1999 q45 front suspension question..

I have 99 q45 that needs front shocks replaced ( or it feels as though it does.).
I have the adjustable suspension which is controlled from inside the car.
Found the front shocks/struts but the dealership wants 365 bucks a piece!
ANy way around this or can i convert it using kyb's or another brand?
Or can this be bypasses with coilovers?
Im saying it needs new shocks since i hear a clunking when i brake and go over speed bumps. Also the ride is a lil bouncy.

they arent cheap for oem replacements, but if you plan on dropping it....buy some coils. bc coils are already setup with the knuckles so you dont have to cut/weld your original struts to get other coils setup (megan, pbm, etc)

ok. one last question.
Are there any kyb's, tokiko, or any other performance shock that is not a kyb sr2 fit on my car? also what about lowering springs?

Yes there are lowering s springs and shorter struts but for VIP you mighht as well skip it and go straight to coilov er s. I still have the motors in my garage for my oem suspension because I removed it all when I did Y32 coils on mine.

Check vendors on here for whatever set up you decide to go with.

wait im confused :yahoo_39: do some coils already come with knuckles or spindles? ex. megan makes coils now for the y33's with the spindles already on.

anyone care to chime in? just want to clarify if its knucles or spindles or if its the same thing.

yes, but they also have cheaper versions in which you cut your factory hubs off and have them welded on.

the aftermarket solutions use their own proprietary hubs.

Sorry I wasn't clear about my question. My question is, are spindles & knuckles the same thing?

no. but they are one piece in this case. the knuckle is what your strut is welded to. and what your tie rod end bolts to. and your lower ball joint.
the spindle is what your hub bolts on to.

so like i say, they are the same thing in this case, if it has one. it has the other.

if its making noise going over things and braking like a clunking sound you say, it might not be suspension. it could possibly be ball joints as well. just a suggestion
