7 build - Trying something different

Sold the 540 a few months back and picked up an 01 M-sport. I haven't looked back since.

The car project started as a stock 7 on winter wheels in february:

Then I scored a set of used KW v3s and 20x9 Hartge's (the Hartge's are FS:

The 20s were temporary just so I had something to rock when I had the coils installed and came off shortly after to be replaced with 19x10 19x11 VN-lines:

Then I re-cracked one of the barrels after a show in RI and took the VN-lines off (they are also for sale because I want to go 20s just wider then last time) and replaced them with my temporary wheels while I figure out my next move factory 745 wheels:

I'm going to get it down a bit more with some "adjustments" to the coilovers soon. Hopefully I'll have my new wheels by the July show. If not it'll be back on the VNs.

Yea, I wasn't really happy with the front ride height (not enough tuck) but if they go back on there will be a larger tire and a smaller spring in the mix.

Me too. But they aren't nearly neat enough for my tastes and EVERYONE runs them.

Yea I looked for three years before I got EXTREMELY lucky and scored this one. I wasn't picky about color combos though I would have taken anything I got. Actually managed to score this one in close to mint condition for $5grand.

When I made my FS thread (which got canned because I lack a post count here) I offered to drop $500 to anyone trying to run these on a GS. I then dropped the price down to $2200 shipped for anyone (about 4k less then they retailed for). I think these would look amazing on a GS so if you can shuffle up the cash let me know.

I'd love to help someone with getting it done and I think the offsets could work.

How's the maintenance on these e38s? I had an e36 m3, and honestly, it was the easiest and most reliable car I've ever owned. These 7s can be had for such a great bargain right now, but I've always been weary of the maintenance costs.

Some people claim they are high maintenance but I don't. I've had mine since Feb and only replaced the alternator and some other misc. maintenance bits.

Things break on all cars I guess and yea we have Vanos that goes bad or an electrical glitch here or there but its the cheap people that wanna ball that complain and theyd complain about a honda too.

That's comforting to hear. When I had my m3, it was fairly easy to swap out the radiator, hoses, alternator, pulleys, etc. by myself. The fact was, it was just a lot easier to work on than most cars I've had. Bimmerparts.com also had the best prices on OEM parts too. Thanks for the info on the e38... great car!
