no one on here probably know me but oh well.. My name is Manuel most ppl call me jr and ive been drifting since 2003.. Ive been mostly in s-chassis pos... had plenty of em to get the basics down.. Ive always wanted an ls400 and wen i finally did it was a wrecked car so i decided to start sliding it and loved how the car handled... after owning a couple those Im finally gonna do or try to do one right.. so heres the build....

so far i have most parts to get the build goin,
coils check
motor check
tranny check
turbo setup goin with a t4 setup looking for like 350hp or so if more yay
hydraulic ebrake check
240sx clutch pedal or probably get a willwood not sure yet
welded diff check
moroso switch panel of my old drift car
painless wiring off my old drift car
non name brand gt3 seat
nardi wood grain 
double din keep it classy
custom work im goin to need a good fabricator anyone know someone lmk
driveshaft 
rear upper control arms - camber sux need traction
rear arms need to be adjustable
front upper control arm needs to be modified to adjust camber
modified knuckles 
cage
etc..
well anyways tomorrow ill post more pics car is being stripped down

Surely it would be cheaper and more reliable if you did a 2JZGTE swap?
 
What transmission would you be putting in? I presume an R154? Don't put in a W58, that will too quickly for the purpose that you are intending.
 
Either way a drift spec LS400 would be immense!

ya i pretty much got 2 2jzgte and a w58 for under $1000 so tats wut ima run to get use to the car..  with my driving im sure the w58 will break... Im goin to use that and go gte later on right now i just want the car to get rolling and start working on cage and arms... 
 
does anyone know if is300 and ls400 arms are the same... if so shit just got cheaper.. need to start measuring stuff up

well i pulled the motor out today, tomorrow engine bay will be completely stripped along with interior... and cutting ill begin unecessary stuff altough alot is already cut off

i saw he was hatin on me cuz of the speedhunters thing but hey it happens. at this point his car is awesome ill be there hopefully next year summer but with full kit huge wing keepn some vip ness in it with curtains, double din and some chuntaro carpet for dash and headliner oh ya

you wanna come help me with this? i got almost everything out of my bay but the motor. only motor i ever pulled was fwd and we just dropped the subframe. i know it aint hard but still nice to have someone with experience.

wen? fyi i tore alot of shit out since i didn't need it... its not too hard lmk though

i'm doin a full wire tuck so EVERYTHING (ac, abs, ps, brakes, chassis wiring, etc.) is gone or on it's way out. should be ready within the next week.

tats gonna be a bitch we just tore apart the engine bay today and i gotta say with the motor in there, theres really no room to hide all this stuff.. every space is used... but if u know wut ur doin it can be done..

Thats my boys car.  He has a few of them.  We just built his parts car up so we could slide it on the Black friday event.  It was a blast now he is building his full track car.

only things that needs to be relocated are the radiator, brakes, battery, fuse block, and reroute the harnesses. engine harness will be custom anyway (sc400 i think).

were chrome.. they need refurbished..

omg I hate these cars so much wiring and uneeded stuff.. 3hrs and still not done with stripping the interior wiring.. tomorrow is another day... lol i would hate to have a short somewhere good luck finding the culprit....

^yeah, Toyota went a little overboard with making things power in these. Like the fact that the seatbelt height adjuster and headrest height are electronic is baffling to me.

lol dude the car is a 91 warranty ran out along time ago.. everything worked fine...

what mounts you using?

there's a few ways to mount a 2j into a 1Ls :)

as far as i now stock.. using the stock 2j brackets and ls400 mounts there the same.. ill test fit the motor in this weeknd and verify..

Damn, I want a set of expands...

well today was interesting.. we test fitted the motor an were lost had 3 different set of mount and none worked.. anyone wanna have any input lmk.. or else Ill start making custom ones.
 
and i gotta make a shifter extension since the tranny doesnt reach all the way back in fact it sits were the radio goes lol...
 
we tried the 1uz mounts and tat was no
used 2jzge mounts from a soarer and no go
and used another set of unkown 2jzge mounts..

Have you tried measuring first?  And test fitting the actual mounts to both sides?  I know it might sound rhetorical, but some people don't even think about the obvious.

lol we knew we needed mounts not sure wat kind... the mounts we have one side will bolt up but the other won't we found tat out wen we lowered the motor in.. believe me measuring is one thing but seeing it play it is better..

if not just modify the cross-member.

oh ya got the mounts to work.. so motor is in.. all i did was use soarer mounts but switch em from right to left left to right if that makes sense.. Im pretty sure if it was auto tranny the tranny brace would work too... but since i have a w58 which ima replace for a r154 the bracket needs to be custom made.. but thats easy... 
 
now to take subframe off and decide wat rearend im goin to use either welded diff i already have or supra diff..
 
I don't like my welded since I lost alot of power when i installed it... not only tat car always wanted to straighten itself out.. think im just gonna custom fab the mk3 diff in lsd is where its at..

I know someone from club lexus did a 2jz swap using 1st gen aristo mounts, also switched sides on them.

early 2jz mounts work when swapped side to side though sometimes the bolt holes need to be modded.

vvt-i 2jz mounts (from an IS and/or a GS) work as well (can't remember about SC mounts).

think i read that the mk4 lsd fits in the rear..

mk4 internals swap over, the whole carrier does nto unless you replace the rear mount iirc.

interested to see this all the way through.

is this really a cheap/better option than  just a SC/turbo setup on teh stock motor? i'm assuming its not such a good idea for lack of manual transmission?

WELL HAVEN'T UPDATED CUZ I HAVENT TOUCHED THE CAR BUT MANAGED TO GET A HOLD OF A 1JZGTE FOR $1200 WITH A T3 SETUP TUNED. SO 2J WILL BE PUT ASIDE AND PROBABLY GO WITH A 2JZ BOTTOM END A 1JZ TOP END LATER DOWN BUT NOW I HAVE A GOOD MOTOR POWERING THE CAR

ls is stripped but i picked up a gs300 shell well an old track car shell fully caged, coils and kit for $500.. gonna be workn on that so ls is gonna take a little longer heres pic of the gs300 back in its time...

were im at right now, still need to get different engine brackets, make brackets for radiator, and intercooler piping..  oh and extend the shifter and a driveshaft and a tranny bracket... pretty much too much more work... but epik's car is and will be back FLUFFY BUNNYZ STYLE..
