KANSAS VIP??? UCF20 build thread!!!

Hey everyone my name is Ray from Wichita Ks. I picked up my project 97 ls400 coach edition 2 weeks ago with the intention of making a clean VIP styled daily driver and i have gotten done a few things here and there I plan on keeping it pretty simple and clean.

 2 days later I went and got my windows tinted I wanted bronze tint too sorta match the exterior this was the outcome not very bronze but I think it looks good it's about 20%

I got bored and looked at my grill it had the gold emblem with a grayish center with a few rock chips i decided on painting the center including emblem flat black and leaving the chrome frame. I dont know how i feel about it I want a badgeless grille but i can't seem to find any for 95-97 in budget yet anyone know where I can get one LMK!!

replaced all interior lights with bright white LED's

today I decide to upgrade the headlights I ended up getting 6000k HID's low beam and foglights clear bumper lights and LED corners I'm pretty happy with the outcome so far Oh yea also got a JP gold tsuna in the mail so i threw it plus gave the whole car a detail

  after all this Im pretty satisfied with the exterior for now all i'm gonna add is LED tail lights and work on getting some wheels. I want some 19" full faced wheels in a 9/10 width and teenage offsets I would love to find a nice set of SSR vienna kreis or some work eurolines dh with polished faces but we will see! I know my progress is pretty basic so far so please don't flame a noob=) and opinions and comments are welcome!

thanks everyone for the comments so I have a few updates nothing major done but got some parts in...
These came in yesterday the car has factory air suspension which I wanted too just get a datasystem air controller but decided coilovers was the best way too go

and picked these up for super cheap locally they need some work but it's not bad the faces will be taken off and painted some sort of silver I haven't decided what yet any susgestions?? I even thought about color matching the faces hmmm

Yeah i put it up for sale after 1 week of owning it I really wanted a y33 q45 and one came up locally plus the color of the LS was throwing me off i really wanted black on black but got no response on it so I guess i'm just meant too keep it! lol oh well ...did you use too have a 2gs on bazeria's???

I would have them refinished, have the clear taken off the barrels and paint off the faces and have them polished real nice and purdy

 yeah here in town I'm having the work done by one of my friends that has a body shop and does custom paint they don't need much work just some minor scratches on the lips and faces redone hes going too repolish the lips and fully strip and re paint the faces. Theres a few places in town that refinish wheels alloy wheel repair in derby does good work and so does FTW motorsports I just didnt need that much

I need to get my face polish too here soon.

My wheels coming in today...now i gotta see bout alloy wheel repair guy to fix some minor issues and clean it up..

no real updates i'm not trying too install the coils until the wheels are done 
so i can do it all at once

i did pick up a 09 rx300 all wood shift knob since my stock one had a big crack on the woodgrain and was pretty worn

Slow and methodical is sometimes best! Especially when a certain budget has to be met. Just makes one think through it more before execution, that is if that is your case. either way. I like the direction. I like the shift knob. It reminded me I have to look for a few things that are in the same infiniti line up for me as well.

yeah I deff agree with you on that i'm trying too do this build right that's why i'm not rushing on things  ...the shift knob was a good investment imo it's OEM looks better and i payed less than $50 alot cheaper than some name brand ones ...i'm sure infiniti has some interchangeable ones for your whip

Ive decided I'm going too respray the whole car income tax season. I'm debating on the color I'm thinking either tiger eye mica Or keeping it tan but updating it too the newer ls460 satin cashmere metallic or go back too my honda roots and painting it galaxy grey metallic of the newer civic si's since i used too own one. any thoughts and opinions???

Nice build! When i went there. There was alot of Loas and Vietnamese kats in the area i stay at! More girls there, everywhere! Than dudes(no homo) . I was probably the only pinoy there than i know..lol

yeah wichita is a pretty diverse city was you staying in oaklawn area by any chance if yes that explains why haha

They 18x9.5/10.5 +29 front +12 rear. I will most likely use some 20mm spacers up front. The wheels are being re-done in sparkle silver metallic its a stock wheel color on the corvette z06 the lips will be high polish ...they are taking forever dude said he would have em done 2 weeks ago and it's been a month. I may just hold off till spring since you know how wichita winters are. or might try too flip em for some 19s since thats what I really wanted I just got too good of a deal on these

i like the color it is now, the only one I think that would work really well is wine burgandy color

yeah wichita winters suck! from the pics the paint still looks good. i would hold off on paint and sell the 18s. find the 19s you want and get your stance and fitment worked out

the paint is pretty mint but it's not perfect has a few scratches and rock chips plus i'm not real fond of the color i will most likely upgrade too 19's and color change sometime the spring I wonder if i can rebarrell my faces too step lip 19's that would be dope!!!

