for 900 no reason not to. they were my favorite wheels circa 2000 and i really wanted to rebuild them wider but the trade on the 40s had some pros i couldn't overlook.

Those wheels couldnt of found a better home, If I sold them to anyone I am glad it was you and I happy to finally see them on ur ride! I already miss them though lol...

quick question, did that dynamat u put on ur rear deck stop the rattling.  im really getting annoyed,i have 2 trunk kits of dynamat in my trunk and the rear deck on the inside of the trunk also but still rattles alot.

You already know how I feel about the ride Mike , I say keep the 40's on the LS

different types of sound deadeners serve different purposes.
 
vibration dampers(dynamat and similar products) are used to stop panel resonance.
 
rattles are usually the product of panels contacting. closed cell foam is the best way to decouple them and get rid of rattles.
 
sound deadening is a multi step process with each layer performing a different task.

it's not that i got finally around to it. i was intentionally not putting any on until i got the ones i wanted. problem is that may take a while and i just couldn't force myself to ride no caps any longer. i think i like em now though. probably should have at least tried em on in the first place.

snapped a pic since it was snowin. this is an in-between stage. i will be rebuilding these wheels. goin a little lower, adding the brakes, and trying to get 4* camber f/r over the next couple months. also added some jdm 1 piece lights, threw in my n.o.s. eclipse ecd-414 hu, and had a failed experiment on the interior.

what'd you do?

tried to make a single stage "candy" for the wood using the exterior base coat color. problem is there's really no color to it, just metallics and pearls. the goal was to look like green stained wood but it came out looking like paint becuase it took so much to get coverage. luckily i have a back up set and i will be stripping it and actually staining it.

took the maes off and put the head 40s back on. got 215/35 tires for the front waiting to be mounted, 215/40 will be swapped to the rear.

yeah... i finally saw a set that were deep (17s) and they were sick, but the high disk actually worked out for me since the 2ls front brakes are huge (clearance wise). if i ever see a deep 18 in a size i can use for the back i'll cop them.

How much more of a drop did cutting the hole for the uca give you?  I was thinking about buying an SS kit but I may not even need it if cuttting the hole will drop the car 1.5-2 inches more.

the hole didn't actually drop, it allowed me to get the last threads out of my coilovers. more answers in the chat window.

been a while, nothing exciting but i got a new camera so i'm taking pics of everything.

starter went out so i pulled everything. new starter, caps, rotors, plugs, wires, egr delete, and cc delete, and wire harness repair under way. also plan to do some custom finishing. cleaning as i go as well.

i actually love the clears.  I missed out on the ones rhyi had a while back, and was bummed.

+1 on the clear taillights. its a pretty old school look but really fits in well.

dam......still sad that I didn't get a chance to check out your whip when I was down Houston visiting.

not a whole lot of action lately but i did get around to tweaking the ride height/fitment. in the end i came to the conclusion that it is going to be the same as it was. going lower up front isn't an option and anything less than an equal gap in the rear looks like the a** is sagging. all good though, i really liked the stance before it broke.

this still needs to be dialed all the way in but i will be going for a 1.5" gap all the way around (front is at 2" in the pic). the good news is that the addition of the ss kit and some adjustment to the fasctory camber bolts have evened out my f/r proportions and improved the fitment.

what is happening is a full wire tuck (no ac, abs, ps, etc.), a bay shave, and a 4.7l tundra block swap. there's more to it than that but details will be added as progress is made so i don't look dumb when i change my mind.

this is real interesting ferreal though. i've been wanting to see a tucked and shaved big body with a single engine cover on there. toyota heads look terrible without the engine covers. at least honda heads are powdercoated.

i'm not sure what engine covers you are talking about. i'm assuming you're talking about the later 1uzs but mine doesn't have one. i am actually planning on removing almost all the covers on the engine. i've seen some stripped down 1uz and they're unexpectedly good lookin naked.

yeah hes talking about the big plastic ones the newer lexus' have.

