Haiii guys, I'm the new owner of the LS430, and ready to bring it to the next stage if that's even possible. Anis will be back with bigger and better things to rep RE as if his maserati isn't enough :dance:

Looks like it's gonna be out of commission for awhile... Also, looks like the exhaust tip on the right-side is lower than the left.

Personally I wouldn't run 30 series, I have them on black LS and I hate them but they were free so will change them for sure next time. But on my White LS I got 35 Series (same size 225 and 245) and ride is almost like stock. Also if you are going to stretch them 35 would look better since 30s are just too stiff for stretching. Just my 2 cent.:shrug:

well, i was going with 35, but than my friend told me I should go with 30 series and get more contact patch on the pavement. And than he showed me this IS that is running the same exact tire and tire size on an 11" wheel which I will be doing in the rear. I like how it looks, and not too overly stretch.

i agree for the same reasons. ride is so much nicer on 35s. i think you should take that into consideration since you are going to be driving this car frequently.

Have to agree I have 255/30/20 Hankook on 20x10.5 and I have had nothing but problems.

Just curious, why would you buy a "set" car instead of a unmodded one? I would've bought it and kept it like it was, it was beautiful....

For a 20x9 and 20x10 setup I'd say high 30's if you plan to lower it.

I'm doing some things to compliment the engine bay. Hopefully I can showcase that in about a month.

and got the studs free, so will have updated pics of the wheels on the car this coming week if nothing else goes wrong lol

The wheels look really good.  This car had serious presence in person, you couldnt help but notice it.  Since the exterior was pretty much done 3-4years ago, its due for a slight refresh.  I am glad it is getting one and it should look great.

just adjusted the camber a bit today and installed the futura design bbk's, thanks to Tony506 and Mr Executiv :)

rear fitment looks dead on.

rear is dead on. Front, we adjusted the camber as much as we can while still having enough threads on the camber arms. Also front would be a lot better, but the shape of the radius is a bit weird. When I get the car back in the bodyshop, I'm going to have them fix it.

it was done intentional before i bought the car. I don't think it'll work with my new rear bumper anyways so it will be straight

yup! next best thing since the last next best thing. No more wondering where your ride height is at when you want to air down or up, from parking to drive, or after going over something.

I would much rather ride as low as possible, and use the cup kit for when i need to go over something or a high crown road. In my mind there is no need to lay out when you are already super low.

cups are small air cylinders that replace the upper spring perch. they allow you to ride low without altering the ride/geometry of your coilovers, but when you need a couple inches of lift they inflate to allow you to clear obstacles.

Gutted. If you look closely you will see that the first paint job didn't include the window frame. I'd be surprised if the glass, latch, hadle, etc. were removed. It worked for them, but we're gonna take it a little further.

Can't go all the way in until the car is aligned but we're making progress. The car is mostly stripped back to the OEM black. The paint job Anis had was a 3 stage (or at least it was supposed to be, we can't see it in the layers) so we don't want too much build up. after a couple more runs to the dealer we were able to get the bumper mounted properly. new oem hood arrived today. i brainstormed a little on how i am going to widen the fenders, as well as the vents. I had an idea of what we wanted vent wise and just started laying tape but it's not right. the general shape will remain the same but we will probably go with 3 (instead of 2) slightly tigther cuts. the leading lower corner will run into the chrome beltline trim and the upper edge will be against the bodyline, everything else will fall where it may, dictated by proportions.[/QUOTE]

haven't been much fast progress since we're going a bit slow and having everything perfect. Since Mike posted this on FB, I'll post it here too. I had a chance to have a mold of the new MP Gamu-Regalia, but decided to just have the bumper the way I want. Here is one side that Mike recently finished. Hopefully to have progress faster when this front bumper is done. I'm looking forward to how the rear looks with my own little twist to the MP bumper.

honestly, even though this is ridiculously tedious, i'm glad we went this route. it looks pretty good now but as the bumper wraps up i can tell its going to come together great.
 
faster progress? i dunno... lot left to do: finialize fenders, quarters to match, rear bumper customizing, kit fitting, mirrors, retro... sh*t. steady progress sounds doable. lol.

