W202. noob here

Thought i'd give a proper introduction to the euro class in the forum. So yeah, heres mine, 1995 MB C280 sport.

Got this car for $500 from my dad's friend which had a busted serpentine belt and busted pulley bearing. but fixed it for under $50. 

Just put it the eibach lowering springs, But im planning on getting maybe the STD coilovers or KW coilovers. Wheels? not sure yet... 

Anyways, suggestions from the veterans are welcome.

oh haha. well hell, that sounds hella more expensive. or not, i havent really looked at those, but Standards will run me about $1200 iirc and same with KW's coilover kits.

I don't know about those 2 companies kits for your 202, but most coilover kits for my 210 still call for a coil to be cut...that's alot of coin for me tp drop to still need 2 cut...check out this link, worth a look see...

To be honest, coilover setups are not really worth it for our cars. The separate coil and shock configuration makes for a less-than-ideal setup.

yea i saw that on that link he gave me... i see theres kits that goes for $1500, which i guess it isnt bad considering the coils i was planning to get are $1200+.  

so im debating which kit now, but for starters i think im go with either the traditional 2p4d or the 2p6d twin manifold.  i think those 2 price ranges are reachable in my situation, atleast in the near future....which kit do you have OCklasse?...

No sweat man, people have been kind enough to share knowledge with me, I might as long pass it on. Pretty much the same rout I'm going once I pay my carr off. I like the idea, concept of hydros way more than riding around on some bag filled with air that over time is bound to pop, crumble, etc.

Well, you could even do a 1 pump 5 dump. That will allow you to have individual corner control but take up much less space. Make sure you get accumulators though, as that is what makes the car ride smooth (but the pressure inside is adjustable to your liking).

Our cars are incredibly easy to juice. The only real "modification" is cutting out the shock tower hole a little wider to fit the cylinder. The rest is bolt-in. 

I have not had a single hiccup after almost 40,000 miles on juice :biggthumpup:

Not to threadjack, but who would you feel confident (locally) for the install B? How much should it cost for the install? I remember you saying turn around time should be within a week or so, but yeah who, where, how much?...I'm thinking tax return cash - if I get my return //rant.

no biggy cuz u was about to ask that. i see the site you gave me the one's i have my eyes on are $1,550 but i dont think it include the install.

OCklasse gave me a dudes email. im not sure if its a shop dude or just a guy with knowledgable facts i need. but yeah. thnkx to both of you.:dance:

Sorry to keep you waitin' Kris...

In my opinion, it would be worth the drive out to AZ to get it done by people who I have experience with doing excellent installs. That's not to say that there aren't good people out here, I just can't speak for any personally.

Let me know when you're more serious and we can talk about it further...

Generally, a good install runs around $1,000.

That works. Thanks man, and it's all good - you don't have to apologize for having better stuff going on than sitting in front of a monitor. Yeah, I gotta see if my tax returns are coming to me or getting intercepted my the man LoL. I had my eye on some Lowens, but after looking at the prices again - I'd so rather just lay my car on the ground on the wheels I'm on. I'll let you know for sure, thanks again B.

$500.00 is an awesome deal. How many miles does it have? Your serpentine belt probably broke because the Harmonic Balancer was recalled on your engine I believe. Check with the dealer and see if this service was completed. They will fix it for free and give you a loaner for the day if it needs to be fixed :)
 
ok, so if I had a 202 in the same shape as yours, this is what I would do. Fix the maintenance issues and get it back to good running and looking condition. Get a code scanner for $40-60 and check for any issues. Change the brake pads / rotors if needed. Replace your control arm bushings & sway link bushings to get the handling back to normal. I assume your vehicle has near or over 100,000k miles so the bushings are shot to hell. I wouldn't worry about air or juice unless you have the money. Re-charge your A/C correctly, flush your fluids using MB spec fluids only. You can find any parts / fluids from the dealer or from autohaus. Autohaus is 1/3-1/2 of the dealer price and located in AZ, so shipping would only be a few days for you. If you order $50 or more they ship for free! Might as well get some nice 3 Piece 18" - 19" wheels with stretched tires for a nice stance. Cut the new eibach coils to a comfortable height but keep an eye on your shocks. You'll probably need to replace those around 175k - 200k miles. I also noticed one of your side lenses was cracked or broken, you should replace that as well. If your lights & lenses are yellowed from age, polish those back to new. Sometimes the fogs are beyond saving, so buy some $9.00-12.00 clear or yellow lens covers and replace them. 
 
So that would be phase one of my project if I had your car. Of course a nice wash and paint polish would help the exterior. You should also treat your leather. Go to the detailers section on MBWorld or Benzworld for interior leather care. You'll find good recommendations on products to use. The interior on most Benz's give a VIP look anyways. MB typically uses real wood vs laminate. Your interior is tan so I'm assuming the carpet and mats might be dirty. Give that a nice shampoo unless they are the point of no return. New mats from the dealer are going to cost you $200+ but they will look fresh! 
 
My phase 2 of this car would be exhaust, Aero kit, and HID's for your headlights and fogs. Your sport package side skirts and rear skirt are ok, but the front bumper has to go. Look into an AMG replacement or Brabus style kit. I wouldn't recommend knock offs unless you have a good relationship with a body shop who will put in the extra effort for fitment. HID's are a dime a dozen these days and can be fitted for a minimal cost. 
 
My phase 3 would be all of the little nick-nacks that you always wanted to get done. Change the paint color. The blue is nice, but lets face it...a hot Benz looks best in White or Black! Then I would swap the tail lights for LED's & replace the interior lights with LED's as well. Get a new Wood/leather wrapped steering wheel. Cover the door handles with Chrome ones (ask Nelson/Kris where to get these). If you really want to get low, now is the time to get coil overs. 
 
I think with all of this done, you will be pretty happy with the 202. Keep in mind this build would probably be $10,000-$15,000 dollars. I'm not sure if you want to invest that kind of money into a 10 year old car but it would be a nice ride.

When the hood is open there are little levers you can push in over by the end of the hood near the hood shocks. Push those in one at a time and your hood goes 90 on you :runcoold:

well Hydro's sound all nice and dandy but OP, doesn't yours have a 4 cylinder which is weak as it is? wont trying to accelerate on occasion to get up on the highway or in front of traffic or even gas mileage be affected?

I've got a C220 and I'm looking into suspension like this but I'm also worried about the above!!

oh yeah, what about suspension bushings with the Hydro's? Isn't that hell on them? I'm a noob about Hydro's

I have a four cylinder and I manage.

The strain on bushings and such is the same as it would be on bags, and the answer is no, not really.
