I am having my wheels rebuilt. I have the option of a polished lip, or a chrome lip. Just wondering what everyone perfers, and the the advantages of one vs the other.
Polish all the way. Chrome looks ghetto to me specially with chrome faces. Not to say some people dont pull off chrome very well, i just stick to silver/polish finishes. I dont think it matters as much to me on the lips as it does on the wheel faces though.
It depends on the wheel design & lip size, if you're talking about the wheels on your sig I'd say polished all day long.
Chrome has more shine. Polish lips looks good too but requires maintenance.
I'd go with polish as well. All the wheels I've had were always polished. Maintaining them isn't too bad..

More often than not, I prefer chrome over polished (I voted chrome). In the end, it's about personal preference and what kind of look you want to achieve.
a chrome lip looks a lot better than a polished one and it is easier to keep clean, but it is also very expensive to repair if it gets damaged.

i bought used wheels with chrome lips that were all scratched up. i had them polished up and they looked great. high maintenance though! dont let polished lips stay dirty for too long!
The questions that should be asked are.... Daily driven? Garaged? If the answer is yes to the first and no to the latter, you need chrome.

polish is easy to repair also i just had mine repolished they look like new for $200 for all 4 :) thanks son
^ very true, you can also sand out rash if your lady drives the car lol

It's my hooptie, lol. looks like everyone here likes polished. My car is parked outside everyday, daily driven, and probably only washed once every 2 or 3 weeks. you think chrome is the better option for me?

When either is properly maintained they look about the same imo. But polished wheels are easier to repair. Not to mention you dont have to worry about rechroming from damage or age. Edit. Chrome wheels will peel and such when you dont take care of them. THen your wheels look like they have leprosy and that shit aint cool.

Cant go wrong with either way high polish is more forgiving if scratched, you can repolish. Cali doesnt see much snow so no need to worry about tarnishing the chrome from rocksalt.
Chrome. Its allot easier to clean off when dirty and it shines better in the sun. But like Phillygs said... that rocksalt is what ya gotta watch out for.
I was teeter tottering on this very same thought just last week when I dropped off my AME's to wheelflip to get the lips redone. I went with a high polish finish at the end of the day. Asking to get these Japanese wheels chromed just didn't sound right...? haha that was my logic:pat:
What is the average for chroming a lip? I know for high polish it is about 25-40 a lip depending where you go..
I'd go with chrome on the lips, especially if your doing something different with the faces...
