For what is worth I was going to paint my car glacier frost mica (a pearl white) but backed off of it because there's lots of dudes rocking the same color scheme & gold wheels. Diamond graphite Ms are rarely modded unlike Umbria grey, black and/or white, so I'm very glad the bodyshop was procrastinating on my ride... makes me think that everything does happen for a reason. The last thing I want is to copy or my car to look like anybody else's shit. For instance I picked the non sport 08+ bumper to upgrade my car's fascia not only cuz it looks better to me (my opinion) but because most people who upgrade their 06/07 Ms front bumper go for the sport one.
So if nobody's sporting the black satin you speak of, I say go for it my dude. GL.

Hey go for the satin or matte finish if you like, every little detail stands out more with those finishes. New Benzes are an extra couple thous. for a matte finish. Def. less prep and cost for a satin. Later.

Slo N Lo Benzo, how do you figure less prep? You still clear a satin finish. You have to mix flattener in the clear for that finish. You don't just spray a base because a base has no UV protection.

Definitely candy wine. I don't think satin goes with the classic design of the y33. I'd love to see a really nice Bordeaux red Personally.

Speed, you can spray a single stage satin black with no need to clear, also no need to prep as much for the thicker single stage paint. Matte finishes do need to be clear coated with low % gloss clear and you can then control the amount of shine you want or dont want. Later.

I agree... I'd stay away from satin black. Is that color getting popular or something? Ever since Dark Knight I keep seeing more cars in a flat black to satin black. From Sclass to GTR to civics. What's going on? Honestly it kinda looks like the cheap china fender I got for my civic when I had to replace it. I say go for that tiger eye color VIP+TINT mentioned.

Set trends, dont follow... b different, but do what you like & what your heart tells you at the end of the day... eventually ppl (smart ones) will recognize your efforts. I see a lot of potential with that color... dudes in Japan rock pink cars with lemon lime interiors & ppl over here b drooling over that ish but if someone over here does it, you need to go buy a VIP for dummies book while their own car is white on gold wheels. Cant advance a culture with a knack for close mindedness.

I say no to any candy paint. Unless you are a master at doing it, or know a shop that has done it, and you have seen the out come many times from them. So many shops that say they do, suck. It is all zebra stripped and isnt fogged right, and looks really tacky as hell.
Dont know what your car looks like, or what you are all doing to it.. but Satin black, with bbs lms, hell it can be knock offerys til you get the real deal. But those wheels with a red center, and white lip so it looks hot rodish while being vip. and you got your self a awesome fresh whip

theres lots of ppl on here with resprays...a lot of browns, reds, a purple, hell even my white isnt OEM...however most of us chose not to be loud (not that loud is a bad thing)...if thats your thing, satin black is even more far off haha..but do what you want in the end and itll be dope..i still think satin cherry wine would be sick with the right details and contrasting colors

I hate matte black paint... it ALWAYS looks like rattlecan primer to me. Not classy in the least - it looks temporary at best. Also, it's pretty played out here in SoCal.
I've always liked that Soprano Purple. I tend to like more saturated colors. My NSX is black and I hate the color (boring).

[QUOTE=33flavors;410383]hey you can just pick up a jdm bumper for less than 300 - depends on what you feel is more cost effective - modding the us bumper as far as styling could be an issue - you like the lip kit on the jdm version style - you might have a different opinion when you try to mod it- my two cent cause the fogs are different

the color is nice but why repaint the whole car with dents on the hood? I never understood that...it literally takes 15 mins to fix those 2 dents...

They already took care of the hood I saw them when I went to check up on the car...I don't hound them when they are taking care of the car...so everything is all good!

Man, that's a hot color. Any high quality pix? Maybe some unedited SLR pix so we can see what it really looks like.

I like it. In the US, this style paint is usually associated with Hot Rodders, but of course does not mean it can only be used by Hot Rodders. Apply it to a style that comes from outside of the US, and you got something new. I like the fact that you are taking a chance and trying something new. I think it came out dope. I can sort of envision what you're going for, except not sure what finish your wheels will be. I think the finish of the wheels will play a big role now. But whatever you do, I think it will look really nice in the end. First thing I thought of when I saw the pics was pinstripes. Always thought flat colors looked good mixed with pinstripes. But maybe thats the Hot Rodder association thing rubbing off on me (Hot Rodders like to mix pinstripes with flat colors). I was thinking something similar to the Signal Auto Japan style of pinstripes. Lots of different ways you could do it. Just an idea ...

My thoughts exactly...the pinstripping would be dope but immature come up with a new twist that can accent the y33 body style

Looks pretty damn good. Definitely a huge difference between a proper satin paintjob and just flat black, something a lot of people (unfortunately) do not understand.

Flat Grigio Estoque works absolutelly well on most cars...
Or go out and do something like this: Its flat brown. Looks like chocolate:
wrap that junk besides you can change colors easy and by yourself.
