Headlight Retrofitters Source

i think this is a good thread to post the info on some good retrofitters that you guys know. weighing my options right now with different retrofitters.

opening up a headlight is the easy part, putting it back together correctly without leaking is the part that people do wrong..

but that is for an LS430. Im tryn to see if anybody has done it for the Y33 or Y34 older LS for other members that might be thinking about doin this type of mod but are "noobs".

it takes that sealant along time to set.. u have to mash it together, and sometimes tape up or strap the headlight together with a belt or strap tightly.  for a few hours.  Definatly not outside, because if moisture gets in its all a wrap!

rubber clamps are best for this type of jobs.

From my research and experience with opening up the headlights on my STi I would strongly recommend using an entire weekend for this sort of thing.
If you paint the inner shrouds let them dry overnight and even then I bake them again to ensure they're 100% dry. If they're not the offgases can ruin the lens.
If you add any sealant be conservative. The original sealant should be enough but if you add too much it'll take forever to cure. As was previously said strap them shut and leave them overnight.

If not, you need to be the first. It's really a no brainer for any retofitter with a good amount of experience to be able to retrofit any car. Just gotta find a projector that fits. I was lucky as the OEM LS lenses would fit a flood lamp if you wanted to.

one of my customer bought a retro fit headlight service from them. ls460 on a 2gs..he said he got it from luxury mods. i looked at it i am not impress with the work. aim too high and can't be adjust

Are you sure it was an LS460? Or M45?

called lux mods, left a message, messaged on CL and they did not respond to me..guess they dont want my service.

probably going to be high priced like all the other products they sell.

i thought it was a m45 too but customer told me is 460

HID-planet.com has quite a few people that do retrofitting for others. Just make sure you find out who does well and has good reviews.


I know for the 2GS...there's a thread on CL about the q45 projectors...and it comes with a PDF template for a bolt on bracket for the projectors. With this template, you can basically just not cut out the middle of it, and mod it to hold whatever projectors you want, and it should be good to go. 

I don't have it anymore, and you'd have to search to find it, but it's there. 

I DO know that OEM HID bowls for the 2gs are a direct drop in, and when I get my HID conversion kit in, I'll swap them out.

Hi guys, thanks for the +1 so far.  

We're not primarily a "HID retro" company, we simply offer it as a service and do very low volume.  We provide our custom brackets which make the job cake for DIY'ers.

REV-01: It's M45...and that retrofit was not done by us, if you read the thread he bought the lights from, it states who made it.

^i am not sure if we are even talking about the same light anymore. i change his lights yesterday and for sure the new one is m45 because i can see the green tint. he said (not me) his previous one was done by you guys.

i request a back pic of the q45 retro you guys did on cl and you guys didn't response yet. can i check it out?

He purchased the lights from us yes, but that's not our work.  First sentence of our FS thread on CL states that.

As for the back, we didn't take any photos but the customer will post them when he is ready to unveil his car.  

If you're wondering what's covering the back of the projector, we use these nice little rubber boots.  :biggthumpup:

see...that is why i posted the pic we are not even talking about the same light at the beginning. but yeah i am only interested in seeing the back of the housing from the outside, not the custom brackets or the boots by itself.

the one you posted if it is the one i just installed. than even than one got flaws too. deep scratch on the lens on the right side. when i open it up i am like wtf. when the installer put the lens back on they didn't clean the housing good enough and leave the glue on the chrome part on alot of areas. and the part of the chrome housing where is cut to make room for the projector the cut is not straight and some spots is over cut with a dremel. on top of that when we put on the light the passenger side is sticking out now which i have no clue why since the previous retro fit fine other than to think the lens is mess up some how.

the good thing about it is the oem adjustment still can be made which i align it to match my ls430.

may be i can take some pics to show what i am talking about.

You should post pictures, I don't know what you're complaining about since you say they're not the same light...are you just complaining about someone else's retro?

if you're willing to do the work yourself, it's like an 8 hour project. cost me right around 225 in parts, but i got the projectors on the cheap.

otherwise paying a service to do it is like 250 - 400 + parts  depending on what you want.

+1 for luxury mods also, they produce high quality parts and have good customer service.

I've seen a few Luxury Mods retrofits on some cars here locally, and they look flawless.
