My new toy Y34 AKA M45

Hey guys I am back again and this time I got myself a 2001 Nissan Gloria Y34 aka Infiniti M45. Yep there is something about Glorias and Cedrics that makes me beg for more. 

To remind most of you, I had a 1997 Nissan Gloria that was stolen of me 2 years ago, and I had about 5 different cars since then, none of which were a VIP platform, but as they say what goes around comes around.

It has a VQ25DD 2.5l V6 engine, however I can not find owners manual in English anywhere, just the one for M45, but its different. Can anyone point the way?

Not sure if youve come across this nissan stagea workshop manual but it covers the VQ25DD 2.5 v6 thats in your ride The good part is its translated in english published last year, bad part is looks like its on backorder:shrug:

Thanx guys, it indeed has been well taken care of and I am intending to take care of it myself. And yeah cloth interior puts me of but not for long I hope. This cars arent popular in NZ at all for some reason, but I absolutely love this shape. But as with all cars I had it screams BIG WHEELS to me lol.

sentia still here...dont even drive it much...a bit too busy with work plus trying to start another biz and decided to join up part time uni....so no time to cruise around...
at the moment nothing planned apart from new suspension during winter while its of the road...possibly refinish my mags...and nolathane the crap out of the suspension...new exhaust tips...
but will see, i rather inject money into my business.just bought a van not long ago, so savings gone downhill:)

Nice ride! I can't ever remember seeing a Gloria with those headlights and tails though, totally looks Cedric. I'd trade for your interior, I way prefer cloth to leather, that looks so nice IMO.

As for the lights .. its because of the model year gloria 
 
99-01 cedric and glorias both have cedric style front /rear lights but diff grille & hood ornament
 
02-04 cedrics kept the same lights but glorias have the usdm style lights for these years

But I might keep it cloth, just see how it goes. The car definetly needs lowering and Bigger wheels, but its all yet to come.

Does anyone have any pictures of the Y34 leather interior? And it must be Y34 not the M45 because although its same shape the interior is different. Just want to get some ideas for my interior build. Cheers

i may be wrong, but i heard lexus and stuff are STILL sold with cloth in japan and leather is an option....i think the reasoning was the japanese took pride in their craftsman ship and wanted customers to see how their upholstery could compare to benzes.

There's no reason cloth isn't as nice as leather, in many cases it's actually more expensive. The Toyota Century can be had with pure wool upholstery, like the finest mens suits are made from.  A Brioni suit is upwards of 4k and it's only using about 4 yards of fabric total. Even if you add 50% of the cost for the labor to sew it up, that's still 2k for the fabric, or 500 a yard. I don't know of any leather that's so expensive. It's all a perception and in America, leather is king.


edit: I meant the king of Toyota, the Century, not Crown.

Now there is something to think about. I always thought that VIP cars had to have a leather interior, but now I am convinced otherwise. So since you guys approve of my current interior I might as well just stick with it and work my way around it.

For now my first thing on to do list is to lower the car, and since there arent any coilovers available in New Zealand for Y34 or springs Ill have to get the current springs compressed to get the desiarable height.

Nice pick up.  Its funny seeing it with cloth because no luxury cars come with it here in the states but I can respect it.  Looks nice and clean

will be a bitch to get anything from japan for our cars at the moment...
i have 2 blown shocks and cant get replacements...and no one sells them over here.

The car is at the standard height right now and I have allready managed to scrape the underbody where spare wheel is, so I can only imagine wha it would be like when i go lower.

you can get a cert no matter how low you go, aslong as you have 50mm shock travel (bumpstop clearance)
that is easily avoidable with shortened shocks;)
i know of cars that are certed 40-50mm of the ground...but thats on coilovers...but ive heard of some cert places not passing cars that are too low or cars that have very stiff suspension, etc...go EZYGEE out west...compressed springs, shortened shocks and cert for about 1500.he can do as low as you want...
or there is a place over the shore called MTS or something like that, they are on trademe...thats where all audi/vw, bmw and merc boys go for they shit rims and compressed springs

far out 1500 for a cert, what a rip off i thought utl be like $600ish. But anyway ill go around and see how low I want to go, and haters or no haters it comes down to me which path to take.

1500 includes springs and shocks;)
well yeah, its your car, do whatever you want with it:)you dont have to make your car stupid low(especially if its daily driven)
im getting my car as low as i can, but it doesnt matter if its unpractical since i only drive it like once a month, if even that.

Havent posted anything in a while, just been planning on the things I wan to do with my Y34..

I need an opinion here. My car is Silver which is common for the shape of this car here in NZ and I havent seen any other colours apart from Silver and White. It just so happend that I can purchase a matte black vinyl for say around $250 US enough to cover my whole vehicle, and Im giving it some serious thoughts.

What you guys think about me covering the whole car in Matte black and if anyone has the skills can you please download a picture of Y34 aka M45 and photoshop it to look Matte black? Id much appreciate and looking forwARD TO SOME OPINIONS.

I know its not a Skyline, Im doing my Gloria.

I will be attempting this myself. Have done a bonnet, boot and roof for my mate in carbon fiber vinyl, came out allmost perfect, but what u expect for the first time. At least now i know how to improve and it cost so little to do, plus when I get tierd of it or want another look I can just peel it off without damaging the paint.

bonnet, boot and roof are easy to do, try fenders, bumpers or anything that has a weird shape to it:)i mean anything can be done in its time with patience, but i just dont know if matte black will look allright on a gloria.
but hey we wont know until its done:)
there are quiet a few cars now in auckland with full body wrap, seen a few new mazda6s, newish audi a4, a few holdens etc.

