Low and Slow

So this weekend, a few Liberty guys gathered to go to a local car show. On the way to my neighborhood, Joe "LiCelsior" got a ticket for driving too slow. Although I am happy that it isn't coming out of my wallet (or the other two that he got), I have to say that has to be the ultimate ticket to get. Low and slow is what this is all about

Here are pics of the tickets and his car. Props for driving slammed in NYC.

Has anyone gotten a ticket for driving too slow?

That for sure will never, ever happen to me. My foot is made of lead, cars are made to be driven. IMO of course. Of the very few VIP cars I've seen on the freeways in Japan, they weren't putting I'll tell you that. Although 99% of what I ever see there is on local roads so yes, they're going slow.

And actually, when we did our VIP cruise from Autobacs to San Pedro a couple years back, we went slow on the local roads, but went fast when roads were open. And the 2nd VIP Fest @ AutoFashion, we had like 7 or 8 of us caravan from Autobacs down to AutoFashion and we hit close to 100 a few times on the freeway. So I know I'm not the only one who likes to roll.....

that trip to NJ shaved the rear tires..when i got to Agi's crib, i had enough shredded rubber sitting in the wheels lips to make a tire for a gokart.

NYPD cops suck ballsack.

Your car wasn't that low and your tires were fat. Just saying.

If I know that the roads are flat and free of dips I'm gonna put my V8 to use. Same thing goes for the VIP cars in Japan. Their highways are a dream. If I know a road is shitty, I'm gonna drive like a grandma. If I lived in New York, I'd drive like a grandma. LOL.

Another note, driving in a caravan with other VIP cars on a wide open flat road is probably the best thing ever.

i wish there were open flat road in the boroughs...only in Long Island is there something like that existent. the city consists of potholes, road kill, man hole covers and random elevation in roads. NYC def has it bad.

My car was low enough that the bottom was plenty scraped up, but yes, the tires were definitely fat (although I have gone smaller sizes since then). But, like I said, it was about 8 of us that rolled to AutoFashion, and on the caravan cruise, there was a good 15 of us, all different heights, different tire sizes. The roads were decent for the most part, but roads in LA are known to suck. My East-coast analogy is if D.C. was the size of L.A. it would have similar road quality.

I'm that same though, I know the roads here like the back of my hand, and when they're bad, I creep slowly. I don't enjoy having to fix bent rims.

On that note, I wonder why we never did another meet and cruise, that was so much fun, we started at like 10am and cruised, ate, and hung out till like 6pm. We need to do another one!

i have come to the conclusion that if you know where you going and how to get there houston isn't that bad. i'll usually take it easy for the first couple days after i go lower but after that, and on certain sections of the highway, i regularly hit 100-110 just cause i know it's gotta look sick when i fly by. i do it for the kids. no pedo.

You truly have to be dedicated to do this VIP thing in NYC/North Jersey and the entire North East. For years, all you would hear was people complaining why they couldn't do it. Now, they are finding ways to do it. Liberty is going hard in the paint

Grants car doesnt count! :smiley-rofl:

The ones i saw on the freeway were doing about 50-60km/h in the 80km/h sections (and in Japan, 90% of traffic does 120km/h in those sections).

I'm not talking about mildly lowered slightly flush cars, but the actual slammed cars going to/from car shows. They drive SLLLOOWWWWW.

Our freeways in Australia are pretty good, a few dips here and there, but when i am lowered all the way (~3cm ground clearance) i'll do under 80km/h in the 110 sections... At my everyday practical height (6cm or so clearance??) i'll do 110 no problems

...or there was a little old lady crossing the street, or a wandering dog, or anything really. Everyday is a struggle getting out of my area, people around here seem to think it's ok to just park in the middle of the street as long as they hit their hazards (both sides of the street too more times than not) I've become acustomed to just smashing through the residential area laying on the horn the whole time. I'm guilty of SO many moving violations every morning just getting out of the residential area onto surface streets.
...Cop had a hard on for you that's all, or he's a rookie trying to stack his gold stars. Sorry to hear man. BS, at least it wasn't for something more serious.

just got back from LA...
just to sum it up, i will never complain about or new zealand roads haha...
honestly driving on a free way in a brand new mazda 3 was about as bad as taking my car on railroad tracks...
why so bad?and what the hell is with all the massive potholes, cracks, and random grooves that make the car sound like a jet plane?:)
san diego was a bit better, but still...i have no clue how you guys can ride slammed over there...
on the way to LAX i've noticed a huge pothole about 1m long 20cm wide and about 10cm deep...cant even think of what would happend if a motorcycle got into it...well even a normal car doing 60-70miles:)

Nice to get a vouch from an outsider on what I've been saying for years! The roads here SUCK BALLS!!!! My wife had some friends visiting from Japan and they asked if our tires were flat while were were on what I consider to be a "good" part of the 405 north, in her stock Volvo V70. A huge part of our problem is the roads were built 40-50 years ago, and they did everything in concrete. Concrete is great and lasts a long time, but it's not very flexible, and when we have earthquakes and tremors all the time, the roads tend to crack and break apart, not easy to fix either. Lately they're going more with blacktop, but it would take years and years to re-do all the roads.

You know i've assumed this for a while now. Australians love to complain about bad roads; but seeing the troubles Agi had with his Q made me rethink my position. I've had cracks in my tyres, but never a blowout, and while we arent as smooth as Japan in most areas; it isnt *THAT* bad.

Our problem is the police. Anyone that rides below 10cm ground clearance is a target, and on "show of for the cameras" nights, they make you tow your modified car home (red sticker, cant be driven until its fixed)

well hey i went to queensland last september...your highways could do with some work:)but the rest was in very good condition except one bit by aussie zoo...
and we have exactlys ame problem with cops here too.
if we are below 100mm from the lowest chassie point, its a pink sticker and needs to be towed.but all this can be avoided with a cert.had a mate who certed his laurel at 55mm.
i dont have a cert, but then again my car doesnt attract cops.they look at it but doesnt look dodge or anything and its at 85-90mm at its lowest.
once i drop it more, then i cert it:)

lol, keep doing what you do. Get a lawyer and it should get dropped.

Ive gotten a ticket in san antonio for my car being a "road hazard"

-illegal air suspension
-driving too low
-no front plate (they dont give front plates in FL)

lolz, I got a lawyer and had them all dismissed but it still cost me some money =(

We can certify some things, but nothing will make being under 100mm legal. I think its the bit about modifying luxury cars that lets me get away with things that others get raped for... All these kids in Civics etc jumping on the hellaflush bandwagon and getting towed left-right and center; yet i havent had trouble in close to 4 years of running flush cambered and slammed.

Dont you love how the concept "innocent until proven guilty by a court of law" doesnt apply to car fines? We gotta pay to have our car inspected if a cop thinks something isnt right...

I'm sure he can get out of it. Most cops here dont even show up to court for minor stuff. When that happens, it gets dismissed. They didnt write a speed on the actual ticket so hes good. Just thought it was funny. I've heard of "too low" but never "too slow"
