new to this forum so i figured id share my car and setup...

im new to the VIP scene traded my sr swapped s13 for this q45 a couple months ago and id like to say this is by far the coolest, most relaxing car ive had, alot better than a gutted,slammed drift car on coils for a daily.....

heres what she looked like the day i brought her home. BTW car was bought from jlego, a member of this forum as well.

then i finally started the interior work.. first time doing any type of work with fabric and it came out really good and up to my standards..

the wheels in the pictures are 18x10.5 and 18x12 ssr AD's and have been sold and replaced with much better fitting ssr vienna courages 19x9/19x11..

Thanks, did the interior with tan and blue plaid because the headliner was peeling off and I have ugly tan leather interior, if it was black leather I would have done all black suede or something casual but yeah besides that I know coils need to come asap. I'm too used to s-chassis and finding coils in the area for just under 1k.. Not the case with car and air ride is 100% out of the question

Uhh, civics run plaid headliners all day. It started in the civic scene...

You need to get low ASAP, looks super ghetto at that height. 

But the wheels are dope and your platform is perfect.

interior reminds me of an english cottage and ride height makes me cry. the potential is there though.

everyones car was high and ugly at some point, i just have been waiting to see if the new megan racing coils are good and been waiting to see when the pbm coils will be out. until then, shes gonna sit high and ride like a boat

Someone is going to trip over your exhaust pipes in a parking lot and sue you. Seriously.

Nice platform, love the Y33 - I had one for 6 years prior to my Y34.  The Megan coils are well worth it, do it as soon as you can find a set. I think if you are going to do the plaid like in most European market cars, you need to do it darker shades. But to each his own, it's definitely different.

Looks better with the 19's I like that design, now slam it!!

i like the fact that you're getting your interior done. i'm not a fan of the design, but if and when you finish the interior it could come out clean. $.02 welcome to the boards. if youre interested in chrome Junction Produce pillars i have a set in stock. Pm me if you're interested. :biggthumpup:

welcome dude! Looks great! I, dont give a shit what anyone thinks about the things I do. Nor should I care what you do with your interior. I think it is very well done regardless what others think about it. I say hella awesome for a first timer on it! 

Burbery (spelling?) did a whole cars plaid before for charity auctions even the whole out side of the car. I think yours goes well with the tan. I think it would go better if it was black and you did the red Scottish style haha

But aside all that, that house is pimp as hell dude. If it is yours, and you know the builder.. Is there a way you can contact them for the plans on the house? It is exactly what I am planning to build soon.

This same thing could be done in tan (I have tan interior and it's beautiful)  or ANY color...just don't do it in some funky trendy pattern that belongs in another scene.  I saw it and instantly though of vdubs.  

Like it's been said..the work looks on par, now put that skill to better use and make something worthy of the car.  And the new wheels look way better, just needs lower.  And please for the love of St. Pete...remove the huge brass knuckles from the rear glass.  Why would you even put something like that there?  Grant may be harsh, but he's usually on point for the most part...in general.  But even his personal style lacks sometimes...but still at least skirts the outer edges of the style.

Grant Sucks! Even though he's right..(that leaves a bad taste in my mouth!)  Now get over it, get back on the game, and let's see whats next.. don't run off with you tail between your legs...

I really like the Y33 but I do see where Grant is coming from. Dont turn your nice luxury car into a $500 Civic with all the fanboi fixings. Plus man Im not sure about you but driving around with all those colors in my face would give me a headache. btw I'm pretty sure you can convert the suspension setup to fit S14 coilovers.

Met him at the RPM meet and he is just starting out. I agree that the style of the interior is not my style and it isn't really luxurious. the two things I would say is that if you like it and want to stay with it it just needs to be contunied throuoghout the car. Grant is right about the seats and the other parts looking unfinished now. the work on it is a nice job and could easily be switched to something with a little more luxurious feel still. As fo rthe ride height etc, he is working on it ...

anywho yeah guys of course the diamond stitching looks alot better and all but with work like that comes alot of $$$ right now im just a 19 year old working 3 jobs to pay for my crap and figured id try the interior. it will be re donr in the future with a tan suede with suede seats and door padding and possibly a stitched up dash.. it all comes with time and money and so far ive had her for only 6 months. plans are also to drop in a vk56de swap that i have sitting in my garage but that is WAYYYY down the road.. after coils,paint,interior etc.. thanks for the opinions and criticizm its always good to get a different view of things.

first off, heat up the lens with heat gun, i did this at about 400 degrees F.

they will be up soon haha! yeah i used to bake my lights till one day i melted my 06 dodge ram housing. i feel safer doing it with a heat gun and when your pulling them apart you have to keep heating them up to seperate it.

