NOPE, these wheels are 1500 a piece.

I could buy weak ass equips and completely rebarrel them and refinish them for less than 2 of what these wheels sell for.

Complete money grab, makes Work look dumb.

You can't blame them for jacking up the price almost double on a set of wheels that seems to have a cult following?

As if they don't make enough money as it is, they need to sell $800 a piece wheels for $1500.

$1500 a rim? even thought it's MSRP and the real price is more like $1200 a rim it's still ridiculous to spend $4800 on a set of 19s. I'm guessing the price is because of the yen to dollar ratio.

Not at all. Supply and demand. You come up with something better, go for it. If you really want to get picky, let's attack them for jacking up the price on a $30 circle worth of aluminum!

the equip and rezax 2 were always the flagship of work wheels. even back in the day, i remember it started at 97000 yen each for 19x7.5...and that is 2003 days..i remembered because i couldn't afford it back then.

and the current equip e05/e10 is not a bit cheaper either....

yeah you can buy used ones and rebuild them whatever....but at the end of the day, it is still not original work barrels or bolts...like a classic car with non matching #s parts.

they made a 100 sets is for those who really want them and could afford it.

It's all made to order but with already sized barrels... It's more like they made 100 sets of faces and will make entire sets when the order comes in. How could they even make sets when there are 3 different disk sizes.

For that price I'd get BBS LMs... best you can get

y'all are killing me. it's a limited edition re-release and they are taxing because of that. if you can't afford it (i definitely can't) carry on. i think work looks smart for capitalizing on a cult status design that's better than anything to come out in the last few years. if i had the grip and wanted some equips i would buy this over rebuilding.

look at leon hardiritt's ritter re-release... same thing.

Forged or not, Limitied or not... It's still way overpriced for a set or WORKS.. period. Equip faces/back spacing is retarded as well. Look at the old equips, they have the same specs. 18/19x13 and 125mm lip or something like that.. I never understood the following that equips have. I'd rather see a reproduction of Equip 01's with nice sizing or Emitz. I'd rather have a set of VR08, much cleaner imo.

I think they should have redesigned the old face to maybe a little concavity with hidden hardware, something to set apart the Old with the limited production. ANYTHING really..

Saying that they are worth $1500 because they are forged is silly.

CCW sells fully forged wheels in any size and width you want with the base price of $750.... (even less for CCW classic races) Not to say CCW are as nice as Equips but they definitely aren't WORTH double the cost.

Scotty, $30 ring of aluminum? What might that be? You're saying the lip is not an engineered piece that took money to design and build not to mention polish/chrome/anodize etc..... No the cheapest lips you can buy are $200 a lip for a reason. They don't cost $30 to make. (try and buy that much aluminum for less than $50)

Edited for name

I'm just saying, just because they arent worth 1500 to YOU doesnt mean they arent worth 1500...its like anything that is marked up beyond belief simply for collectability or the name...as for it being "over priced for a set of WORKS"...guarentee you its not because they all WILL sell meaning its worth the money to some people...and since when did work carry a "cheap" label..sure they have some more affordable wheels that some other JDM manufacturers, but that is mainly due to the volume they sell, and the equip is their high end line anyways.

I was mocking your idea of what things should cost. Since raw aluminum is only like a $1.07 a pound, shouldn't each wheel be just $30? (I'll clearly label this as sarcasm so this isn't misconstrued as well).

My point: you are paying for R&D, manufacturing, and name. You don't want it, don't do it. It is the same reason many of us aren't rocking XXR and other crap. We want exclusivity, and we pay for it. If you think it is too much, go to your CCWs or whatever is your rim of choice. Would I ever pay that much for Equips? Hell no. Will someone? Absolutely. They will sell out before you know it. Work knows supply and demand, and is capitalizing on those with deep pockets. Can't fault ANYONE for that.

Scotty my bad, sarcasm doesn't travel over the internet very well lol I see what you're saying now.

But all that said, it doesn't make it any less of a money grab. Capitalizing is just another word for taking advantage, right? Which sure they CAN take advantage but the whole idea of "for the people" (for the cars) is lost in a corporate world of people doing whatever to bank some cash.

