Does this make sense?? (Interior Related - G50)
Ok, I got a question for you guys, I want to know if you think this makes any sense. I'm in the process of building a G50 (1994 Infiniti Q45) with a Kouki President conversion. From time to time I research/search about this conversion, and I came across a thread here on VSC that talked about the model year runs of the G50 President in Japan, the PHG50 (someone was confused about the years and chassis codes). It said something to the effect that in the US and Japan, the G50 (Cima) was in production from 90-96, and then replaced by the Y33 (Cima). But in Japan, the PHG50 (G50 President), which shares the G50 chassis, was in production from 90-01, and was then replaced by the PHF50 (F50 or 02+ President) .... so it got me to thinking .... If parts from the PHG50 fit on the G50, they share the same chassis, and the PHG50 continued production in Japan from 1997 through 2001 (during which time, no US G50 existed), what kind of Interior Style Advancements / Changes / Updates were made on those late model 97-01 PHG50's?? And more importantly, would any of these updates fit on a US spec 90-96 G50? And thats basically my question .... not weather this exists or if it fits (because I've never heard anyone talk about this before), but more so ... Does any of this make any sense?? Or am I just crazy? LOL

the cima was available as y31 and y32 chassis before the y33. for whatever reason, nissan decided the y33 cima woulld be the us market q45 (despite actually being a 4.1).
meanwhile, in japan land, the president continued to be built on the g50 platform (which clearly proves g50>y33) until the f50 platform was realeased in '02.
the later year (and even earlier) presidents had a ton of gadgets and gismos. the hid headlights you bought are one of them. there was also in dash navigation and rear seat amenities (most presidents in japan are long wheel base). as for what will switch over, i don't know. more importantly, getting your hands on the stuff is getting harder and more expensive every day.

I have seen lots of sweet additions on the 97-01 president, however since the dash is RHD it will be difficult to get most of the nicknaks to work for you. As blkonblk said, anything for the rear seats will more than likely fit.

Thank you guys ... and thank you Mike for correcting me there (the Cima part), don't want to be spreading bad info around here. I guess I'm not totally crazy after all (only a little crazy) it seems like there could be some potential future interior mods based off the 97-01 President Interiors. I was hoping for something along the lines of reclining rear seats or something, maybe a new shifter layout on the center console, or maybe a newer/updated center console for the rear seats. But even the small stuff, handles above the doors, interior trim, etc, would be something to consider. Now comes the next part of the search .... finding out what the 97-01 Nissan President Interiors looked like, and compare them to mine.
So....... does anyone happen to have high res pictures of a 1997 - 2001 Nissan President Interior? Or know anyone that could source them? I imagine that in Japan, there has to be a President Crew or something, and maybe they got a website with pics??

I will look on my external drive I mght have a few from back in the day. I find weird the f50 didn't come LWB in president form. I want to make mine a long door like my jag.
But I can keep a loom out for you since my buddies friend owns a dealer and junk yard in japan

Hahahaha Mean!!! But looks like I had my hopes a little too high. I was kind of expecting more of a refined look, but even the 2000 model appears to be a little dated. Still it's pretty cool to check it out. Main things I noticed were more woodgrain, a cool badge below the clock, more compartments and buttons on the center console (front and rear), motorized rear shade, cup holders (cheee!), different handles above the doors, different lights in the roof. Plus too, in these pictures it appears to be a cloth interior, not leather (which I prefer), so maybe there are still some Interior options I have not seen yet.
