I'm sorry man, but please stop calling your cars by their japanese counterparts. You owned a Q45 and you own an M45, that's what they are. I wish my Q45 was a Cima with all its nice features, but who are we kidding. Anyway, JIC makes quality coilovers, if your worried about shipping wait times, check with the VSC vendors to get them for you quickly.

I've been talking to a few guys from eliteautosalon and they can get some jic magic x lowering springs that are a little bit lower than the espiler springs and many more other suspension setups.

And yes they are a vendor on the board.

I spoke with Mike at JIC a while back, and they will need $500 for the core charge for the spindles, apparently they will need to special order from Japan and they will need to know the type of spindles that are on the Y34 M (03-04). The whole process takes approx 8 weeks. So, it sounds like the front JIC setup will come with an entirely new spindle setup from Japan. Total cost is somewhere near $2100 and that doesn't include labor. You may be able to discuss a custom spring rate.

FLT-A2 VIP Luxury Vehicle Coilover
I've always been curious to see how the rear coil over is setup on our Y34s since it sits in a seat as opposed to the conventional rear setup that has the strut surrounded by the actual spring.
Some post a pic of a rear setup on a Y34 if possible. thx

hey lets do a group buy - i am int. in coils only if they are cheap (1500 max) if not let all get air runner or some air suspension , 4 sales for full suspension i think that we might have some buying power ?
thoughts ?
count me in for a group purchase ?

i wouldnt mind doing air runner... but the discount would have to be ridiculous... like 50% off
If we could find coils for affordable price that would be clutch!

I hope you do not mind me sticking my snout in this one, but I've seen the y34 with staggered 19 here in town and the guy who owned the car told me that he WISHES he hadn't wasted money on the 19's.
Now, in my opinion and my opinion only.... a set of staggered 20's are perfect for this car. Not 19s,21s and definitely not 22s
If you are considering getting the 19's in order to lower the car more……….Well, keep in mind that if you aren't getting the entire JIC or full coil over set with struts that can handle the drop…then stop. Lowering this car beyond 1.2-1.4 on oem struts will ruin your struts over time, plus with oem struts and that dramatic drop...it will ruin your camber and you'll be swapping tires after 5,000-7500 miles. I know this because I've experienced this with another car, so don't play yourself out unless you are willing to go the extra mile and do the setup correctly or you will pay out the ASS! If you are going to do it all the way......get the JICs,AIR or the coilover set of your choice and do staggered 20's. Leave the 19's for the G35 and the conservative M35 drivers. Just my opinion

Im done even thinking about 19s...
I just need to stop being scared and do this...
Any idea on suspension technique springs? I called local shop, they will have a set in 2-4 weeks.... half the price of espelir... but i hate trying new things, tend to waste alot of money that way

DAN put it this was if you buy a higher end rim (USED) (leons,AME,trafficstar ,ETC <ETC )($ 2200 to $2900 range) in 20 inch and you don't like it you can down grade to 19($1900 to $2500) with out spending any coin and you might still have money back in your pocket , if you were to go with 19 and you are not happy you gotta spend more money to upgrade (Finding some one to down grade while you up grade is hard ) BUT down grading is size should not be an issues in my opinion i am going to down grade next year once i get the air done and i am bored !

I've heard of the suspension technique beinng available for this Y34 car, but I've yet to see them on anyones ride. Suspsnsion Technique was a good source for some of the SUV guys back in the day, so they have a decent reputation in rspects to lowering an SUV.

Having been around the M circuit for a while, which stockstar has been too, ive found out that the main problem with getting parts for this car has been the fact that it had relatively no aftermarket support, and being a face that wasn't popular, most manufacturers never made any parts for it.
as far as i am concerned, eibach is the only company that made the springs stateside, anything else is vaporware or mislabeled.
Please look at your link, and confirm again, and again....that this is not for the newer M. I would hate for u to remove the spindles only to realize it doesnt fit

Definitely something to consider. I'd hate to see or hear of someone installing any ole spring on their car. There are a couple of think that concern me about that pdf that DTDM posted. They spelled "Infiniti" wrong and they listed the spring for the 02- thru............. gods knows what for the M45

Its a spring rate issue I believe, plus one car weighs more than the other.

hmm the the Tanabe sustec would be the same for the 03 m45 as it would be the 02 Q an up. I am curious if it is including the spindle? or is it a weld on affair. I will ask my vendor if no one knows.

You should look into getting some bc racing coilovers, less than half the price of jic .
well worth coilovers if you ask me!!!!

BC? like BC cam company??
A good friend of mine is a journeymen machinist for the shipyard and have a cnc lathe, we were thinking about making internal threaded sleeve tubes, weld them on the spindles and use custom ordered coilover shock inserts and spring rates. To sell to a few select customers. I dont like the Idea of mass producing for a couple reasons. I dont want everyone to have it, and it makes it more exclusive this way.
I was going to do this for the sus on my car. I will keep you guys informed. Not sure what rules and regulations are on that for this thread..