I guess I'm still old school where I am fully into cars for the people and good times, I look past the fact that these companies are in it solely for the pay cheque. Which in term surely makes me naive.... but whatever lol

Exclusive or not, forged or cast, polished or chrome. $1500 a wheel is retarded no matter how you look at it. (and I know we all agree on that)

I will sell you my work equips for 5000. If this doesnt sound right to you, then why would one pay that much for newer ones? Especially if they look just like the old ones. Add something to the wheel, just something subtle. Something that makes someone say ooh shit he bought those special edition ones. Not, are those the old or new ones. Weak marketing move, and they know it.

any premium forged wheel is going to be expensive. hre's are just as expensive if not more but you don't see too many people complaining about the price on them. it's just what's expected with that caliber of a wheel. yes there are other brands out there that do make cheaper forged wheels but then again that goes for everything. there will always be a cheaper alternative. it just all boils down to the end users build and what they want for it. if someone wants these bad enough they'll pay the price tag just like how people pay a high price tag for new or used scaras.

You have to keep in mind these are forged and the originals were cast. Thats a low price for 3pc forged. (You will always pay slightly less than retail so keep that in mind) Check what the MSRP on your weds, Leons, Trafficstars are, which are all cast but priced closely to these.

Some of the Forged brands mentioned have wheels that start at over 2k per wheel in the size. You pay for the exclusivity (knowing that no more than 100 people in the world will have these) and a better product than the previous generation (lighter and stronger). To those who have exotics or track cars, I am sure they are thrilled that they remade this wheel forged

Still, dont see it.

When you buy a rolex, its made from the highest grade stainless. Which is why its so heavy to begin with. And that is the basic Rolex. Then you can get gold, rose gold, platinum, ceramic, diamonds, pearl face, meteorite, black opal face. But we all know that Rolex started with the highest standard, and with every upgrade that is exclusive to only so many numbers you see what they did, and why it stands out from the others.

They dont take a typical 8,000 dollar plain stainless oyster rollie, discontinue it for a few years and bring it back saying it looks the same but the stainless is like a couple of numbers harder and charge the customer 20k. But the people who can afford a watch like that, can afford things that justify. Buying those wheels in my mind will never go on a car thats worth putting on especially limited to the size, and the bolt pattern. Obviously intended for Japanese only cars, but sadly Japanese only cars are bought buy a majority of people who cheap out and buy knock offs and rock folex. Cant even fit a LS460!

But that whole thing is like hey you can buy this over priced rolex, but you cant adjust it for the wrist, so we hope it fits! (metaphor for bolt pattern)

If the OG equips were to come out today being that they are 3pc like their LS line opposed to 2pc. works most of us cop on this site, they would be MSRP 1200-1300 a wheel in chrome. Not as far off as you think. Again, these are MSRP numbers thats what most of us are over looking (Hit up vendors, I am sure they can cut off a couple hundred per wheel assuming the discounts don't change on this model cause its limited)

if you don't want to pay that much for the same design: buy the equip e05, 20x7.5 msrp at 1500 each as well

your lambo buddy. buy the equip e05 as well. that is what Jo did.

i don't understand why you keep saying is more. may be bahc is right stop looking at used.

the only thing i see why you think is super expensive now is exchange rate. 120 yen to 1 us dollar 10 years ago versus 76 yen to 1 us dollar today. inflation of course too...and yes they are not doing it for free...they are making $ on it too, just not from you.

keep in mind this is chrome finish, normally chrome is 150-200 more each wheel than let say silver/black polish

some people do the same shit they did on their job 10 years ago...and now they get paid more now what they fcuking expensive now not worth it???

no if the buyer know what is he/she looking at.

i seen so much of those 10+ years old wheels while people trying to sell them around 70% of brand new wheel pricing, and they go spend more to fix rebarrel refinish etc. not worth it, just buy new instead.

When you buy a rolex, its made from the highest grade stainless. Which is why its so heavy to begin with. And that is the basic Rolex.

AJ Has left the buildin:innoutrofl2:

i dont understand the referance...if your "high-grade" 304? stainless watch didnt say rolex on it, you wouldnt pay rolex prices. If they re-released the first watch they ever produced (im sure its considered a huge collectors item) i can bet a lot of people will shell out a lot of money for it. i personally think you yourself contradict your post...i know your ballin, and i know the car you drive doesnt match your budget, but you drive that car cus you love to mod it...i know personally, if i had 150k, i wouldnt buy a 150k car, id buy a ucf20, ucf31, and ls460 and put mods, including baller as rims, on each of em.

What I am saying is that the reason why people would not want to buy them is cause they were never a high grade to begin with. But yet they made a wheel in one bolt patter one finish but yet looks exactly like the wheel they had before just a different material

Far from ballin here bro, ballin on a budget and ain't nothing wrong with it cause being stupid with money don't let you ball at all. And for 6000 dollars retail, I would rather spend it on up coming luxury abstract and get something that is a true one off. Not some material difference copy work made to make some more money.

if it's on a car anything to distiguish between the forged and non-forged? or people will be clueless what model you have on your car? I know the new Rezax they have a forged model with I think a forged emblem or something to distinguish between the two. Huge price difference too.

