calling all mesh wheels

i bought a set of 20" work vs-xx wheels for my 01 ls430 but recently changed up to lsportlines m4's because people  were saying that mesh wheels didn't look right on big cars.  the few of you who are riding  mesh on vip platforms, please post pics of your setups!  and if anyone wants my vs-xx's, pm me.

i think it can be played off, but will require a very aggressive stance.   some like it, and some dont.

^ I agree. I think your VS-XX's just weren't aggressive enough. Less offset, more lip, and a small amount of negative camber would have done WONDERS.

I agree with everyone here, mesh looks good when the car is dumped and they fit near the fender edge.  Just do what you want, who cares about what others say?

i think it helps to get others thoughts and input, but as people say just get whichever wheels you like. if you arent too sure, dont get them, because theyre a big investment. if you know what you like, dont try to be different or whatever just because, you might as well get what you are comfortable with.

this was a car I wanted to take home when I went to Japan a while back...  I still dream about this car... hahaha

mesh is one thing, but BBS LM is another. I personally don't like mesh on ucf30-31. it's all about the big dish face for me.

must be their hefty 5000+ a set price tag.

The LM's are expensive but the LM-R's are Baller.  I love the LM-R's.  LM's are like 3-4k a set, the LM-R's are over 5k.  They are lighter and have less spokes

I meant the LM-Rs but either way BBS LMs/LM-Rs FTW!!!! :biggthumpup:

seriously it should be illegal for any wheel to be over 25 lbs. Any wheel over 19" should automatically use lighter and stronger materials and anything else that  compromises weight and strength should be against the law.

25 lb + wheel has no business on a car.

There is much less surface area on a mesh wheel compared to a full face wheel. Plus some wheels have a really thick face, thats why they are heavier. My cast AC Supremes are about 30 pounds each but they are the strongest wheels I have ever driven on. But, I will still go with a forged wheel for my next set (gas prices are crazy)
 
 
Back to the topic. The reason how the LM-R's are lighter is because there are less spokes and the sides of the spokes are milled in, meaning they have little dips in them.

Hell yea! My AMEs are heavy but very strong and have taken a good beating and have held up NICELY!!!

I just bought 16 of them from the artist formally known as "Qclass" so I should have enough pics to look at for a while.  =)
 
Back to the topic.  The Y33 looks great with BBS LM's.  You can't go wrong with those wheels.  They work with almost anything as long as the car is lowered

Yea, I don't know how many I have but it's about 2years worth and counting, so I guess about 24 or more..
 
The crazy part is I still look through jus about every issue as if it's the first time!
Haven't seen a F50 w/ a bently headlight coversion though!!! Hhahahaa! =)

damn...now those pics made me wish i kept my SSR MS-1's for daily at least.  sheesh. could get a fatter tire for the shetty streets in HI.  i just don't want to wait another 4-5 months for another set.

bbs lm is something i gotta have before i die, just like the work equip.

Stance and fitment become even more important with mesh wheels.  I'd still like to do the SSR Vienna LM9 one of these days.  Anyone have the pic of Touge Factory's green Y33 on gold LM9? I can't seem to find it now.

Those are gangster too but I've seen them on a Y33, LS430, GS and a Majesta 
and they jus don't look right......might be a little too old skool for these cars

Those old school BBS's look nice on G50's and older cars.  They look kind of wierd on newer LS's or Q's

Paint colors are limitless.  You can get a blue pearl thrown into or ontop of the silver color that you got now to give you a color close to that.  VIP-UCF could help you out with suggestions

welllll, since we are showing off deep mesh wheels, i know it aint VIP but it's my S13 silvia.... And my fronts are deeper than that Porsche too haha 5" lip front 6" lip rear.
 
not quite finished yet so i havent gotten it outside and washed for some proper wide shots yet. the fronts are on too, but battery is flat now so i need a new one cause it hasnt been driven in a few months haha then i can drive it a check for clearance up front

wow i havent logged on for a while.  thank you all for your opinions and advice.  i have since swapped out my L-sportlines for Wald Duchatelet II 3piece.  i guess i took beangrowers advice and went for what i really wanted and thought looked best.  these are the wheels i have sweated since the very beginning.  sooo... does anyone know someone that needs 20" wheels w/ tires for a good price?  im trying to sell both my vs-xx's and lsportlines.  i dont have 50 posts yet so i cant sell on here but i have them up on clublexus if you're interested:

I think I'll resurrect this thread since I've decided to go the mesh route. I just think big body cars (vip platform cars) look more out of the norm with mesh wheels. Hence our style being in the milder bozu class. But it's all about being different, so different I shall go. And besides, no one out here in Washington is rocking mesh wheels on a big body. :D But here are the wheels I am ordering and will be receiving in the first week of June to throw onto my pearl white Q45.

Yep they're Varrstoens. Been getting alot of hate from people because they're bbs replicas. I myself dont care what brand a wheel is, just as long as it looks good. I think i'm the only one that's gonna be rockin mesh wheels on a big body in Washington that I know of. :) But I hope that i'm NOT the only one. Would be nice to see others. :D
