Finally, got a chance to clean the car and take some pictures.  With the fd dbw mod, the throttle response has improved greatly.  Car will even spin in 3rd grear with sport mode on!  Pads and lines make a HUGE differance over stock.  no more sponge feeling in the pedal.  X-pipe finally opens up that v8 to breath.  I still need to get rear cans but this will do for now.   I dropped the perches on the coils close to 2" all the way around.  The car handles like its on rails now.  With the car in SPORT mode, its pretty stiff and bouncy on certain roads but perfect on the freeway.  When I have people riding in the car, I turn SPORT off and the comfort level is back again.  It still is slighty bouncy, but since the suspension gets softer the ride is a lot more comfortable.   I have to give it up to Jeff.  Thanks for all the help and knowledge you shared.  I should be getting my new 20in wheels in the next couple of weeks, as well as having the Cf paddles installed.  Next mods will be  FD ECM, rear cans, and bbk.  Then I can start looking into audio...

I want an aero kit.  Problem is that the only company that makes one is Auto Couture and that thing looks like shit.  So, I had this company in Europe do a couple chops for me.  They are known for making custom kits for Audis, Lambos, Ferraris, Porsche, and Maserati.  Here is what they came up with, these are NOT the wheels I ordered.

I dont think Ill be able to lower it anymore.  Well at least not with these wheels.  I rub my mud guards on my driveway everyday.  Notice the chips on the lower front bumper?  I wish I could go lower, but funny thing is that all the Maserati guys think im nuts for going this low!  Most of them drop the car between 1"-1.25".  I guess we will just have to sit back and wait until these rims come in.

Modding the body of an Italian car is difficult.  All the curves and lines are made to work with each other in harmony.  Props for AC for being one of the first to attempt building a kit for it and selling it at a reasonable price but they failed pretty bad IMO.

I can't wait to see this when done.  I been wanting one for a while

wrd.  I think that is why not many companies make after market kits for Ferrari/Maserati.  Its hard to keep with the Italian styling.  I basically told cupspoiler I wanted an exaggerated stock kit.  I dont want to take away from the car, but help improve the look.  Kit will probably be the last mod I do.  Im looking more into getting these new wheels to fit properly.

Cool! I really like these cars. I use to have a love hate relationship with the front.. but after seeing the WALD kit.. I kinda dig it again. It is one of those cars that when you see it in person.. it makes any resents you had about seeing it in photos go away.

Can't wait to see what all is in store for this. Makes me not want to wait til summer to get the Bent.. but i need to finish projects before more projects (laughs)

I hope no one takes this the wrong way. And maybe I say this cause of that show Unique Whips. But they used those wheels on every car they did to the point it was not "Unique" anymore. Maybe I am biased towards the wheels cause of them. The stance and overall execution of the idea is impeccable but, i would have chose a different wheel. It is hard with these cars to find the right wheel to get maximum dish. Aston Martin's suffer from this as well. Tons of dish in rear, left with hardly any up front.. and some Aston's have carbon fenders ect. so hard to pull haha. I say this opinion on the wheels only cause of the show left a bad taste in my mouth. And nothing should leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth.

Agreed with KM that show killed these wheels for me too. But at the same time, I can't picture what set of wheels would set this off.

^for sure, there was a CLS55 on them here a few years back i saw at HIN and it looks really sleek. Can say the same thing about the Wald Hammer, euro dh ect. All over the place.. Timeless classic that doesn't get irritating to see in huge numbers. Like BBS LM ect.. I wonder if Work, Wald copied Mercedes AMG Monoblock now that i think of it!

Wheels look great! Brakes are off the chain. Car is sik top to bottom.

We are blown away by the looks thats for sure. But the real question is, how is it to live with? I have had a soft spot for them for a long time. But curious how it is, do you drive it enough to notice.. I would hope so! Since it is a lot of Ferrari wrapped up in a sedan, thus makes me curious.

Its awesome I love it, it gets more looks than my Lexus on the daily.  The drive is great.  Ive never driven a sedan, that is so nimble and quick.  It handles like its on rails, and the acceleration is unheard of.  The only thing I could do without is all the little quarks it has.  Sometimes it feels great and runs awesome, other times the car seems depressed and something minor will go wrong.  Like the gas cap latch broke, but it was an easy fix.  The interior door handle clip behind the door panel broke, which was an expensive fix.  Car gets horrible gas mileage, like 11-13mpg.  Other than that, all I can say is if I had to do it again, I WOULD!

Yea, new wheels are nice.  Biggest reason I switched was those LSRs are soo damn heavy.  The car is also more agile now that I have a 1pc wheel, seems to be accelerating faster and a lot more nible in the corners.  Maybe ill get a nice set of some "show" wheels later.  So far, I love these new wheels :dance:

Finally!!  After months and months of waiting (over half a year).  My Oval Tip Larini Exhaust is here.  This is the very first set produced which took a lot of time tooling to make it just the right size.  Im very happy with the results.  Im debating whether to add Larini's stainless sports cats as well, but fear it may be too ear deafening  for this type of vehicle.

