victim of stuck valves FML in the cold

i didnt think anything of this come this morning getting ready to leave for work.  but i came home yesterday at a decent hour around 10 Pm weather was like in the upper 30s no problem. I came home and left the car aired up.

 Come out side this morning around 5 to get ready to leave for work and its sitting a little lower due to slow leak from somewhere .  And now the temp is in the mid 20s (FML). I let the tank build pressure and i pushed the button to air up all 4 corners a little bit then release the button. i waited longer to let the tank build more pressure and i then noticed ALL 4 corners and the tank pressured up at the same time. I was like WTF. i still didnt think anything of it.  I then got out of my drive way and  on the street.  Then i  adjusted ride height next thing i know car is dumped out straight to 0. compressors kick back on, And NOTHING is building pressure. 

Then i realized my valves are sticking and i cant raise the car.  im in the middle of my street in front of my house dumped lol. So i slowly try to get out of the street and park across the street from my house. and called into work telling them my car is frozen lol.  will the sticking valves still be a problem once it warms up a little or do i have to manually do something?


and does anyone have any simliar stories? you might as well post up your WOES> i think there should be a WOES thread stickied so  can if anyone has this problem or with the air they can refer back to that thread. Or maybe the most common issues and just update with various other FML issues lol.

anyways any help? And mike (OG) if you are coming to the shop later and im still having this problem can you drop by?

crazy...what valves are u using?

what ever   UAS supplied the preivous owner with. is there a way to unstick these things? and willl a manifold prevent this from happening again? i cant keep dealing with this shit!!

you really need some sort of drain and even a water trap for back up. i told you this long time ago.
 
my guess is you have water in the lines that froze. hopefully they'll  start working as  it warms up.

Yeah, its really important to have a water trap, and drain it often in colder climates. Freezing can cause damage to the valves/seats. Hopefully all will be well when it warms up.

ha ha im dealing with this as we speak, just let the car warm up - now that im aware of the issue i put a little heat on the valves and im out in 10 minutes - my shit is definitely freezing over night - all my stuff is mounted behind my rear bumper - and when the car is warm - make sure you drain the system and then drain it again when you return home - but the heat gun is speeding my process along a bit

well new tank and water trap is on order now i cant deal with this kind of shit.mike helping me with this and hopefully we can get this done soon.  i might wait and take a heat gun to it in a little while did you aim the heat gun directly to the valves?

haha... you'nt mount that crap behind the rear bumper unless you get a valve heater.  They'll stick all the time unless you have a way to heat it.

it freezes like 1 time a year here. if there wasn't water in the system (no drain, no trap) it wouldn't be an issue. we've been running compressors/valves/tanks externally since the 90's (trucks and b-bodies).

maybe closer to like 5 times a year. but again, if there was no water, there would be no problem.

God I love my hydropnumatic suspension....

Another options is to run the air brake antifreeze.  Pour some into your tank, and it will prevent the water that comes in from freezing.

even with water traps, your going to get moisture in your tank.  I would suggest to run the antifreeze.  You pick it up from any local truck stop, or parts house.

Freezing in Honolulu?

Excuse my ignorance, but the mainland seems to believe that Hawaii is a vacation hot paradise all year round lol. I checked the NOAA forecast and it says that your current lows are 60 at night, and around 80 during the day. Reply with one of these :pat: or one of these :innoutrofl2: and I'll slowly crawl into a corner.