bought leds because without the reflectors, the light output is a little orange-ish. plus the blnker was whit light output. looks very good at ight especially the blinkers

thanks i appreciate it, owning many 240s and 2 rx7s ive always spent time and money in the right places, im building a 240 now too, its like i cant get away from them haha. anyways guys, UPDATE:

just got me some s13 stance coils for the q45, will be installing the rears tonight to kinda level my car out and get rid of that rake. i have most the swap parts for the fronts to go on jut need a few more weeks or so. also if i get around to it tonight ill post pics of the leds on ive been promising haha

well i got the rear coilovers on, ended up using factory top hat in the rear and works fine, there was some trial-error when putting these on while switching the top hats but all in all its working like it should and i love the ride quality, not too stiff but i dont rub and almost tucking full tire on a 19. boss. 
 
i will be installing the fronts as soon as i pick up my 5 lug hubs. thats the only part i need and cant find them locally :(

well guys, got my s13 coilover swap completed. heres the run down of what i did. and EVERYTHING works flawlessly
 
s13 knuckles
s13 ebay cheap 5 lug hubs
s13 ball joints pressed into y33 lower control arm
 
brought the knuckles to a local machine shop, they drilled out the brake caliper bolt holes larger to fit the q45 brake bolts, they also drilled/tapered the tierod mounting point to accept the y33 tie rod end.(no messing with tierods!!)
 
re-drilled the stock y33 top hat mounting location on the chassis up front to accep the s13 coilover, perfect fit.
everything bolts up 100% perfect and drives like a dream.
 
REAR: used the factory y33 tophat with s13 coilovers and BOOM! fits perfect.
 
if you all are curious, im running s13 stance GR+ coilovers.
 
i went the easy/ cheap route. there is NO need to buy rear tophats, no need to buy new outer tie rods and ruin your alignment.. fitment on all parts is amazing i wouldnt have gone with any other setup

haha im at work at the moment ill have pics up tonight! just a heads up my front wheels are sunken battle ship style lol, i have extended studs on my y33 hubs and 20mm spacers but now im waiting to pick up bolt on 25s for these..

and thats where she sits now. im getting 25mm spacers up front asap, and lowering the rear to match.

looks a lot better slammed =P get it flush to ur fender and camber it !!!

yeah i brought the camber back to 0* today and lowered the rear a little..
 
im lowering the front tomorrow morning and possibly getting spacers as well, ill soon be running a 215/35/19 on the fronts (9.5") and a 245/35/19 on the rears (11")
 
so il be slapping on 8mm spacers out back, and 25mm bolt on up front

got the 25mm up front, still have to dial in the camber and go about 1/2" lower, car is looking better than it ever has and drives so amazing, maybe going to fab up a diamond plate skid plate for the oil pan just for assurance that its gonna be fine haha. other than that, ive been having my photographer take some pictures ill have them posted up when hes all done

ahhhh bad news! after driving the car this low for the past few weeks, i completely rubbed throught the sidewall on a BRAND NEW cooper tire ;/

so im waiting on new tires tomorrow, raising the front a little. i guess when i hit the brakes, the front would lower and i rubbed on the upper portion of the frame... sucks but theres nothing i can do. in the future i plan on "c-notching" the frame to make room for the wheel to travel up inside. cuz i love driving at this height/stance..

whew. got michellin 235/35/19 tires today and the ride height is slammed!! still rubs on fenders but not nearly as much. car makes WIDE turns... but daily driving a static slammed q45 its tough as hell ive learned all the roads around here by now.. pretty tough to drive.. not luxurious haha

LOL! people hate watching me drive cause I'm all over the road trying to dodge as much as possible

what are you reffering to? i live in palm beach, and my car is slammed to the point that i dont like driving it anymore haha.

yes sir, my driveway isnt lowered car friendly. 

in the pic i posted i am running static. s13/s14 suspension swap with silk road s13 coilovers

im running 10s in the rear on a 225/35  i believe. i forgot what my offset was offhand. it had about a 1.5" poke if i remember correctly

sick!! another balsy member who drives static! your car in that pic hase the same height up front as mine but until i get my new springs from stance, i cant go lower in the rear... too much wheel travel i bottom out in the wheel well. cant wait to tuck rim.. thumbs up man car looks good, everyone knows it takes so much more effort and pain driving static. people around here in west palm beach dont belive me when i tell them its my daily and it doesnt get higher haha

sick, did you try preloading your springs? that could help. 

i tried my friends megan track 8/10kg springs on my coilovers and it rode somewhat close to my 6/8s after some preload. 

im partially bagged, bc when i get my kit, i dont want to be smashing a 3500 dollar investment.

i havnt preloaded my springs yet, ill try that first to see how much stiffer it will get me. ill be ordering new tires for the rears today going with a 35 sidewall because soon enough down the road im spacing them out and adding more camber out back. i love the "broken leg" look...

yeah... about that.. i had called off work a month or so in advance, spent an extra thousand or so between tires,spacers, and misc tune up shit, made it to canoe creek which is 20 min south of orlando and the water pump tensioner exploded and left me stranded on the turnpike. i had to go up the next day first thing in the morning with a trailer, raise the car up to stock height and load her up to head home and fix it. it was a rough weekend for me because i couldnt get my mind off my car being stranded so i couldnt enjoy the show as much as i had hoped to...
 
