i'm sure i'm almost alone on this one, but this doesn't constitute "watered down" to me. these are no less corny as knockoffs as they were as original goods (of course the knockoff aspect is always lame). i'm not gonna lie and act like i wasn't all about this s**t for a while, but looking back... damn. glad i was dumping my money into maintenance, etc. or i'd probably have a lot more useless garbage than i do now.

it was bound to happen. look at how it is now, things that would have never ever been accepted 3 or 4 years ago are being done and praised today. things change, purist will be purists, and innovative people will bring different things from where they came and integrate it into their build. at the end of the day, a good looking car is a good looking car, labels aside. there are a lot of outside influences and as such theres going to be cheap imitations.

its a given that with more and more exposure there is going to be more and more ignorance. look at the influx of noobs in the last year or 2, lots of misinformation ignorance and stubbornness. there was a thread on here when a bunch of people told him his ride is NOT vipstyled, and he got upset over it and posted a link from wiki or answers.com or something to that effect. :smiley-rofl:

I just see blah, blah.....blah in this thread and nothing else.  I do find hilarity in that one emblem that has the word "HIGH" backwards in the pic and the rest of the words are correct..haha.  I agree though..I see no watered down..I see progression.  Little crap like this means nothing to me.

That sonata is sick as fuck.  That is done better than half the cars i've seen on here.  Not really 'VIP' though.

Watered down may not be the right word but there is something to be said about Transformers emblems with laurels on a shield marketed as a VIP modification.

Once when I tried explaining to someone that wheels and a drop doesnt make the car vip, he referred me to vipstylecars.com.  Same exact thing happened to me when I was commenting on a post I seen on a blog.  It was pretty funny.  I told him "thanks, I will check out that site sometime."

For the most part, I think the scene is in a good place.  When you build something good, many people can just look at it and feel out of place calling their random car with wheels "vip styled" if it was to park next to it.

Who cares, the "scene" is what WE make if it...pure and simple.  Those are just wannabees and some people trying to make a quick buck off of something new that's gaining popularity.  So don't get all caught up and distraught over something so trivial.

I don't think its very VIP styled, but it is a pretty good lookin car....probably one of the nicest Hyundias I have seen.

My car is kinda the same thing, a different platform with my take/personality thrown at the car....not trying to label it anything in particular or be considered "VIP" by the large majority

I'm sorry but the sonata looks dope; Hyundai got their game right when they redesigned the crappy sonata to look like this. Not a vip styled car but I would still own it for a DD.

As far as the emblems go, mhe, the swarvoski lettering has also been available forever and has been abused to  spell out 'vip car' or 'vip limited' countless of times here in the south side of Tucson on anything from vans to altimas with chrome wheels and 3 feet of wheel gap. Really doesn't mean anything. lol

I look at the front and I see heavy bmw/merc influences

I look at the rear and see a STRIKING resemblance to audi talis. (if i squint i couldnt tell a difference at all)

I didn't post the KIA saying its not dope, its done very nicely and that design of the actual car is drop dead gorgeous...I posted it to reference of "watered down" and smaller/local car communities seeing that and automatically thinking VIP because its a sedan, low, and cambered.

The reason people keep saying the kia looks better than majority of the stuff here is because people see it as a finished car where as people here wanna get a platform then save forever and a day to get used wheels on it.lol
