ka9 x hydroholics x ssr build thread

The time has come were I feel I can start a build thread. I have had my ka9 for 5yrs now . So i picked up my hydroholics kit at a steal price (thanks golfkidd777)
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q194/golfkid777/PA280070.jpg

and a set of Ssr agle dish 18x9.5 +15 and 18x11 +26 rims off vincent.
http://i54.tinypic.com/29peohd.jpg

Progress will be slow but i will update this tread through out the install. Which wont begin until most likely the end of the month. The goal is to lay frame and be able drive flush of course.

YUS!!!! Some one finally pushing it even further than 0psi!

I'm too much of a puss to push it width wise. I went with 10 +44 (20x10 +44) requires not much more than AME_VIP's fitment

0psi has like 100+ front spacing, I'm at 83-ish. AME was at almost exactly 80. you're pushing 110 i think... This is nice!

What are you going to do about Camber? the sucky thing about our suspension is that it was made for performance first, luxury second so when the wheels compress, they stay relatively up right until they get well inside the wheelwell. gonna have to add some artificial Camber...

Oh sh*t... I'm watching this... Please document the merging process, I've been researching but I don't know anyone proficient in merging two ABS Plastic bumpers together. I wanted to stick a particular bumper on mine.

Plastic welding it is one way. Another way would be to use a Lord Fusor product along with their plastic reinforcing mesh.

Here is an update of the work being done to fit the 18x11's this is with natural camber. Still has way to go as far as getting it all smooth and cleaned up.

I had to order some extensions for the cylinders in order to get maximum lift. With those the lift should be crazy high. I wouldn't be surprised if im able to lift the car 9' of the ground and tuck 30's..lol Everything is going good so far.

Its far from done. The rl has a slight beveled edge as you can see in first picture above i will be looking to keep that. Also since the pull is so aggressive i will pulling the bumper out to match the angle of the pull more as well dialing in the camber more so it angles with the slop of the fender if that makes sence.

Thanks man! don't judge it too harsh yet like i said its far from done and im taking my time with this build. Fitting these rims the way i want is not an easy task. It needs to look like it fit these rims right out the factory. I want it very clean, extremely low and very gangster

Question: Do you have to have the whole 1/4 panel prepped and resprayed to repair the cracked paint from the flare job, or is there another way around it?

Reason being - I totally dig the way the fender pull looks and am considering the same action, but if the whole rear end needs to be sprayed, I might leave my 1/4s alone.

Actually the cracked paint was already there before we pulled the fenders. A previous body shop did a shitty job. They rolled the fenders flat without heating up the metal and cracked it.

I did not respray the fenders in the picture u see. You shouldn't have to if you can find skilled body shop. It was all done very slow with a fender roller and hammer and patience.

I will however be repainting the car soon

At first i was just gonna camber to fit the rims. Then i wanted to have the fenders pulled to give me an idea on how aggressive i can go later using a camber kit.

Thanks! To tub the fronts we had to cut and re weld the arches and cut a hole in the upper shock tower so the control arm wouldnt hit.

I like to drive low, tire tucking rim on fender low so it's kinda rough and stiff (no homo). Theres not much suspension travel at that hight so it bottoms out sometimes. If I raise it the ride is better. For example If I roll with fender above the tires it rides similar to a high spring rate coilover. Kind of a sportier ride which I like. So I'm gonna do a bit work tweaking to achieve that ride quality when slammed

^^^now if we could all use the opposite side of our brain and make that lift' work on the other side of the concrete...
from the side profile my ride sits like that, only on a 19/20 stagger - wish it did on a smaller diameter. tough dump. fitment doesn't really get any better in terms of lip:fender. is the direction i'm going with my front fitment only i have to do it static. might be nice to go adj front only so i can park like that with lip literary kissing the fender. hmmm.
ride is perfect, mudflaps and all. i like rides that look all extreme but still carry the oem feel too.

The sleeves can be lowered which will make your full dump lower, but allow for more suspension travel at your requested ride height.
