Spacers questions

Quote from HahaJoey:

"all we did was drop it like 3.5 or 4" and slap on the wheels..

i rolled the fender but it wasn't really even needed..
but now with the 5mm spacer the rolled fender does help..

as for camber.. he's gonna get it aligned and see how much camber
he is running right now..
i think if its enough, he should just make sure they're even and the toe
is set up for good tire life and call it a day.. "

How do spacers work?  They go over your rotors so when you put on a wheel, your wheels will flare more?  if you dropped the car 3.5-4" then slapped on the spacers, wouldn't your tires rub??  School me people!

reread his post. the fenders were rolled, but weren't necessary at first. once the spacers were added, having rolled the fenders previously was a smart decision.

the wheels don't "flare" out, they're pushed out/away from the car by whatever thickness the spacer happens to be. :) for hahajoey's friend, it happens to be 5mm, which is roughly 1/4 of an inch (as roughly 25mm is 1 inch).

depending on the size and offset of the wheel, depending on the size of the tires, depending on the ride height of the car, adding spacers can add a lot of issues (such as rubbing against the fenders) or very few, if any, issues.