Where did you get the chrome door pillars from?
Been wanting a set for mine, but cant find them in Australia.

got mine off ebay (actualy stainless). i99% sure if you pull the black off the pillars there is aluminum/stainless underneath that can be polished.

Probably would be hard to get it looking as good as a purpose made set.

 It looked like brushed steel, but with some work you could polish it to shine like a mirror. If you can't get it the way you want, then go ahead and get the stick on pillars. Free mods are always better though :biggthumpup:

i think it would actually come out better because it would not be an overlay. i will probably remove the pillars and do it that way when i paint. no idea on the seller, just the cheapest stainless with beveled edges.

so here's how it happened: a while back i finally found a set of wheels i had always wanted at a price i could afford at the time. the homie grant scooped em off yaj for me and a week later they were at my door. i had bought them with the intention of using them for this car but talked myself out of it before they got here. instead they were fitted on the president and then stowed away. at this time the ls was on it's way out the door as far as i was concerned. obviously this has changed, as well as the direction for the q.
 
so today (months later) i was bs'in around and making more plans for the 10. i haven't been having much luck selling the wheels i already have (which is fine by mme) and money for new ones is better spent elsewhere at the moment. all of a sudden i realized that i never even test fit the wheels i had bought for this build earlier. well no time like the present right?
 
so i threw them on an instantly felt like a dumbass. these wheels are so perfect on this car. as of now this is the plan:

19" carlsson 1/12, radiused, with spacers.

on another note, the local guy who is donating some 1uz connecting rods will be back in town in a few days. i'm starting to feel like i can have this project done, as far as engine/body/suspension, by the end of the summer.

it was really just a style fit. i put a front on the rear and didn't even put the car on the ground. i'll do it again, and lower the lift,  once i clean up this week.

the carlsson 1/12 is actually based off oem mercedes wheel design, as is the ls body styling according to some.

Long story short, run them like that... No spacers or anything, just slammed to the ground... Refer back to the silver ucf21 u posted on the tread ucf showdown...  The silver one slammed on those BBs Rs...  U have two good projects going on at one time but sometimes overdoing things will just hold u back...

i've thought about tucking them, but they would still need spacers; they are a lot more sunk than they look in the pic (and even more so at the actual height). on the other hand, i want this build to be over the top. no so much in styling (still pretty much stock body) but in the details. this one is being built for show.
 
the president will be much simpler, more restoration than anything else. i am also looking to pick up another 10/20 soon for the streets, which may change things up a little all around.
 
as much as i want to have a car to drive around, they're all going to be built w/  no rush. things just tend to turn out better for me this way.

Well off topic and late but is the recessed scissor lift yours? I have some questions if so :)

it was mine but it was not recessed. it was a portable bend pak and it ended up being to tall to drive on so i sold it.

thanks but this car was disassembled and parted out long ago. i really wish i would have just paid a mechanic to do the starter and saved myself from me. i was great for daily use; it drove pounded with no issues and wasn't nearly as finicky as my g50s. i plan on grabbing a 95-97 to replace it when i get rid of a couple cars, and may build this shell into a drift car or something someday.

Ahh I see it now.. I guess the angle made it look recessed, I was planning on adding a Bendpak SPX-7 recessed later this year. I've had an obsession with recessed lifts ever since I saw one in a VIP mag a few years back.

they're the only way to go. i'll proobably have to go 2 post now because i can't dig into the foundation where i'm at, but someday i'll own my own property and i will build in 2-3 in ground scissors.

2 post vs. recessed, what are the benefits? i've only used 2 post and i cant see recessed being useable for engine work.

recessed you can roll on, 2 post you usually have to roll onto something or jack the car up with low cars. with the portable scissor lift i had to get next to the lift and push it over on wheel jacks. pita. with the recessed lift there's no center bar so the bottom of the car is pretty much completely exposed. the portable was worthless.

and a hell of a lot safer.. those porta lift things rock back and forth like no other
