Ucf20 v. 2.0 build thread

So after I had got rid of my ls400 I realized what a mistake I had made. So I bought another one. 

Here's what I got so far

After coilovers, kit and my old wald 3pc spoiler I had bought back from the new owner of my old ls.

I picked up some 19" fabulous profounds, they have been at the shop getting completely refinished right down to the wheel bolts. I should have them back this week

I'll post some more pick in a couple weeks, car is going in for paint soon so it'll ba after that

version select kit?

Yea it is really the only full kit I like that I don't have to wait 4months for. Waiting for my wald kit left a bad taste in my mouth lol

how the fitment/quality with version select? thinking of useing parts of it

i got the version select kit for the 98-00 but sold it.. the fitment was ok but not prefect there was some gaps some areas and for the quality its ok but i think one drop it will crack ... it seem like you need to add your own fiberglass to make it strong...

Looks good

My vs kit fits flawless, no gaps, and I actually dropped it a few times trying to bolt it up and no cracks. The fiberglass is pretty strong. 

Maybe you had got a bad mold?

I think I'm going to be static awhile, I'll eventually do air again, but I'm going to go with a higher quality kit, air runner maybe? Or something so I don't run into the same problems.

I think so too, but I notice a lot of kits do that lol, my wald kit did too.

Yup light silver with a metallic top coat. I got all the lips repolished and bolts as well. I'll post pics when I pick them up tomorrow :p

It's a powdercoat from Garageworks, Cody does awesome work.

Well the stickers on the wheels say 19x9/10 +36/38 but I think the lips were replaced to larger ones the front lips are bigger than my victrix were and they were +25. I'm going to look up how to measure the offset and do that tomorrow before the tires are mounted

nice wheels. they could very well still be +30s offset as the spoke design allows for a larger lip comparing to your older set. it's all in the inner face. do an actual measurement when you have time.

Omg... So I measured the wheels today, the lips were changed. They measure 19x10/11. Haven't done offset yet. Wheels are on the car though. Pix tomorrow.

Back is at the perfect height for me now. Once I match the front it'll be perfect.

Im thinking about picking up a couple pieces so i can chop them up, rather do it to the VS kit than a real one with the amount of work i have in mind lol.

It's not a knock off, just a lower price kit, the full kit is like 1200$, knock offs are like 499$ ish :p. And lower quality glass

Haha at first glance it would look that way, that is really close match. 

I'm pretty sure vs does original kits though, never seen a kit look like it, that was the closes one I have seen :p

I stole someone's idea(can't remember who it was) and painted my calipers with the metal specks paint. I'll take pics later when I wake up in the light, can't really see the sparkle in the garage.

vs does a lot of knock offs, but they resell some low price original pieces also. this one looks like a replica, without door panels, to me though.

A replica of what? From what I know vs only makes two kits, a full kit and a lip kit. And both are originals, had this kit on a q45 also, was exact same style as well. So not sure which ones you are saying are knock offs or what my kit is a knock off of

OG might be partially right, it looks like a very mildly changed AC Complete kit... but the rear seems more aggressive and the front bumper inlays next to the fogs arent as deeply set.   right on the border of being unique enough i think.

Agreed, the sides are different too though. Vs sides have the rocker supports on each end and are completely flat. I believe by law for something to be considered original it has to be at least 30% changed. Could be wrong though, but I feel comfortable enough to say it's an original and not a knock off

On another note, ordered my Jp hood mascot from sessions today, so should be getting that soon, car goes in for paint on Monday, so next update will be when it comes out of paint.

came out super nice!! you should space out the wheels a lil and run some camber so they poke a lil more would look better imo

Got my knots and threw some fog lights in to cover my holes in the front bumper. Not sure how I like them. But they will do for now

I found some pretty cool sear covers, they are suede and have the break away for side airbags. Found them at autozone of all places and they fit really conformed to the seats.

Small update. Finally got around to doing my rotors, and changed my brakes while I was at it.

Is the headlights OEM?

No.replaced them with aftermarket clear lights

Rotors came out clean need a full side pic...

although not a fan of your wheel fitment(sunk-in), i love that kit(classy) and the hood mascot is a nice touch too. 

any plans to change your wheel setup in the future?

Just lights. Yeah small is the way to go medium is way too big.
