LS430: SS kit + Datasystem + 21" wheels = rub a dub dub

So I just installed 21" Trafficstar DTX I picked up from 0x21, and it rubs like a mofo.  I had to use a 10mm spacer in the front to clear the brake caliper, but it's apparent that the rubbing is from the caster being off.  The 1 o'clock to 4 o'clock section of the drivers side tire is rubbing against the fender.  (8 o'clock to 11 o'clock  on passenger side)

I'm not sure if I should try to get some caster correcting arms/bushings first before getting an alignment.  I'm going to do a slight pull tomorrow afternoon to the fronts, but I'm not sure if that will be enough with the caster being off.

Do you guys with ultra aggressive fitments have issues w/ rubbing in that area?   Was a pull enough to clear any issues?  I may drop down to a thinner tire, but selection is limited with 21's.

You may want to post up more info on the offsets, widths and tire sizes. Pics would help as well...that way everyone understands what your talkin' bout.

have u done any fender mods? as in rolling? it doesnt seem like those offsets would make it rub. but then again, its 21"

Yep, it's your SS kit. Take it to an alignment shop and drop it to your ride height and see if they can adjust it for your,

You can see the front wheel slightly off center.

woah thats alot of tire up front... you need some skinnies lol

remove your fender liners....I just used the front part of the liner.... actually i made mine out of the grey furry thick trunk liner... cut with tin snips to cover foglight area

is there no factory caster adjustment or can it not get in spec? if not grab the ss pro. smaller tires would definitely help.

don't waste time with ss kit...ss-pro is where is at. yes it is expensive it is because they had to buy a brand new oem part to machine it. you might be able to get away from 19" or 20" with a 30 series tire like jdm. for the 21" i pretty sure is doesn't look pretty when air up too.

Took the SS kit off the front tonight...all is well again.  Although I might get that Moonface caster bushing after looking under the car.  I see where this would install:

Going to sell the standard SS kit in the front and get the SS kit pro...i can't stand the front being so much higher.  I think I'll switch to 245's all around also and see if that helps w/ the look.

Not made of money, but stock body won't be around much longer.

Front SS kit is off and for sale if any LS430 owners are interested.

Hankook offers a 245/35-21 ... looks like Tire Rack offers them for $171/each...not too bad.

21's are definately 'baller status' due to lack of tire options, but 20's would look money also.

but they only have two sizes - a 245/35/21 and a 285/30/21, which really limits what wheel sizing you can go with, imo.

I run 20's up front and 21's in the rear. I had 255/30 series falken fk's on my 21" but they bubbled on me now I'm on 255/35 series.  I only found maybe 3 company's running 21, falken, universal and michelon ps2I have to agree, selections are slim.

well, I kept getting a flat rear passenger side tire every 5-6 days, so I took it to Discount Tire today.  They took the tire off and inspected...no punctures, no bends in wheel, valve stem was good.  They remounted the tire and it was leaking really bad.  Took it off again and reinspected, looks like this tire was previously patched and there was a slight impact bruise on the inside of the tire not really visible from the outside.

Turns out the bead was damaged, most likely from the last time they dismounted the tire to patch it.  not cool...this tire has like 75% life left.  Looks like I'll have to get a new tire.  I'm going to order (2) Hankook 245-35-21's and run them in the front and run the Falken 255/35-21 in the rear.  Really wish they made a 225 or 235, so the stretch would be even front and back..

Got the Hankook tires on the front now...going to do a bit more fender work next week when I have vacation.  Also going to try out some 15mm spacers in the rear that I have laying around.

while obviously it doesnt scream VIP with that rirde height, its totally a nice executive ride.

Yeah I'm leaning more towards EXE for now, especially with the Wald lip kit.  I think mid-2011, I'll change up the wheels and kit to something more aggressive.

may be is the angle of the pic. looks like the reverse staggered where the front is more aggressive then the rear. wish you went 20/21 like the one i did before. right now your car is really high off the ground.

I did 21s on my 2GS for a while. Looked insane.

Just did 21s on a new Audi S5: 21x9.5 and 21x11.0 with Pirelli 255/30-21 & 295/25-21.
One note: I used the Pirellis because they run narrower than shorter than the Falken FK-452.
Half the battle is choosing the tight tire.

I'll keep that in mind about the tires.

I'm going to do some tweaking today to see where it rubs the most and install the rear spacers.

Good point.  The only way I'd ever do 21's is like when SoCalSC4 did 21's on his GS4.  It was perfectly done.