I am a investor, i do day trading. I look for investments on everything. Its a main reason why a lot of my projects never get done cause its hard for me to part with the money to get them done. Like Blanco quoted, i will buy a grip of walmart shoes before i buy a retarded ass 200 nike shoe.

Its my opinion on the wheel, I guess its easier to understand when OG downgrades something, but when I do people think its an attack. And your right, it is! I know so many people that have had, or bought work equips, or people who want them. Its like if TE37 came out with a forged one.. didnt they? but it came in black and had a red sticker thingy on it? that was different and you can spot it a bit easier.

I do not under stand what the problem is in seeing where i am coming from on buying wheels that look the same as their previous wheels, and making a limited amount of them in only one size chrome, and one bolt pattern, instead of making a whole new line of forged goodness. That is where i have a problem about the money for. You aint baller buying a set 6k wheels for a 4k g50, its in my eyes borderline stupid wasteful.

I guess some see the value in it and some don't... I don't simply because it's such a dated wheel design... been gone only 4 years. Not very rare to find. I wish they did bring back the old Rexaz. That I would consider buying but not $1500 a wheel for 19s.

you guys have to consider that when the original Equip wheel was introduced into the U.S., the yen was trading at over 130 yen per dollar. Now with the exchange at 75 yen a dollar, its completely understandable that the retail would change. Pointing figures at Work Wheel and just bitching is completely moronic....

I love work wheels, but I don't love em that much. I would go so far as saying my amistad fiore2 is more rare since I never see them in the states and hardly if ever in japan. I have seen more Lock Dukes than mine which are similar to the auto cotures as well which are all wheels including the work equip than mine. So forged or not. I am selling my wheels for 8000 dollars and they only come in one finish one bolt pattern but I will rebarrel them to any size you want

Wheels make or break a car. And wars have started over less.

But at the end of the day, they are just opinions. With some factual points and some who don't see that. Since everyone pissedin everyone cerial I don't think anyone on here is going to comment on any one others build thread.

And OG you know you have a way of down grading something and everyone tends to agree but when someone else does it just like who da fizuck you talking about lol

why are they "bringing it back" when it was discontinued only in 2007? I don't see why they discontinued it if they think they will sell 100 sets at 1500 a wheel. Unless this is some kind of genius marketing strategy. They have a bunch of other old school wheels... why are they not bringing those back as well? I think it would be cool to see some Work RS-Betas on some hondas.

I agree it's dated style but yet the bbs lm is classic and looks good on almost if not everyhing. The equip is so beyond a simple five spoke design you can't really do anything to it other than remake the same wheel. But he veilside Andrew v is the Sam style just with a full center cap. Which I think should be brought back. And they did and did change it a bit too

I always thought the Rezax to be "legendary" when it came to the brand WORK. I remember back in mid to late 90s when having rezax was the shit. I believe those were forged too.. Even Enkei had a similar looking wheel...can't remember name.

I've always thought Rezax were the flagship of Work wheels.
because equip is the most legendary when it comes the the work brand image
I always thought the Rezax to be "legendary" when it came to the brand WORK. I remember back in mid to late 90s when having rezax was the shit. I believe those were forged too.. Even Enkei had a similar looking wheel...can't remember name.

I've always thought Rezax were the flagship of Work wheels.

If it gets in your feeling that much for me to say it, your not grown up enough to be in the VIP scene. So put your big boy pants on and share your opinions without talking shit fanboy....

I didn't come from Zilvia or any 240sx forums.. Even though I had owned a couple 240sx which never went anywhere. Just got rid of them since they were need of too much attention and I don't think there was a Zilvia forum back then. I think NICO ruled back then. Everyone with 240s were more road racing them. I did however have a AE86 coupe that I fixed up but never drifted and that was short lived. I was more on the Club4AG and ephatch back then and alittle of honda-tech and g20.net. But I feel I don't come from any 240 back ground. I think people here are more from the Honda days and either moved to S2K or EVO or Sti or 350z/g35 or at the very end VIP (Since it's such a small niche group)

Man i wish i had the money.. But then again im kinda happy with my reps/cheap wheels. Its whatever to me, its whatever keeps me rolling down the street that keep me happy, and that would be my lexus. But then again if i have the cash laying around some where i would love to pick these up no doubt. To be honest, i came from the subie game, i've ran rotas and other fake wheels, then it came one day i had the chance to special order a set of custom works for my wagon and was Very happy knowing no one had the same set.. But at the end it was all the same.