It will pay off in the end...one off kits are the way to go ....looking good thus far

Side vent design is changing also, so that's one reason why we're having a delay in completing this. Not to mention the rear bumper with the diffuser working out how we wanted.

the real delay is this stuff just takes time. keep in mind, i'm not really a bodyman. khanh gave us the oppurtunity to shine on this build, so i went in. i definitely underestimated the amount of work we commited to, but it's all good. thanks to khanh, and our other customers, for being patient and appreciating that sometimes it takes time to get it right.
 
since the last time we worked on the bumper a couple changes were made. this was last year (yeah, i know...):

when we picked it back up the lip section was raised, as well as the additional openings. this gave eveything uniform spacing off the mouth and ahould have been done the first time around:

the edges were sharpened up and the outer edge reworked to a smooth transition. i felt like it would flow into the bumper better and that section was missing a little detail after we shaved the body lline.

there was also a little intimidating detail work from where the plate box was shaved, but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be (in progress obviously).

attention was also given to the backside of the bumper. pretty much every time i take a customers car apart that has previous work done i am disgusted by the "behind the scenes". "out of sight, out of mind" seems to be the standard, but i can't do it. to the left side of the opening you can see where the original color was replicated (the black is actually just the gel coat showing through the glass) and a purely cosmetic layer of glass was added after the patch section was smoothed out. to the right is raw glasswork that will get the same treament. i'll probably ended up reinforcing the entire bottom few inches of the bumper at the same time.

since then we decided to remove the horizontals from the mouth of the bumper, which is the pic khanh posted.

it's a little further along but still on the same step. keep in mind this is all done in short strand fiberglass, not body filler, so the sanding process is a little more tedious.

along the way i took a break from the front bumper and put in a little work on the rear. the original plan was to use a c63 diffuser (carbon replica for sake of compatible materials) and just graft it in, but what looked like a perfect fit at first glance was off enough that it was scrapped.

since mode uses 2 small stacked sections, and we wanted to maintain that layout, there was not enough bumper to get the diffuser up on. this resulted in the diffuser hanging down about an inch, which khanh and i decided wasn't gonna cut it. instead, we are going to recreate an adaptation of the c63 diffuser from scratch. we'll lose a little detail that the molded piece had, but we'll gain some on the exhaust portion at the same time. all mounting points will remain intact.

the previous build had a narrow body line, but not like oem. the whole front end has been converted to mc~ so we started with new fenders. the idea is to have an exagerated oem shape, and then the rear will be matched.

What are you doing with the old fenders???

we might have made wekfest last year if these bumpers didn't take a month a piece. we took a lot of extra work on gp because we missed the first deadline and we missed the first deadline because we agreed to some other deadlines we shouldn't have. lesson learned. the idea was this would be our complete "demo" car; but now it's looking like this will be the only complete og does for a while, if not ever. these one off projects aren't even worth it. too much work, too much time, too little money.

non sense. If it is not worth doing, it should not be done at all. If it is not enough, ask for more. If they dont want to give you more, they wont get "more". And if it is to bring you business, then well, it shouldn't be the only one. From a customer stand point I dont like seeing the same car over and over at shows. Maybe for one year, but after that it needs to be different or there needs to be another. Sadly, its the game that is played in business.. Make more of it a tax write off, and you will see the "more" money be made from it. Since it is for business modeling, the whole thing should be tax written.

after a few discussions with OG about this same thing, his point is, no one will be willing to pay the price to get this type of work done to the level that he's done it. if someone is willing to pay that ridiculousness, or wait out the lengthy process then i am more than sure mike will be willing to accommodate them.

accommodations are always made for the right customer, but in order for a project of this level to be lucrative for me the cost/time frame is unrealistic for most people (thanks to my valued customers that deal with it). the other issue is this is not really what i love to do. it's getting better now that my skills are getting honed, but i'd rather move forward on the suspension game than do body work all day. when i do these types of jobs, and stuff like lighting, it's usually just because i want the work done right; not really because i want to do it.

If they cant pay OG prices, then they are newbies to the game LOL get it, ha, haha, ha.

Not wanting to sound critical here but more curious than anything.. what is the idea behind the "stagger" where the flare meets the fender? Also, would you mind posting some more pics of the process? Kinda at the same point with my build and any more ideas would be great :)

Might just be that this way the job is faster and doesn't need much welding, versus going with 1-2" pie cuts...

i honestly don't remember why they ended up staggered like that. i remember i used multiple pieces to create the convex/concave shape of the oem fender, but why i lined them up like that i do not recall. my gues is thats what made the templates lay like i wanted them to.
