TL the best I've seen. The body work also looks really good.

Here's what I love about this Ride... Sometimes we get a lil uptight here on VSC about platform... when execution is key... we see more and more cars breaking the VIP "STYLE" Platform mold in Japan, but fail to except them here... this car seems to have pushed the outer edges of that mold further... I think this captures the essence of the style well. As the saying goes; "imitation is the best form of flattery", and this ride flatters the hell out of what we all respect and love about the style..... break the mold, perfect your execution......

I get a lot of requests for ride height pictures...
It all depends on the neighborhood and/or area of NYC I'm driving... I have the presets on the Dakota controller to adjust depending on area...
Here I jus rolled in to this Acura Meet and wanted to fit in without hurting any feelings...
I'm trying to get a video done on the Cross Bronx Expwy, BQE, Grand Central, FDR and West Side Highway....

Looks fat as.... But one thing i would like to see (not just aimed at you, it seems to be the standard on US built vip cars), is to put the bevelled edge back on the rear fender. i.e. pull it a bit more so it looks over done, then weld a flat, stock looking edge on the end of it to get it back flush; ends up looking much less drifter styled IMO.

yo rodney , you have the sickist tl i have ever seen!!! the only thing i could suggest to improve it would be to some how find or custom fit a front lip that dosent angle upward in the middle. on cars that are bagged, its sick when you cant even fit your shoe underneath them.
watching this build ,and seeing your execution to detail in so many areas, i could only image what you would have done to a ka9.
another thing , i dont know how you guys do this style so hard-core driving around all those jacked up roads. much respect to all up there. yall are definately putting the luxury scene on the map out that way.:boweek5:

I do agree about adding bevels to the flares but maybe next paint job. 2nd the recommendation to add a custom front lip.
Keep up the great work!

I have some plans for the front... I just didn't go through with it cause I wanted the car out the shop ASAP... plus funds where running real low towards the end. The little misc. things tend to add up and it's stuff people don't see or even notice. It just give me something to do next time around... it's just going to be labor cause I have the parts sitting in storage.
I actually went to an Acura dealership yesterday and the Techs and Salesmen couldn't tell the changes made to the car. All they asked if I rolled my fenders to fit the wheels and if the car was a Type S... :smiley-rofl:
So far so good... NYC streets have been gentle with me... I don't let it stop me though...

I wanted the bevel... but incorporating it would have meant a more drastic (Horizontally) arch to the body pull. It would have meant that the widening would have been more noticeable. Nate at Dreamakers did a get job at arching the fenders to run parallel to the suspension travel while keeping the factory line of the fender arch. I drive low (fenders almost touching wheel lip) with absolutely no rubbing. He achieved exactly what I wanted.

I respect your opinion but a platform car would not have had the same impact as this car. Everything has been done already in Japan to the platform cars and people here are really stepping up their games with them as well.
Its like seeing a bunch of spanish strippers with fat asses. At first you're in awe. After seeing 10 back to back to back, your still in awe but then this one asian girl comes in the room and her ass is just as fat. That came out of no where and you didn't expect it. See what I am getting at?

Basically what agi said. Also to add, the US doesn't have as many platform options so if you have to blur the lines abit to get a luxury class platform that is not considered a VIP platform to fit your build then by all means do it. As long as it is executed properly.:rules:

Sick car, and I love the interior. When I first saw the test fit of the wheels and saw the poke I knew it wouldn't be a problem to get them to fit properly. I had the same issue (in the rear) on my G35. A few degrees of camber and a major fender pull solved it, but I really need to go the route you did with the flared fenders.
Did you just have the quarter panels and fenders repainted or did you do the entire car?

I had the same issue (in the rear) on my G35. A few degrees of camber and a major fender pull solved it, but I really need to go the route you did with the flared fenders.
Did you just have the quarter panels and fenders repainted or did you do the entire car?
Only thing not painted was parts that were not touched ---> Hood, Roof, Mirrors and Trunk Lid... Everything else was painted....
Thanks again guys for the Support... =)

this car is so nice... i love all the custom work done. It does look a bit awkward at parked height with the rear tucked but at this height it looks perfect!

Sick work, I love how your amps kinda hang there. How'd you mount them? (Or is that a secret) LOL

Thanks guys...
The amps are on a custom bracket welded together, that bolt up to the rear deck and the rigidity frame that's behind the rear seat. The bracket also doubled as a battery stay/holder for the second battery on the system that's behind the amps. The installer did his thing with it. Very simplistic really.
My boy Vlad (spyder78) shot a video of a few VIP Styled cars around NYC and I had the pleasure to be invited. He gave me this little clip and I decided to post it... LOL...