 
 
but now its home, running like a champ, got new headlights on it now which i didnt have in time for simply clean anyways.... heres a preview of the shoot from today.

Glad everything is ok now and ur up and running again, i went up friday night and stayed until sunday afternoon, it was super fun and thank God nothing bad happend bcuz i was back and forth frm Sanford to Orlando the whole time, i had a suite in Sanford n all my friends live in Orlando :pat:

probably going to order some rucas this week so i can fit the wheels.

ok....they fit kinda sorta haha. looks pretty sick and keep in mind this is all done on static drop... slights pull and like -8* camber im taking it saturday for an alignment will post specs.

^Saw those and thought hard about them but I got too many projects going , trying to buy a house, and pay taxes all at the same time:pat:.  The LSR's I have are all chrome but I plan on getting all 8 faces redone the same and then 4 lips for the wife's car one finish and 4 lips for my car another....if I don't sell them first :smiley-rofl:

you got to also see how much clearance is between the inner barrel and coilover. on G50 my rears with -10 camber and wheel 18x12-3 i only have about 1.5"

yea im sure i have enough room between the coil and wheel, i want to try pulling my fenders a little more so i can tuck rim, love that look its just going to be nearly impossible with these wheels

got my projector retrofit kit in the mail yesterday! 

i advise anyone doing a retrofit to hit up theretrofitsource.com for a kit, i opened it up and was amazed at the quality and care of these units.. totally satisfied and everything seems so straight forward! going to start the retrofit this week im stoked

if your talking about the "clear corner" mod by removing the amber reflector, no im leaving that in, i think it looks tacky when peopl remove it, on certain cars it works, but on mine i wont.

today i took apart one of my spare headlights to see how involved its going to be seperating the lenses and it was easy as can be... i could have had both headlights done and installed in the car in an hours time... i set the oven to 265* for 7 minutes and when i took them out the lense literally fell off into my arms. ive dont a few black headlight mods before but the lenses never came out this easy. well now that i know whats involved, i think im going to tackle the retrofit tomorrow before work, im gonna need a dremel to trim the projector shroud to fit the contours of the headlight then it will all fall in place

so i finished up my retrofit today and got them aimed and all setup, came out amazing in my book! ive never seen a q45 with a retrofit in these style headlights so i had to do it!

breif write up/ pics of installation.

your going to have to remove all objects from the housing, bulbs, harness, metal clips, screws, etc. etc..

pre-heat your oven to 265*F and set your headlight in on the middle rack as far away from the heating element as possible, let it cook for 7 minutes and take it out. once its out take a flathead screwdriver and pry gently at the lense to remove it, should come off fairly easy!

here it is mid way through the retrofit, your going to have to trim the lower half of the projector shroud a good amount, i cut the lower half about 1.5" inwards to fit the reflector bowl of the oem headlight, once you trim it enough to fit, go ahead and mock everything up and glue the projector shroud in.

here we got the finished product before i installed it into the car, looks very fancy and almost oem, you can paint the factory reflectors and housing whatever color you like, but in my case i wanted it to look oem+ hehe

this is the kit i bought. comes with absolutely everything need for installation, including new ballasts,bulbs,your choice of shrouds and a complete jumper harness so theres no cutting or messing with factory wires!  you even have true HID high beam which is sick!

yeah that was when headlight #2 was cooking, my mom woke up expecting to use the kitchen and saw me "cooking" comething and was very suprised i was up before 12 and making food lol

yes you can still adjust them as if they wer factory, one of the main reasons i went with this kit

haha i installed these thinking they were white, they came out of my cluster from my s13 when i bought it, it was just a shell so there was no telling untill i installed them, going to change them to pure white when i get the chance

Unfortunately the car is going to be parted out soon of all aftermarket parts, I've come to realize I need something a bit more practical and reliable. I will be posting items for sale soon, as for the headlights I can tell you now they will be for sale as well as the tail lights.. The wheels will be stripped of tires and posted for sale, as well as some other suspension goodies. It sucks to do this I've really enjoyed building this car but it's just not working out for me. Too much money goes into this car on a monthly basis and it's time for me to upgrade.

thanks, yea its about that time to move on, i need a truck and thought that id be able to afford keeping my q45 and s13 doing so, but the q45 is costing me too much, id rather be putting the money towards a new vehicle