1. Take care of the suspension and wheels.
2. I rather re-barrel if I were you since it'll be finish.
3. Re-spray would be my last thing..since the paint is in good condition.

stfu james i am doing the suspension and wheels I'm just waiting for them too be done which should be this week I'm going too look into rebarreling them into step lip 19s if possible since these wheels are still one of my favorite designs ...u need too start on your wheels and we can caravan too dallas for wekfest haha

hahaha..yea wish i could..if there's one in spring mos def.

finally got time too install my coilovers today i will go lower once the wheels go on plus they still need too settle ...the wheels should be sometime next week

thanks everyone got the tires mounted yesterday i went with 225/35 for the front and 235/40 for the rears im thinking i should have gone with a bigger stretch now ...tried mounting the wheels on the car yesterday and the fronts didnt clear the calipers. I was told by the guy I bought em from that they would since he supposedly had tested them on a ls before so i never bothered too test them myself ...so im going too need spacers the only problem is that my wheels are dual bolt 4/5 lug does anyone know if im going too need the ones that come with the replacement studs or can i buy the ones that have them built in already like the ichiba v2s?? please help!!:runcoold:

how much clearance do you need?  use some washers to get the wheel on and then just measure the thickness of the washers you used.

Most people say that anything above 5mm you should get new studs for.
I run about a 8mm spacer to clear my ls430 calipers with a o-disk wheel. And h&r exended studs

also..i've been reading a lot bout bore and seized studs/spacers...only thing makes me nervous bout running them..:runcoold:

it doesn't need more much clearance i would say maybe 5-10mm I was planning on getting some 15mm spacers too bring the eta down too +14

Take a pic of the back pad of your wheel and post it.
You may run into a problem using something like v2's depending on the backpad of your wheel.

Your existing studs are going to hit the back pad of the wheel if your currents studs are any longer than 15mm

Man I'm just trying to see if I can get any good offers I really want too continue building a VIP car but I want a different platform there's a fairly clean y33 in town I kinda want ...I may just end up keeping it who knows and what kinda spacer is it if u wanna sell it I may take it off ur hands

ichiba 5mm spacer. yeah the white y33 is nice

Y dont you just hit up Bosley and get some 10mm spacer for 10 bucks each and use those for now.

Man they only had slip on universal spacers and 10mm is too thick without extended studs I tried a 5mm spacer and it still wasn't enough clearance I'm going too need a 10mm or thicker I may just order some Ichiba v1 that come with the extended studs I seen some on eBay for like $85 ...I'm also thinking about scrapping the whole idea of 18s and going too 19s in order for me too have the stance I want I have too pretty much drop the car on the floor with only about a inch of clearance and ride stupid dumped and I'm worried about messin something up with these crappy Wichita roads

No real updates the car is being daily driven. Ive been working on a few minor maintenance things. The mae wheels where sold I picked some temporary wheels for dirt cheap (way below retail) till I find something I really like I know a lot of people here won't agree with them but trust me they're definitely temporary they're varrstoen 1.1.2 (bbs lm reps) 19x9.5-10.5 +12 all around

Quick test fit on the fronts to make sure they clear the brakes just in case

Also I've definitely made up my mind on the color change I can't stand the color now and I want something else. Im pretty sure I'm going to do nebula gray pearl from the 2012 Lexus color line up. Its not final yet on the color but all this will probably go down within the next month

no pics yet i just got the tires in today i went with 215/35, 235/35 federal ss595. Theyre going to get mounted sometime this week. The car is at the shop right now the plan is a color change, fenders rolled and pulled i'm trying to make it so i can run as low possible. I also have some insurance group LED tailights, and some belleza led side view mirror covers on the way. the color i decided on is lexus smoky granite mica factory on most newer lexus' here is a example.

Yeah the car still hasn't been wet sanded and and buffed I was running short on time and needed it sooner since its my daily driver. I will take it to have it done on my next day off

Let see I picked up the car for 6500 I wanted a problem-free lower mileage one so I didn't mind paying a little more I actually picked it up from OKC! So far I've put in about 5k that's paint, bodywork, wheels and suspension also fixed a lot of minor maintenance things. So I'm about 11k into it so far including the car not bad at all I think it is a budget build!!

I'm taking the car to have the exhaust done ASAP I hear my exhaust scraping everywhere since I dropped it some more also I'm going to re-do the tint I'm debating between a light blue about 45% MB style,green, or just plain black but lighter about 35-40% any opinions???

No that I know off just me and my homie's VIP styled Acura TL we have a good amount of car guys in our crew that drive clean stanced imports. I don't know of anything in rose hill we are all Wichita but it's not far feel free too hit me up when you're in town [/FONT][/COLOR]

my car is on stocks right now bro im doing a quick diy refinish on the wheels before this meet coming up on saturday it should be a pretty good turn out! you should go their will be plenty of cars too shoot up there! my whole crew will be there. it's at the alley bowling place on 13th and greenwhich starts at 5pm

You should bring this up to Omaha on Sept 1st to the Ice cream cruise. Im throwing my air ride on and bringing my 98 down for it would be cool to have a couple Vip style cars there.
