GS300 NA-T?!?!?!?!
So I was browsing through CL and I saw this.
Its a GS300 2JZ Turbo'ed. This is the first time I've seen this. I thought only the Supra 2JZ engines could be turbo'ed. Anyone wanna educate me on this please? I'm pretty mind fucked.

There are tons of NA-T Supras out there as well. I think its a pretty reliable concept.

the SC300,GS300 and even the Supra non-turbo have the 2jzge. depending on who you ask its similar and very different from the 2jzg(t)e. with a little bit of money a 2jzge can be a potent motor. been around for a while more so in the Supra community, i tempt myself of doing a na-t supra build all the time lol

Ahh I see. I did a bit of research and found that the GE motor and tranny can only run up to around 375HP and after that it'll just be bad. So the better way would be to get the 2JZ-GTE no?

I've seen them before John, but I didn't know Supras came with an NA engine.

the stock 5sp in the Non-turbo supra are OK till about 400whp. the 2jzge long as it in very good condition. with a really good tune and proper parts itll do 400whp and itll take it.
yes just be better with a 2jzgte , you dont need to worry about anything till 900 or whp .

Yeaup, and I'm looking to go the Supra TT brake upgrade. The base price should be 400 with the rotors and calipers no?

The thing about going NA-T, is that the GE head flows better from factory. Just convert the block to GTE is required, so drill-n-tap turbo oil feed/return holes, connect a couple oil passages in the block, add oil squirts, put GTE pistons and rods, thicker head gasket and preferably a better intake mani and your set. The R154 box can easily take alot more than 400whp, just needs an upgraded clutch and 2nd gear... many many MkIII's are rolling with it putting down around 600-800whp
And yeah around 400$ sounds right for the used brakes, brand new front calipers were 600 bucks in the US...

Yeah I got the 2JZ-GTE in my Aristo, ported head, single turbo, us-spec supra's cams and injectors, E-manage ultimate +++
My friend has done 4 GE->GTE block modifications in our garage in the past year

I heard its more expensive to go the GE to GTE conversion instead of just buying a whole new engine

Well lemme calc...
Full 2JZ-GTE motor with loom, ecu, aux's etc. is around 2500-3500$ delivered from Japan in <3 months.
Conversion: drill-n-tap kit 20$, long 8mm(?) drill bits <50$, oil squirts 200$, drill 30$, bolts&fitting >50$, good used GTE pistons&rods 400-600$ (good for <800whp), new head gasket 150$... totals ~ 900-1100$
What ever option you'r going with you need a built auto(3k) / R154(2k+ with a better clutch) / Getrag(5k+ with a better clutch), turbo kit(1,5-3k), engine management(500-3000$), upgraded fueling (500-3000$), basic maintenance done to both engines and if going manual then there's the pedal/trans tunnel mods and misc... Also there really is no point swapping in the GTE and running with the oem twins

True... Gah... decisions decisions. I should just concentrate on getting my coilovers and rims before anything. I bit more than I can chew right now

Well it's vip style, so form>function... 1st get the look right and then make it go

Btw bro how come you haven't yet created a build thread? At least I didn't find one... make stuff happen and share the fruits of your labor with us:biggthumpup:

Also one other thing about the GE block is that it hasn't been stressed like the boosted GTE blocks. And hence worth the block isn't nearly as fatigued before you go na-t, and will therefore take more beating/boosting for a lot longer time than the beat up 20year old Aristo engines you would buy from Japan

Well I'll let you know when the summer comes here and I get my beast on the road. It should put out around 450-500whp and Imma roll with -15* camberz fron2back. Bet shit's going to be scary as fuck =)

You won't find any weakness with the GE at 375hp....the 5spd or stock auto tranny will be your issue. For higher HP's, you will need an R154 or V160 transmission.
Please visit club NA-T, club lexus, or supra forums for more info.

Yeah I failed to include that bit in my previous cmment... the stock 5spd W58 found on NA Supra etc is weak, can barely handle the power of a BPU twin turbo. My buddy robbed his daily of the Getrag for his driftter and put a W58 on it and it was quite bad. The R154 5spd found on MA70/JZA70 3rd gen turbo Supras, JZX Chasers/MarkII's/Crestas and Soarers is a whole diff beast as I stated above. Just forgot to make a reminder of the differences. I've learned not to think about W boxes when talking about Supra 5spds, 'cuz no one would ever try to use it in a serious build=)

^ Flying me in and paying for the booze&cigs will be more expensive than the GTE+Getrag swap. Alkaholiks ftw :smiley-rofl:
But seriously hit up
http://www.supraforums.com , there's tons of info on the subject and Club NA-T aswell. Just sit back with a case of beer and enjoy studying, that's what I did when I got in the game
