big problem with a seller on here.....

hi guys, i didnt want it to come to this, but it has. Some of you might know that a member on this site had for sale a set of JIC coilovers for a 90 - 94 ls400. From discussing with this seller, i purchased the product.... well i thought i did. 

I later found out that someone else had bought the coilovers i was buying, and i was going to be given a set from japan. I found this out after i was told the product was mailed and should be at my door soon. After 2 months i questioned where my product was and then got the answer he hasnt sent them. From this point i was wondering whether or not i have been scammed or what was going on? :sad:

I talked to the seller over this site for another month trying to work out when my coilovers were comming. he assured me that they were waiting in japan to be posted. I waited another month for my product before i started getting nervous. He offered me a partial refund and i would still recieve the coilovers. Over the space of a 3 weeks, he asked me for my address 3 times and asked how much he is giving me back. At one point he didnt know what i bought off him. It has now been 6 months and i am yet to recieve any money or coilovers!

I think i have been very fair and patient with this certain seller, just waiting for my product to arrive. The last email i sent to him was 2 weeks ago and i have no heard from him since. I transferred the money through paypal and becuase i sent the money so long ago i cannot be refunded. 

I dont knowwhether he thinks that becuase i am in a different country he doesnt have to forfill his requirements or what, but you could understand how i feel. after waiting 6 months to get new coilovers on my car i have lost interest in continuing my vip project and i am without $800USD for a set of coilovers that are never going to come. 

So [U]brianstyles[/U], i hope you spend my money more wisely than what i did in sending it to you for a fake product, and i assure you i will never be buying anything of you again.

Not sure how much support u'll get from VSC (if any) but its good to let other members know to protect themselves.

Sorry to hear that. And thanks for the heads up. There are a few shady people on here who will screw you...just remember for the most part people on here are pretty legit. Hope this experience doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth about VSC.

Hey man, it's always a downer to hear about people getting screwed on deals. Esp since its by a low-down known offender. I agree that something should be done (however i think he was already banned) but what? 
  I have some ideas to run by the admins in an attempt to decrease the amount of fraud, but out of curiosity: 
How did you pay? 
Paypal? 
Why did you wait so long before contacting us about this? 
Why not do it after the org. time frame expired?
  Personally, i feel as though sites need to take some responsability if they allow selling of any kind. Buyer beware can protect a site, but not the name or reputation of itself. There is absolutly no grey area involved with what i think of brianstyles (Brian Spencer, Houston TX.) whose even screwed some of my local homies...."he should NEVER come to SD!". And he was a moderator so people trusted that because of his post count and the amount of time hes been here was far into the green zone.

Anyways, there are alot of good people in this community and I would like to see a list of people that have gotten ripped-off, so i can ascertain the appropriete percentage and see who else is still roming around.

Wow what a shitty situation. Brian added me on facebook a while back and I knew he was pretty shady but damn. He's also good friends with Roo....lol go figure. Time to pay a visit to him? Maybe get the authorities involved also if you have all the documentation of him going to repay u the money.

 yeah bro. i am totally with the OP. i understand that the site cant be held responsible for transactions made amongst their users but at least eliminate repeat offenders. after the fucking of me got in the open he got banned for 7 days and let back on the site. that shit fucking hurt bruh. i know its just the internet but i felt EXACTLY how the OP feels. I have absolutely NO drive to make anymore andvancements with my car. i even contemplated selling it or trading for a 4 door Civic at least i know i wouldnt get fucked there.  thats how bad it got. its really bad when you get to the point of not being able to trust ANYONE. and its people like him that bring the scene down. some higher ups may not see the effect one person can have but one person screwing everyone and taking their hard earned money is indeed a big deal. to be honest the only reason i came back today to post was because a friend of mine called me to say "hey some guy in Australia got fucked at the same time that you were getting fucked". so i came to sympathize. i really and truly enjoyed building my LS until recent. its just gone completely downhill.

I very NEARLY got done as well....luckily i managed to find what i wanted myself for a bit cheaper otherwise i would have paypal'd this guy money.....his post count and what seemed like a genuine guy very nearly got me......

For all other  members  on vsc some times is best to skip the e mails get the #sellers number(do a reverse lookup) and address you will be surprise what you can lean from a simple conversation ...and go with you gut feeling from that point ..

if u guys seriously have legit documentation of what was paid/promised...you should have a VSC super mod pull his IP, trace it to him, then file a police report that shows it was him doing all that shit.

i have tried to rewcover my money through paypal but becuase its older than 45days they dont want to know about it, but im still seeing what i can do about this. i do have all the documentation, emails, paypal reciepts and everything showing i sent him the money. 

 i dont know if ill ever see the money again.... but if someone wants to send me pictures of his house being firebombed i would love it ahah.... just joking. you can understand how i feel though :saiyancrunks:

the best advice i can give is go the legal route. everyone who has been taken by this guy should gather up all the pms, conversations, and evidence in general and call the harris county sheriff's department and tell them you and others have been defrauded by brian styles. this is their 'dispute resolution office' number - 713-755-8274. if they cant help, im sure they will direct you to someone who can. if someone develops a case against him, others should contact the same person handling the case. work together! i would love to see this guy pay for the crimes he has comitted.

if you used a credit card, which i hope you did, you can dispute the charges with them. you are more likely to get your money back with your cc (whom you give direct business to) rather than a 3rd party like paypal.

I agree with Kohinoor on this one.  You need to take the legal route and get the authorities involved.   You are doing a disservice by thinking vigilante justice will do any good.   You are better off calling the authorities, and taking it to small claims court if anything.  

As far as those folks talking about giving him a beat down or whatever, please remember the rules that are listed on this site that you abide by:
