MY GS300 THEN till NOW

Yeah so I was motivated when my friend and team mate Angie on ELITE did her post of how her car looked when she first got it and it told me, "Hrmmm, nobody on this team, or anyone for that fact, knows what my car looked like when I first got it!" Well dag-nab-it if you ain't gonna know now! This is more of a record keeping thread for me but any questions, comments, or concerns are always welcome. Thanks, I and I hope that you enjoy. I am on my way to finally incorporating the styles and trends from EXE and VIP into my car. I think the base is where I want but the things that inspire me most come from the VIP and EXE platforms. However, I may not be 100%VIP or EXE and my car may never be accepted by the true VIP and EXE tuners. I accept that. I am only looking to integrate some of the styles and features to benefit my ride to my tastes. After all I am the one who has to drive it. hehe. thanks

Here it is the day we brought her home! Before 10 miles off the lot I already stopped at Oasis Window Tinting and tinted her 35% on the sides and 20% in the rear. That's right. I didn't own the car for more than 15 minutes and it was already modded! Bought her in March of 2004.

I went back under the hood to do some more work. This time with the help of Spectre Performance. They gave me a polished intake system. I got a 1st Gen Strut bar, got that polished. I got my intake manifold polished, and I got polished radiator hoses. It dressed up the engine bay quite nicely.

I changed the trunk up a bit by building an amplifier rack and false wall. We are working on making the NOS functional. I got a great deal on the kit. - Thanks Corey!

Time for a change. Changed up the front bumper a little to include my IS Foglamps. ELITE got sponsored by Dunlop Tires so it was time for new wheels too!
Forum image

The boys at Butler mounted on my new EXE Konvex 20x9 and 20x10 wheels with a 4.5" rear lip!.
Forum image

Forum image

A new VIS Carbon Fiber and Vented Hood awaiting my return when I got home!
Forum image

That went on and the bumper was finished as well. I love the way it looks with the IS Foglamps.

Then we lowered the car on KYB Shocks and Eibach Pro Kit Springs.

I like the wheel choice and it looks like a different route than most GS's on here.

Not feeling the hood or front bumper. Needs to be lower

Great post nonetheless.

I am just amazed at how long you went before you lowered the car! The amount of work that has gone into this car is impressive no doubt, but the order was all wrong IMO. I would have been embarrassed driving it with the 18s, kit and no drop!

Curious what factors of Exe/Vip you have incorporated into the car...

wow nice effort but the final finished product is lacking. This is where planning and execution is crucial.

it looks like something from clublexus, rather than from a VIPcar magazine.

not to say clublexus is bad, it's just different.

All is not lost though, the front bumper needs to be changed. It looks cheap and something out of the swap meet. Maybe a stock bumper with wald lip kit ?

get adjustable suspension and change the wheels, exotic JDM wheels are a must. I'm surprised VSC didn't give you an ass lashing for those axis exe wheels yet.

but hey, it looks as if you're going more for the sport tuning aspect anyway. good job thus far and good luck.
thanks, i appreciate it. and you have it right. i have not done anything VIP or EXE. i am starting now.

i wish, bu then again i really have not spent that much. the hood was free, the body kit was a steal, and the headlights were free. the wheels we are working a deal with exe.

at the time i just got sponsored from dunlop they were not offering the 275's as part of the sponsorship. it was either take the 285's or leave it. so i went for it and now have 2 sets waiting if need be.

Curious what factors of Exe/Vip you have incorporated into the car...

thanks, yeah i was amazed how long i lasted driving the 4x4 around. and if you notice i've mentioned multiple times that i have NOT done anything vip or exe yet but am rather looking to start now. incorporating these styles into the car as a whole.

Heh, I like how everybody ignores the fact that you weren't trying to be Vip, and judge it as a Vip car anyways.

But, it looks good for that style, I must say, even if it's not the style I like.

thanks firelizard and widebody_q. I am doing my research. but I wanna create my own style ya know? i've always tried to be unique. the vip and exe scene fascinate me but there are some extremities that I want to avoid. I appreciate all the feedback. this place is filled with amazing projects that are more than sufficient examples of what to do or not do. I respect those that respect my style but I also respect everyone's distinct styles because within styles there are different variations. i've always dreamt of building a car that would fit into vip/exe/street/tuner styles. one day. thanks again to everyone who replied to this post. i'd love to hear your ideas on creating such a project that would involve taking specific vip style modifications into my car. I want to focus much of the vip parts on the interior and suspension.

thanks,

yup. EVERY time i see this bumper on a GS it will only and always remind me of one thing. honda civic black widow body kits. notice the words "honda civic" in front of the black widow body kit part.. and no im not knocking hondas, i owned two worked hondas myself in the past. you just dont put this type of bumper on a luxury car.. your own style or not.. it doesnt look right.

this car to me is just too all over the place. you mentioned you want to incorporate this style and that style and all these different things, what you end up with is a melting pot of #%@! that just looks likes its been thrown together without planning or any specific purpose no matter how long it actually took you to build it or how much you spent... i see this gs here and on CL and its just too damn busy and confused looking. because you have no separation of styles it looks like you basically swung through a .com store and ordered up every part they had on sale for a lexus and bolted it on whether there was any flow to it or not. industry tried and proven, you can only mix SO man different looks together before it all just looks like trash...

anyway, you can tell your heart is in it atleast with the way you talk about everything, and thats always a good start. well put together progression thread and good luck with your future endeavors.

Funny you say that, because the 'win racing' kit which is the kit this is styled from, also the whole 'black widow' kit phenomena, is originally for the aristo. The original kit doesn't look AS bad, but yes, it was not exactly a good choice IMHO.

thanks, but i've been set on doing my own styling from the start. and i am not doing this to please anyone except for myself. i am, after all, building the car for myself. i am the one that gets to drive it at the end of the day. for whatever purposes i am not sure but i know i am happy with what i've done. i appreciate all the compliments and suggestions but it almost seems like it was a bad idea to sign onto this site to begin with. i heard so many great things and there are a handful of great members on here but some of the attitudes are not what i am used to. the i am right you are wrong mentality is everywhere on here. but that is ok, you'll run into that no matter where you go. i just take those comments as experience. thanks again to everyone for their words.

takin critisism like a champ. It must not feel good posting up online hoping for more positive than negative but hey ur cool about it.

Imo the only things i really dont like are the following

1. Front bumper - reminds me of the blackwidow kit civics had back in the days
2. Exhaust - looks kinda cheesy/cheap.
3. Wheels - decent but looks too weird

hey thanks. for your kind words. you can't please everyone. I kinda like the bumper since i'm planning on going FI soon so it'll be functuonal for the intercooler. but oh well. the exhaust will be changed to true dual tip on both sides with electronic cut out after nopi nationals. the wheels I love because they are my first set of deep dish wheels. thanks for your suggestions and as always they are welcomed. keep em comin

If you want a kit that flows better....try going with the vertex kit, or also version select has a kit out, that are geared more 'sporty' than vip style.

Well I knew I wouldn't want to join this VSC for the fact that If I asked for thoughts or anything this would happen....

I didn't really see a theme on this vehical either but I guess you say that in Club Lexus ... but I am sure after 3 pages of the responses ... you see what others were talking about ...

I just bought the Vertex kit so When I get pics on bags I'll throw them in here for purposes for you to see

more progress today:

got some rails for a super secret compartment and some PL400 to glue down the subwoofer enclosure floor board

Forum image

used just about the whole bottle on the mdf board and then put the rest on the edges and put my subs on it to keep some pressure on it

Forum image

Forum image

since we are going to run wires a little differently in the trunk we decided to extend some wires so that we could route the wires away from the subwoofer enclosure.