God damn, just when I thought Ill have the only matte black wrapped car in Auckland lol. But hey I bet you've never seen a matte black Gloria lol. Ill be patient this time and do the easy parts first before starting on the curvy once, and I can nly hope that the finished product will be in the middle of attention.

Plus Im thinking of purchasing this dual exhaust system of Aristo on Trademe and installing it on my Gloria, I think it will look siiiiiiiiiiiiiick. What u think?

make sure there is plenty of space under there, you dont want them to hang too low, if you are not planning on rocking an aero. y34s running a single exhaust aye?

Yeah Y34s are running a single exhausts but I had a good look underneath and theres Plenty of space to fit another muffler on other side. I havent lowered the car yet, neither have I fitted wheels. I have however ordered wheels and springs from ebay. Should arrive by the end of June. I hope ..

i do not suggest matte white...it turns shit after a little bit... not many cars can pull it off either.

OK GUYS HAVE SOME BAD NEWS. HAD DRINKS WITH MY MATES AND PARKED MY CAR ON A STEEP ROAD. WHILIST WE WERE ENJOING DRINKS I HEARD A LOUD BOOM SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE THE HOUSE. ONCE WE CAME OUT TO SEE WHAT HAPPEND, THERE WAS A OLD TOYOTA SUPRA THAT SORT OF SPEAK FUSED WITH MY GLORIA.

NOW WHAT HAPPEND AS WE FOUND OUT LATER ON IS THAT THE OWNER OF SUPRA A 17 YEAR OLD, WAS OVERTAKEN BY ANOTHER CAR AND THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD TIME TO SHOW WHAT SUPRA IS MADE OF. HE FLOORED IT AND JUST AS HE WAS ABOUT TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER CAR HE DIDNT REALISE HOW STEEP THE ROAD WAS AND STARTED BRAKING, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE AS HE DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO REACT AND DESTROYED MY CAR COMPLETELY.

I MEAN MY BOOT IS NOW INSTEAD OF MY REAR SEATS, MY CAR WAS PUSHED FORWARD AND REAR ENDED MY MATES CAR. LUCKELY I HAVE A FULL INSURANCE AND WILL GET A BIT MORE THEN WHAT I PAID FOR THE CAR.

FIRST THING WE DID OFCOURSE IS PULLED THE GUY OUT OF THE SUPRA TO MAKE SURE HE WAS ALLRIGHT, AND LUCKELY NOT A SCRATCH ON HIM. AS MUCH AS I WANTED TO PUNCH HIM OR BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM I DECIDED NOT TO, BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT TO GET IN TROUBLE.

SO I GUESS NOW THAT MY CAR IS TOTALLED I MIGHT AS WELL USE MONEY WISELY TO GET ME ANOTHER VIP VEHICLE ONCE ILL RECIEVE THE FUNDS.

IT SUCKS THAT MY CAR GOR WRITTEN OFF, BUT NOTHING I CAN DO THERE. 

AFTER A LOT OF THINKING I STILL WANT TO CONTINUE WITH THE WHOLE VIP THEME AND THIS TIME WHATEVER CAR ILL BUY I WANT TO MAKE THE MOST OF BUILDING IT UP.

I HAVE SEEN A FYEW NICE G35 SEDANS AROUND THIS WEBSITE AND I TEND TO GO THAT WAY, OR IF ANOTHER GLORIA COMES BY THEN WHY NOT.

shit bro that sucks! But atleast you are all good. i never park any of my cars on roads(especially main ones)there is far too many dickhead out there...when i used to live in mt eden, i saw atleast 2-3 crashes a week involving a dipshit and a stationary car.

i dunno about skylines aye bro, far too many of them all geed up in south auckland lol there are 2 toyota crowns for sale on trade me (99 model)that would be pretty cool and original, havent seen any done up in auckland.how about celsior/aristo? something thats actually a platform and has plenty of parts available for them(adjusties etc etc)

I was thinking to get something practical, something that will stand out with a decent set of wheels and looks eye catching. Right now Im thinking of getting a 2004 Nissan Teana, might not be much of VIP but it looks pretty damn good.

This is the one I had a look at today and it was pretty damn clean, just needs some minor love on the bodykit. I will wait for my insurance to pay up and then most likely will get it. Its a 2.3l V6 with twin exhaust set up. It goes hard and is very damn comfy.

Really, I'm surprised. I would have thought they were harder to find since they were only for a couple years. Later.

Plenty of Y34 in NZ, but I have placed a deposit now for the Teana and will pick it up next week once insurance comes through with the money.

I would have sold you the headlights and the grill but the entire front suffered as well because of impact. It wasnt just my car that got totalled, the car in front has rear damage as well because my car was moved forward when impact happend and hit the car in the front. The way I see it its a car pancake.

Sadly the seats are not electrical and dont have the feet rest, however the wires are there for any time that Ill find the proper seats... 

Teanas are big inside, simple and very comfy so Im amaized I havent thought of getting a Teana before.

yeah man, that what i've done with my sentia. original cloth seats werent electric, but my leather ones i got, are. there was a plug under a carpet and it all worked.
