8th gen Civic coupe Need Help...PLZ

[b]Yes you read it right I own 06 Honda Civic 2dr. And yes I know its not a VIP platform car at all.  But is it not where the VIP style concept come from......the creating of a VIP looking ride from a non-Vip original.  

Please be resonable with your comments if you dont like the idea I can respect that. But again if you dont plan on helping please dont discourage others with negative post.  

Again Im away that this is by far not a platform that most are use to but if the scion guys, mini van people, and the euro cats can do it, Im sure I can pull it off too.  The 06 civic has great lines and its a very sleek looking car.

If you will could you give me any pointers on wheels, concept look I should be trying to achieve, and anything that you feel would be helpful.  I know its not the norm but slamming to the ground w/ sick camber hasnt always been either.

I dont have a Vip car, I know but I would like to create a Vip Styled Civic

Step 1: get low (bags, coilovers, whatever, as long as it's low)
Step 2: get classy wheels that are hella flush (you can't be afraid to roll your fenders or tug them a bit)
Step 3: details, it's all opinion from here on - if I owned it (and money weren't an issue for the project), I'd do green tint, Garson D.A.D goodies on the inside.

Flush as in having the wheel rim in line with fender while the tires are tucked under fender.

Get wheels that fit just past the fenders. Then use negative camber to bring the rim lip back in line with the fender. The amount of negative camber you are willng to run will dictate how far past the fenders you should go.

A real Vip platform can usually pull off a less extreme fit without anybody noticing, like the recent Junction Produce cars, but since you're starting at 0% for Vip, the stance will need to be special.

At some point you'd have to consider doing something about the car's overtly sporty lines too..the fact that it's the coupe rather than the sedan poses a fair stylistic challenge if you're aiming for Vip styling.
Or you could just leave it at Vip inspired fitment - you'd still be ahead of the game for Civics imo

Well, since your stock specs are a 7.5" with an offset somewhere between 40 and 45, I'd say try 8" with 25mm offset - that's going to put your lip about 2.5cm closer to the fender...but since i have no idea what kind of clearance you actually have, that's just a guess. You should measure your existing clearance, calculate your potential clearance (after roll, pull), then use this [url]http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp[/url] to figure out what you think you can fit.
5x114 is a popular bolt pattern - try and find some local wheels you can try on in the front and rear to see what you can and can't fit.

Your Civic has very blank sides, so I personally wouldn't do a full face wheel - I'd go for something with some intricacy, a spoked design. But that's just opinion - the important is that it has to look classy. And you're better off doing a dish wheel with no lip than a tiny half assed lip I think.

What matters most when picking a wheel though is that it looks good to you - if it's not Vip it's not the end of the world for your car, it can still be nice.

I just may need to leave my civic alone and just find a something else to work on....just dont want to have all these cars being in the military i can get moved at any time and then dont want to go through the trouble of trying to sell anything

You might want to try following a classy classic sporty look with your coupe. Look for SC's and other luxury 2 door examples if you are going to go through with your civic project. Might give you the best representation of your goals of your car, as opposed to following big 4 door sedans.

But if you're not going to go through with this project, that's a 100% good thing. Save your money and time.

I wouldn't be quick to jump the gun and assume I'm discouraging you from doing something different. I just call it thoughtful advice. Perhaps you'd want to allocate your time, money and effort doing something else (after reading and thinking about the other posts in this thread).. but if that's discouraging...that's on you.

the fit is a better platform to vipstyle than the civic. 

Yep I must agree, for the look you want.. the Fit will give you better options. FIT Ftw.

true that!!  i'd take a FIT over a Civic SI anyday. im sure you may find that hard to swallow but thats that truth here.   as far as VIP civic, its nothing new, other than your particular model. be sure to do LOTS of research into suspension, wheel specs, and the cursed fender pulling/trimming treatements. the kit has to be custom, theres nothing even close to being considered VIP for a civic, but obviously theres tons for the FIT.  ;)  (notice 'hint-hint' wink here)

man, you could have spent that money on a 99 GS300, and had money left over to bag it/rims already. saves gas? yeah, the GS will save gas too, as long as you dont drive like an idiot.