After we set the box back in and started to wire the RCA’s and everything else we realized we needed a way to tune the amplifiers. So, we decided to make some holes with grommets in the tray.

Stinger Level 2 Pro RCA’s ran

Amps were raised with spacers to clear the RCA’s and wired up in the tray

Forum image

Forum image

Forum image
Painted some of the bottom of the box to help hide the wiring behind the amplifiers

Forum image

Subs wired up and mounted for the last time

Forum image

Added a little heat shrink to the speaker wires that will attach to the back of the box and to the amplifiers underneath

Forum image

The protective film was then taken off of the box to expose the inside brushed aluminum and the speakers

got a new mod not too long ago. my buddy, jesse, gave me this tri-star emblem he had made for his car. he had an extra one and since we are on the www.teamallstars.com team it was fitting to add it to the grill area on the lower bumper

Forum image

Yeah yeah, I know.... Not another teaser thread. However I am trying to dial in the fitment and all that before I post up the final shots. The car has been looking the same for so long with the old wheels I felt it was time for a change. Came across these Vossen Wheels and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Did my research. The materials they use are awesome, quality is great, and they have some clean designs. I wanted something clean and simple but also eye catching.

Sizes are:

20" x 9" +20

20" x 10.5" +25

These showed up on my door step a few days ago

Here's a vid of how it moves from all the way up to down. Probably will have to dial in some more camber to get it to tuck tire. Working on a new tire sponsorship now :)

You have spent a lot of money on this car but the Outside still fails to delivery the Wow factor for the cash .. its seems to be timelined to the Midnightclub Video games .. and more DUB Styled

:) it's all good people will have their opinions and that is cool. i have built the car to suit me and my likes. after all i am the one who drives it. it turns a few heads and that feeling you get is pretty cool. makes you feel accomplished. it is always a work in progress. i've never played those car video games but i can see where you are coming from. just wanted to share some pics to the car community not trying to fit in or prove anything.

:) yeah a little of each flavor. i just hope that the execution is done well. i tried to take what i like from the different styles of modding and fuse them into my personal look.

BAHC;403591 wrote:i think the car is amazing..just needs new wheels (already done it seems like) and removing of the eyelids, imo

thanks, yeah the new wheels are almost on the car. i personally like the way it looks better with the eyelids than without. but i've gotten that a lot. i can see where people are coming from. i think it adds to the unique look. they have been smoked over so in bright light you can see the carbon weave that matches the hood.

My 2 cents ..
I concur ........we don't play that over here Tony!!!!
lol not trying to be a tease just don't want to post it until it looks right on the car. work in progress bro

need to see the goods man
:) yeah a little of each flavor. i just hope that the execution is done well. i tried to take what i like from the different styles of modding and fuse them into my personal look.
i think the car is amazing..just needs new wheels (already done it seems like) and removing of the eyelids, imo
thanks, yeah the new wheels are almost on the car. i personally like the way it looks better with the eyelids than without. but i've gotten that a lot. i can see where people are coming from. i think it adds to the unique look. they have been smoked over so in bright light you can see the carbon weave that matches the hood.
I've seen the car in person at a few shows, nicely done.....If you want to sponsor an LS430 over there lemme know.
no, keep the car to your liking man...that's what's good about your build. Don't follow the trends of the fusa/tsuna just cause you have a GS.

I concur also.... it's clean and I know a lot has been done to it but it's still too EXE for VSC. No fake carbon, more low, more aggressive(than the 2nd set) wheels and a tad of camber... That might give it the "wow"-factor that every one of us vip-minded-people are searching for

Or a big ass turbo with a fully chromed bay =)

But nevertheless a clean car Tony.

I've seen the car in person and the attention to detail with the audio install is amazing. Car is really dope in person.

I am however really looking forward to seeing the new wheels and new fitment. I think the right wheel/fitment/stance combination could really take this ride to the next level.
