went to the local japanese book store the other day and saw the VIP car magazines.. a lotta the guys are on coilovers.. gotta give them props for riding that low on coils

Air is getting more popular, but coilovers were always the most popular choice for vip cars.
 
Partially due to the cost ($6k upwards for most kits there), but also due to coilovers being seen as more driveable down LOW like alot of them roll... Talking about 2cm ground clearance

Im starting to see alot of y33 cimas that are turbo or at least it looks like intercooler hiding am I wrong???

Y33 came in a V6T option over there. But yes, sporty, turbo etc is all popular now.
 
Not because they are hoons that cant let go of the boy racer in them though; just to say they have done it. These ultra low cars would never see track time or street races (unless its the Sessions Platinum Vip event at Fuji speedway). They drive 20mph below the speedlimit on highways and crawl through rough streets most of the time

Damn, that's why they do it. Had my hopes all up for nothin then. Been seein them in every issue lately and been seeing them on youtube too. There are just a few trackin them. In VIPCAR 12 there's a 2JZ Crown with an action shot, driftin. But I am a fan of those ridin on coils, big ups to those guys for doin that, just don't know how they do it with aero, that scares me

Its very much a different scene over there. If you like drift, you buy a drift car; if you like racing, you do a track car; if you like pimping you get a vip car or a US dub style car. If you go to a show, you will see most of the owners are between 18-25; not settling down, ex-drift converts or performance junkies, they just prefer this type of car (sure, some of them might try a drift here or there, or take it to a track and put it on Youtube; but for the most part they stay in their clique).
 
When you look on Minkara, these guys with the crazy cars dont have drift cars as second cars, they have little kei-cars (660cc micro-machines) which they use for daily duties.
Of course you will find some exceptions to this rule, but they are just that, exceptions.

 
And regarding 326 power etc building vip/drift cars; since everything is getting sportier, performance garages can now show these hybrid cars and get good attention at these shows

Haha, it is on that car, but the dual caliper has been done before.  Although not the most practical braking system as your rotors cooling time is cut in half.  There was an M3 convertible a few years back with dual 8pot wilwoods on 16" rotors I wanna say.  Looked crazy, but the reports said track testing showed it to be fairly ineffective.

V6 twin turbos, VG30dett if I'm not mistaken.

Mercedes use dual caliper brakes on there maybach 62.

z32 are vg30dett, z33 are vq35de. the v6 turbo y33s i've seen are the japan-only vq30det. nothing over here came with 'em.
