Small rust spot on M45

My 2003 M45 has a rust spot the size of a pencil eraser on the roof. I can sand the spot and use touch up paint. anyone have any tips on what else I should do? I would like to fix it soon, before the rust gets worse. :signdammit:

you will definitely need to repaint it...grind it down until the rust is completely removed...depending how bad the rust is, you will either put a skim coat of filler, prime then paint or replace with sheet metal...

I had the same problem with my 02 F50, the roof started rusting. But it wasnt just one spot, it was like 5-7 spots. And to make it worse, all the rust was bubbled, not chipped, meaning it was rusting from under the paint. In my opinion this indicated a factory defect in the painting process, something I did not expect from Infiniti, especially the higher model car. I had a horrible experience at King Infiniti trying to have this covered under warranty, but they did end up covering it. In fact, most warranty experiences at King Infiniti were horrible, and looking back, I probably could have enacted the "Lemon Law" on that F50.

If you are not experienced with bodywork, I would take it to a pro. You might end up in the same situation next year if the rust is not removed properly and completely.

Do you have a reccomendation on a body shop preferably on the windward side? I cant believe i have a rust spot on the roof. The car is detailed every few months. I hope is just a small spot because i dont want to spend the money to repaint the whole roof.

I think my car is showing it's age. My joystick on the center console broke also. The spring or something must've popped out cause there is no tension on the joy stick.

I would try the least aproach first , wet sand 2500-3000 grit , buff , then toped off with a paint sealant weekly...