Na, front bumper installation will take a bit of time.  Im still sourcing parts for the front end conversion.  I did recieve all my rear bumper and all parts to finish the 09+ ass lift.  That will take place once room opens up at the body shop im taking it to.  Should be like first week er so in Oct.

Got my "MC" floor mats.  The front driver and passenger are the same with the MC logo, the rears are plain.  I also had them add the stock grommets on the front mats as well as color matched stitching around the border.

ferrarichat, i believe there was a how too on doing one. There is a lot of pimpin mofos who do their own work. Sadly I do not have any of the Porte manuals. I have all the 360 and 430 ones :shrug:

Last weekend there was a dyno day at the place next to Original Garage.  We did 2 pulls, and both times it acted funny.  Look at the crazy wavy graph, we could not get it to have a clean powerband line.  I believe there is a trick to bypassing the electronics so it dynos properly, just gotta find out who knows how.

i had to have a few things replaced like the flywheel, clutch, pilot bearing, thrust bearing, F1 relay, and other misc stuff.  It cost me a grip, but its all in good working order now.

The trans is not really problematic, it just costs a ton to replace any parts that wear out like the clutch, flywheel, and torque tube.  The software regarding how the clutch engages has been updated over the years and about once a year I go to the dealer to have my ECU updated with the newest O/S.   Only recalls on the 05 so far have been outer door latch, airbag on/off switch, and front lower ball joint.

They are rated at 400 to the fly on paper, however there are a few articles online that I found stating that all Maserati engines are under rated for some kind of manufacturer politics.

Interesting.. How often do you use the auto mode vs the manual shift mode? ( they say its mythical, but I still think it makes a difference.) And I am quoting this so I dont have to type it out in my own words

The major factor in F1 clutch life by far is driver technique. Therefore, the first thing you should do is read your owners manual. Virtually all situations and recommended techniques are covered there. You will find the advice given in the owners manual to be *way* more useful than the advice you get from all the internet weenies in the world combined (including mine).

A few items bear emphasis in addition to owners manual recommendations. You will notice that reverse continuously slips (i.e., never fully engages) the clutch by design. That means you want to minimize reversing, especially uphill. It also helps to match your reverse technique to software operation, meaning a "stab and coast" rhythm whenever possible. There is also a "low traction" button on the center console next to the reverse lever and "auto mode" button. When engaged this button causes the F1 system to use the same software as reverse (i.e., continuously slipping the clutch). There is almost no situation which really requires this mode so avoid it completely.

Some argue the "auto mode" button should also be avoided because of excessive clutch wear, but that is pure internet myth. The only difference between using the paddles and using auto mode is the decision of when to shift. The driver decides when to shift using the paddles whereas a computer decides when to shift when using auto mode. The same software does the actual shifting in either case so there is absolutely no difference to clutch life. Most drivers seldom use auto mode although it can be useful for inexperienced drivers (e.g., the SO) or for distracted driving (e.g., eating or talking on the cell -- probably a bad idea anyway).

Absent a lot of reversing, virtually all clutch wear occurs at starting from stopped so this technique is the most important of all. When stopped and in gear, keep your right foot firmly on the brake until ready to move off. When ready, move foot directly from brake to gas and press down smoothly and evenly. If the clutch is properly installed and adjusted, you will instantly feel it begin to engage and the car begin to move forward. As soon as this happens, hesitate or slow the downward motion of the peddle just slightly to encourage full clutch engagement. At full clutch bite, resume even steady downward movement of the peddle. You should get full clutch bite in about one car length, two at very most. If you're not getting full clutch engagement consistently in a single car length, you're definitely slipping the clutch more than needed and wearing it out prematurely.

If you get stuck in stop & go traffic, the above technique is especially important. It means you do *not* want to creep along slipping the clutch. From stopped, allow several car lengths to open ahead of you. Then move forward as described above to full clutch engagement and keep moving that way as long as safely possible. When necessary, move foot directly to the brake and come to a full stop. With proper technique, stop & go traffic with your F1 does not need to result in excessive clutch wear and it's a whole heck-of-a-lot easier than a 3 peddle car.

Again, read your owners manual several times carefully and heed the advice of the people who built the car. The 360 F1 system works amazingly well and will provide long and trouble free operation if used correctly. It's a great car -- lucky you my friend!

I never use Auto mode and I always have the car in Sport mode.  Reason is because when its in sport, the car engages the clutch the fastest.  The wear on the clutch is calculated at how many shifts vs engagement of those shifts.  When in auto, since it wants to work like a basic transmission it rides the clutch to get the smoothest transition.  On the other hand when in sport mode it engages quickly and therefore less slippage.  Reverse is the worst, I try not to use reverse often and never ever ever ever ever reverse uphill.  My last clutch lasted about 30500 which I think its pretty damn good.  I've heard of just a few other guys that get closer to 35k even 40K+