Ok so the spring rate is an issue, but would the strut work? I wanted to pick up jdm y34 coilovers, and custom bag it? Would that be a fix? Or is there other factors to take into consideration

here are a list of factors that you have to consider before going the chep route ..
UAS= $2400 + install and FAB =approx ($3000) plus you will be using ome's struts they will not GO low in the fronts with your stock spindle + your car already has about 40 000 miles on it if i am correct soo the struts are almost dead ....( UAS works best with JIC coilovers ) JIC + UAS =$5000 and your car will be flat on the ground ... <<(BEST OPTION BUT MOST EXPENSIVE)
Air Runner = $4000 Ish bolt on and drive ..had every thing you need (take in mind that the brand new spindles from nissan with your sruts are about $500. BETTER OPTION CUS YOU HAVE ALL YOU RELLY NEED ..BRAND NEW ..
I am not here to change VIP or make worse you need to consider and work out what is best for you and your price range ..i will advise you to save your money and do it once do it right .. JIC COILS/ UAS OR AIR RUNNER OR ANOTHER SECRET PROJECT THAT I AM DOING :)...
i know a few guys who spent $3500 doing uas and adding , cutting, +++ and they are still not done the entire car ..(f50 and y34 ) are the most trickest .
hope this help you ....and that is the main reason why i sarted a air runner group buy a few month ago to get a discount for ever one ..
Good luck with your decision after all money talks( cash = what ever you want .. and happy endings too ..)

Or is there other factors to take into consideration[/QUOTE] here are a list of factors that you have to consider before going the chep route ..
Thanks for all the info, its really help a lot, cuz I rather be stock, while I save money to do it right how I want it the first time, than rush into a cheaper alternative, hopefully by the end of the year ill have everything to start building my car in one shot, wheels, suspension, aero, interior, audio, ect

well worth coilovers if you ask me!!!!
They only have applications for G35/G37 per website, might have to call for updates.

Yes, the V8 version Y34 vs. the V6 version Y34 is a definate issue when it comes to lower springs. There is a weight issue between the two cars that you'll need to consider. Do not dare use the V6 spec springs for your V8 US Y34.:runcoold: Im not really qualified to answer the later part of your question about the bags, struts, etc... sorry. All I can say is that anything that is adverised for the Japanesse V6 y34 will suck on the US V8 version Y34.

Short answer, yes the dampners would work fine with UAS on em, since the bags give you the ability to have variable rates. If you DD them high or low, then revalving the dampners would be a good idea. Otherwise find somethin in between the dampners ability when setting your height.

A definate issue?? And vvvvv

Why could one "not dare" to do exactly that??
Apparently you find anything I say offensive, so before you start getting all hurt by what I'm about to say. This ain't in no way aimed at you or am I picking on you. This is info based off info I've found, and my thought process, that I'm sharing to anyone looking to use Glo/Ced springs on an M.
From what I could find online in a quick search, a US Y34's curb weight is 3851lbs and a Japanese one can range anywhere from 1580kg(3483lbs) to 1730kg(3813lbs) depending on engine and drivetrain (FR or AWD). Basically the AWD weighs as much as the US version. Even if they built the springs based off the lightest Y34's they have there, its only a 400lb difference between there's and ours. And when they build these, the have to take into consideration the car weight that much bone stock at the factory. People start puttin in systems, monitors, more than one passenger, a full gas tank, all that adds up, and surely passes the 3851lbs ours are. 400lbs is only 2-3 friends worth of weight, average. Most people ride solo more than they got passengers, so it ain't like you're maxin em out all the time.
My guess is, when they build their springs, the might do them somewhere in between max and min weights, unless they offer different rates for different cars, IDK I don't own a Y34 and never looked into it. If ya really picky about a couple lbs difference, gut it out. Take some of that sound deadening out, remove the spare tire, jack, run half a tank, no windshield washer fluid, or lose weight if ya got extra. It does all add up, and if you're that picky about a lil lbs here and there, then any of those places would be a good place to start.

:smiley-rofl: Nice disclaimer, but not to worry. There is nothing on the internet that offends or hurts me, especially on a car forum:innoutrofl2:
I appreciate all the foot work on the weights of the cars, but I still say that the engine weight on the V6 vs. the V8 will make some difference. The car will sit uneven. Plus, I own the V8 Y34 aka 2003-2004 M45 and Im speaking from experience. I've tried multiple combinations in the past and I'm correct in my findings. You cant argue that! See.....your info is based off your own personal findings on the internet and personal thoughts, but my info is based on actually trying different spings and riding in the car. Now who's hurt

Well speaking from experience, you should be able to help your guys out and tell em how much of a drop they'll get with all these different set ups you've tried. So the Eibachs you're rollin on now are made for the "V8 Y34 aka 2003-2004 M45"??
And trust homie, I ain't offened by ANYTHING you say. I was just offerin advice for what seems to be an issue in lowering these cars. I don't have to help y'all out. But that's what a forum is for, to help people out with similar interests.

Good, now we're getting somewhere. That's a lot more helpful, telling people there are springs available and by who, than telling them
StockStar;306119 wrote:Do not dare use the V6 spec springs for your V8 US Y34
That sounds like if their car is going to break, or the springs just could not hold up the car at all, if they "dared" use those springs.
