And The Build Begins!!

AHHH! They finally came home!

The goods have come home! All safe and sound when I arrived home. (No pictures of packaging because I was too excited so i pretty much blew up the whole box and tore straight into the parts like it was x-mas eve!). Packaging made by UAS was the best I've seen in years, everything was separated, not one single scratch on any of the suspension pieces! They've even painted the shocks after re-welding to match with everything. HUGE props to Mike from Original Garage. I luckily found him after i stumbled upon VSC forums.

Below are the old parts that originally came with the BC Coilovers.

The new pieces!

Forum image

Front Shocks were unmodified.

Forum image

Only the Top-hats were replaced (if that's what you call them, you can see the difference between the new ones, and the old ones in gold in the first picture).

Forum image

Here are the bottom of the rear shocks that had to be rewelded.

Forum image

Here are the top half of the rear shocks (it's sort of an adaptor so that the bags sit properly in the rear).

And Last but not least, the bags!

what type of bottom perch is that? Is it threaded onto the shock threads so its adjustable? or is it welded on? or is it just freefloating and just sitting on the BC original perch? Nice stuff man... do you already have the compressor and tank?

I'll be honest, I expected it to be fully assembled when it was shipped home to me, unfortunately it was not, so I'll be calling Mike almost everyday to make sure I put together the suspension correctly LOL...

I haven't purchased the compressor and tank because bills are currently owning me. I'm no way in debt, but I dont like to dip myself into a steep hole, so the 2nd half of the goodies can wait :)

What?!?! You got a credit card??? Use that shit! =) Just kidding dude, glad to see youre being sensible about building your car. Did I miss what kind of car these are going on? I assume its a GS if you had to modify the rear bag mount. I just got BC coils for my car. Maybe Ill add some UAS later on. Got any pics of your car?

I've just recently paid off 12k alone in CC debts, never wanna go that route again LOL. After it was paid off my CC line sky rocketed to a whopping 6k per card! I didn't formally introduce myself and the car when I first joined lol.... I was too interesting in finding out how the suspension would work on my vehicle.....

Here are some pics of the car for the time being until it gets back out of the paint shop again (this is the 4th or 5th time in the last 2 months it's in the paint shop :( ).

$6K credit limit isn't that much.... How many cards do you have to rack up a 12K balance with small limits before? I only have 2 credit cards that I use and combined I think limit is 30K+ You have to make sure you use less than 20% of what your limit is to keep your FICO score up. Have no more than 7 TOTAL credit cards...including gas cards, department store, etc. When I learned this I started cancelling all the cards I never used and didn't need. I kept one CC that I never used only because I enrolled a long time ago and length of history matters too. When I bought my F50 from the dealer they ran a credit score of 804 back in I think 2006ish. Most recent score I think I was in the mid 700s but thats because I got a few loans. Should sky rocket again once the loan is paid off end of this year.

So what kind of perch is that? Is it threaded?

Damn, 15k per card? I had 6k per card, 5 cards with 6k on'em each, so that was about 30k, but i never maxed all of them out... I ended up over my head so I paid off 3 cards, kept two, and I don't put myself more than 100-200$ over per month, anything over i stop all transaction with that card (so i don't tempt myself back into it) and pay it off lol.... I was also told to keep that 20% and last i checked my credit was around 650-700 or so too, no way in heck i had a 800+ score lol.... I was in debt for a loooooong time, kept paying minimum minimum minimum.

Anywho, what did you mean by perch? I'm still very new to suspension.... I came more from a homeland that did engine building than suspension work. So I'm not very familiar with terms, that's why I hit up OG, he's helped me a lot with the choices I made so far... (thank god) lol.

the lower bag mount just rests on the lower lock nut. the only modification done is shortening the lower bracket to relocate the bag back to the bottom of the strut (clearance issues).

best thing to do is to get rid of all the cards you don't need... no reason to have more than 2 cards. It just means you are spending more than you earn OR you were in a situation where you had to feed your family or any other such priority such as paying for school. When I was in kind of your situation I consolidated all my debts to 1 card and sent all my payments towards it.... When you get offers to transfer amounts with say 6months 0% DO IT and pay it off. Man you are the credit card companies dream customer. They must have been making couple hundred a month off of you on interest. Good job paying that sucker off though and try to stay away from it and you are ahead of the game. Them increasing your limit is also a good thing since you debt to limit ratio is lower. I sometimes call the CC companies to raise my limit and lower my APR. You can do that...they'll review your spending and payment and they will try to help you. They obviously saw that you are responsible and paid off your cards...therefore raise your limit...but why? You didn't ask for it...its because they want you to spend again... god I love CC companies...lol

Perch is what the spring sits on...It's also called a collar I think.

Thanks OG I kinda figured it was configured that way but wanted to make sure and see what my options are too..

Damn, you it hit ON THE SPOT! you're right, i HAD to pay for school.

As for the CC's, i cut all except two up. I only use one though, the other card the company owes me 70c LOL..... I use the one card for cash rewards hehehe. You're definitely right about that though, after i cut up my cards, they sent me craptons of junkmail with "sign up for this" or "sign up for that". My mom took the liberty of shredding those papers up for me hahahaha.

Probably tomorrow i'll start putting the suspension together in the garage, they say it's going to be 84 highest (much better than 90+!).

wow its that hot in florida? It's like 40s at night and upper 70s during the day and I think its cold....So Cal

Wait... so you got the compressor and tank and lines? If I were you I'd get the electrical and compressor/tank and valves done first before anything...and lastly install the coilover/bag and run the lines. Reason is once you start the coilover/bag install you might run into a snag while doing the compressor/tank and then your car isn't driveable. atleast doing the wires installation and compressor/tank you could still drive your car around with stock suspension... up to you..

ohh i don't mean assemble onto the car yet, I have to rent out a space for the day to do that, this'll be my first time so I'd like to have the car on a lift, so in case the suspension is too low I can adjust it up and down with ease and not scrape the lip kit, I can't even put up a jack under the car to lift it up, I have to use the OEM jack.

I mean assemble the shocks together, I'll take pics afterwards, so let me know if it's all done right? :)

ahh ic... sweet. maybe you should use some 2x4 and build something drive up on just enough to fit the jack under. I did that and worked well.

thanks ultm8mind, I've been wanting to find someone who's been experienced with this kinda stuff to give me a bit of help on the setup.....

I left my "race car" phase like 3-4 years ago, I had a whole closet full of parts ready to pan on my miata for 400+ hp and then i just sold the car, sold the parts, and now i'm sitting with this beautiful GS :)

TTP and CFT are both speed shops, am i correct? They don't seem like the right place to bring my air suspension to haha

I never heard of Joe, but Kam's a good friend of mine lol.... Thanks for the tips! I'll hit up either of them when I'm ready for the install on the car.
