sigh well the time has come

My wife and I are tired of high car notes and what not so we are deciding to go with a van. My new son Makisig was born 6 weeks ago and I have three kids. The Lancer aint gonna hold us too much longer lol. We are concidering the previa, mpv, or odyssey, or equivalent. Let me know which one has the most comfortable ride, per wife, etc.

+1 on the newest odyssey being the most cushy, but you also mentioned no high car notes...so that leaves the 1st or 2nd gen odyssey if you planned on paying cash for an inexpensive ride you can mod.

agreed that ody was exactly what I had in mind, But yeah needed a van around 5k or under. so ive even opened up to other options like a mpv, xb, somethin, wife say if we can get a car and pay it off for cheap she really dont care. I am looking for a cheap buy but a nice clean dd

5 K huh? That will probally put you in the price range of the "older model" rides that you mentioned above (MPV, Previa, Oddy, Etc). Just keep in mind that with older rides comes repairs and it may actually cost a pretty penny to keep the older ride on the road. "If" you are planning to modd, the Egg has the most Japan aftermarket selection out there. The Oddy does have some selection but it depends on the model that you purchase. Good luck with your decision.

$5K won't get you much...If its ride comfort and reliability you want , i would go with a sienna. We had an '01 XLE and loved it...we got rid of it and picked up a sequoia...Can't really mod the sienna but those things go forever...I've heard the odyssey's have transmission problems in the 99-01 models at about 120K miles...

marcus congrats on the new born.. in that case, I still have my 2000 toyota sienna le for sale.. Bought when it had 99,xxx miles, has 107,xxx now.. did a tune up, scheduled oil change last week, got clear corners and a graphite gray pearl (is300) paint job just months back. Still have the covers on the seats from the last owner.

the only downside is there is no aftermarket love for the sienna's because i don't think they even sell it in japan. so it might be hard to find some suspension support.

This guy aint lyin, really reliable same engine as the v6 camry's picked it up for my self because I gotta family but now I'm looking to get a tacoma double cab since i do a lot of parts pickups and i need to switch to a 4banger. Only $5,000 and it's yours. Oh yea and theres 5 of you guys right? you can fit up to 8 ppl in there and it has sliding doors on both sides. hit me up if you're interested

With 3 kids, the MPV will be too small.

Get the Sienna or Odyssey. If it's not going to be modded the Grand Caravans are nice.

yeah i just left mazda and the MPV all years under 2006 have a coil pack and oil pan issue after 130k. All MPV's i've seen have that or more miles on em. The service tech said coil packs go out every 50k and its a $900 fix alone. Im good off that one :pat:. So now the wife and I are looking more at the Lagreat aka oddy. Found a few in that range as well. Its gonna replace the benz so its gonna be done right. And the wife actually wants to make it clean too. Cant be too agressive on it except wheels. The kit can only be like a lip and rims gotta be full face (thats what she like)

I like the way this is going... except the LaGreat part (don't forget about the Trans issues)... get the RA.. plenty of parts, no serious issues with drive train.. maybe just a lil underpowered (perfect excuse for swap later) four doors= to dual sliding... room for six or seven plus cargo space or system... get the roof rack and Wala!!, you can have both... tons of parts readily available from our greatfriends here and on a few other sites, even found upper A arms here in the US now... Icould go on forever... (I almost did huh?)
