hey everyone, new from socal 626 area! 2003 m45
hey hows it goin everyone, im in the process of picking up a 03 infiniti m45 :)
black/black completely stock. basic goal to to have the seats re-upholstered,find out a way to make vip curtains work with frameless doors and have a nice set of wheels, lowered of course. the car runs great but it has the check engine light on, i got the obII scanned and it came up low voltage to the sender/float. ive looked online and have read many articles of people saying saying its the gauge cluster, the sender, the wiring to the sender. i have no idea what to look into.. the guage is stuck on full tank and the milage to empty on the comp is 154 miles.has anyone solved the same problem im having, reading around, everyone says it a very commom problem.
thanks again lookin to have a fun time of the forums!

gonna go ahead and pull the sender out, inspect it, install a new o-ring. and send the guage cluster out for repair. then time to start the build!

I have an extra gauge cluster I got and ran while mine was at BBA Reman getting fixed. I actually ran it like 2 months, and it's got about 2k miles on it (bought it w/ ZERO miles on it). I would either sell it or rent it to you if you want.

BBA was awesome. I sent it out on Monday and had it back on Friday. Got mine done last Sept.
My M got mad love on Monday.
1st, driving back from picking up lunch:
guy in Cressida rolls windows down: "that's a sick M45 (I'm de-badged btw), did you get your tail lights imported?"
me: "yea, they're the Gloria ones from Japan, and thanks!!".
2nd, after I loaded my sons bike for his b-day in the trunk, I'm going up the block to U-turn in Long Beach on 2nd street / Belmont and I hear this "Heeeyyyy!!" so I look around and see an old white guy w/ a beard like Santa at a bar giving me big thumbs up (at least I think it's me), so after I make the U-turn driving on his side of the street he did it again, pumping his thumb up "Nice man!". I know he had no clue what it was, but he dug the overall effect.
That's what makes me really happy, when it's someone who I know has no idea what it even is, but they know they dig it!! I actually take more enjoyment from some older cat who has no clue about "VIP" or what these cars are, or represent, they just know it's a bitchen ride and that's all that matters.

Dang! Tons of love for your m45 today!
Quick question about the max coilovers..I belive I read this on the parts max forum, it said you need the z32 lower mounts to use the y33 VIP coilovers on a m45. But on max's website,it says the z32 bottoms only work with comp coil overs? Even though they say that..do they still thread with the y33 VIP coil overs?

also, ive been researching and came up preety much empty handed, what are my options for suspension linkage? front and rear..
edit- i just read up on the part shop MAX subforum..saything they are working on y34 rear upper control arms..should be a few months it says.
as for what set up from MAX to use on a y34, it states i the thread that its y33 fronts with z33 rears. is that, the y33 vip coil overs with the z33 shock sleeves, or a diffrent set of shocks for the front and back?
and once again edit lol- i misread and the sleeves they sell are z32...so the question arises again.. the front and rear are diffrent coilovers? (y33 front,z33 rear)
thanks for the help with my questions!

They're using my car to develop the Y34 suspension, just be patient, it will be in stock in a few months. As for the questions to your answers, the basis of the kit is the already developed Y33 fronts and Z33 rears with minor modifications, but other than that, I'm not sure.

Maybe i need to get a M45 cause i get looks of wtf did you do it haha. young kids who dont know just think its awesome and they see past the primer stages etc. haha
in for the win on the pillarless curtains.

pics are coming!! ive been so caught up with work.. and i dont think i wanna spoil the completely stock m45 with awful night pics with a horrible camera hahaha :)
as for the guage cluster... i hope the mpg and miles till empty on the ecu are accurate! hahaha
and pillarless curtains...this has been my greatest challange/most thinking lol debating on taking the short route by just mounting them on the pillar and mount the upper track so they can open, but just be really loose/flop around.
or build a really thin half door frame that holds the upper track..it will be held steady with some sort or window/weatherstripping,that will sandwich between the window and doorjamb.while the weather stripping trim holds it in place while the door is open.
also mount the bottom track as usual on the door panel..

Interested in your ideas for running curtains on frameless windows. I racked my brain for a while and gave up on coming up on a practical way to do it. Everything I came up with required clipping and un-clipping when opening the door.
