LED's and HID's. Awesome.

I finally got around to taking pictures of my lights. these are LED(superbrightleds.com) corner/marker lights, and HID's (6000k McCullough). i know its not 'perfect' as i am sure some of you people will cry about HID's blinding people. People dont hi-beam me, so i guess im not blinding them! :)

first off the LED's markers/corners.

The LED's throw out quite a bit of light towards the ground...too bad the lense breaks it up. its a lot brighter in the surrounding area then it shows.
Then the HID.

the HID or the LED's? HID is because im on a decline, my driveway. so they are pointing at the ground. they light up a helluva lot more, if i drive out onto the street you would see that.

Re: LED's and HID's. Awesome.

some suggestions on how to properly shoot headlight shots:

1. a tripod is a must
2. manual settings on the camera
3. use a half of one second or longer exposure (with the right aperture)
4. take pics of the cutoff. never take head on shots, as any light will seem bright when taken head on
5. take shots on a flat surface against a wall

do it right, end up with something like this:

that's a friends car that i shot last year (my old/previous car can be seen way in the background on the 1st photo). they were audi a6/rs6 projectors (not sure which, and also not sure if there's a difference) retrofitted into oem accord housing.

i've found the tips i gave above to give excellent pics, as well as showing off how good/bad the cutoff of a light can be.

Re: LED's and HID's. Awesome.

yeah, i will probably do that this weekend. the only thing that sucks, is its raining! fuggin rain. i DO want those cleared out lights(maybe robert can get them for me?) but only for a project...im thinking of retrofitting teh sexy g45 'gatling gun' projectors into them. and is300 projectors into the foglights. that would be friggin awesome, and somehow probably cheaper than getting a newer front end put on. as for not having projectors...im sure some of you will be mad when you see the light. it does shoot out in different directions, but not as much as i have seen from some cars. its not TOO bad...but i'll have to go do a photo shoot this weekend maybe. hopefully.

Re: LED's and HID's. Awesome.

Which LED did you buy off that site? I'm thinking of trying them out for the license plate bulbs.

I am running the McCulloch 6000K as well in my SC and like them.

Re: LED's and HID's. Awesome.

i bought the 5way directional LED. its go four bulbs pointing in N.E.W.S. directions, and one bulb pointing up. if you were going for ur license plate bulbs, how do they mount? i would go for either the single LED wedge type bulb the one that has the glass/plastic cap over it that would wedge out teh beam, or just a single/dual LED bulb.

Re: LED's and HID's. Awesome.

Thanks. Are your LED's white?

Mine uses 194 bulbs and is on a 45% angle to the plate. I wish they would shine straight down.

Re: LED's and HID's. Awesome.

my friend has superbrightled bulbs in his reverse spot and they are a lot brighter since he has a mild smoke on the taillights. It is definitely an improvement.
