White Static Low Y33 - My first vip car here we go

What's up guys. I've been on here for a minute but haven't had a chance to start a build thread. It won't be much but bolt ons and goodies until I graduate and get a real job.

99 Q45- white on tan
Up to around 150k miles now and loving every minute=]

the week I picked her up

I gotta say I enjoyed cruising a grandpa looking car and staying under the radar from cops. My cars tend to stand out like sore thumbs lol

Then I went against my own golden rule and got wheels before suspension (was really waiting for the pbm vips to arrive). 18x10, 18x12

front not getting low enough. I ended up having to remove, chop stuff, and reinstall so the dampers went down farther for more travel. That obviously only helped damper stroke, not the ride height, so I ended up chopping the springs.. ya I know real vip lol had to do it on my college budget

test fit the shelbies

I had a shop put in a simple fucking axle in while I was at work and got it back with my door looking like this:
Forum image

Ok so they said theyd pay to fix it. meanwhile I filed a small claims suit the same day just to cover my ass just in case. I stop by the next day and the entire shop was cleared out and the landlord told me he moved to miami.:saiyancrunks:

Anyway I got 5% tint and I couldnt stand how embarrassing the front lips on the shelby wheels were, so I decided to sell them. Bought these puppies off CL for 300 bucks with new tires just to hold me over
Forum image

Was bored and since the tires on the front of the shelbies were the same and I had spacers to fine tune, I ran the two faced look for about a week before I sold them hehe

I plan to finish those this weekend.

My fitment and ride height need some work but I've got different size spacers on route and removed my primary cats, all mufflers, and tucked it way up so I can get as low as I want

So many Y33 builds popping up lately seems like everyone all at once decided to go with these year models now haha...
That statement doesn't take anything away from your build very nice and looking forward to updates

Appreciate it. It probably has to do with the fact that they are so damn cheap. IMO these are easily one of the most undervalued cars on the used market. I picked mine up for 3.8k with 118k last winter, completely mint besides for some scuffs on the bumpers from city parking. You really cant find a much nicer car for that price. USDM non-tourings are stupid ugly stock though IMO lol

F.L.S.;444879 wrote:that last shot is fire! Equal front / rear wheel lip to fender lip FTW. Very nice, love the house too.
Thanks dude. I'm all about the front fitment being comparable to the rear. Not big on crazy staggered set ups or uneven camber front to rear. Just my personal style, which is why those 18x10/12s werent for me. And yeah thanks, my mom's house is very stylish haha. It would be nice for a photoshoot but you can tell in the bottom left that it needs some siding and work done

here's a clip of the exhaust. Im really happy with how it turned out. Im assuming I cant embed youtube vids?

Nice may 27th?!! I cant believe I can actually make it to this! haha Meets/shows rarely fall at the right times for me. I'll definitely be stopping out. I meant to come out last year in my e36 but I tried going to georgia for sowo the week before and ended up snapping a motor mount and cracking my oil pan on the way down:pat: lol

It's not as bad as it seems in the vid. Im gonna take an actual video and see how it comes out. I had no choice but to pull the first set of cats since they hang sooo low. The second set are still in there just tucked away. Then straight all the way back. I got no cats like this and it aint that bad

I agree

this happened to my friend and i. when it happened I went to the police to see if theyd be able to help and they literally were like "damn you shouldn't have gone there. That guy is a crack head." :pat: lol apparently they literally caught the owner smoking crack a few times and somehow hes allowed to operate a shop

Thanks everyone. Alpine is right the car isnt THAT loud. I still have my secondary cats but everything else is straight piping. totally bareable for me. It's super loud but with the windows up and some tunes on it's all good. On the highway is smooth sailing, no drone

So I tried to pull my lenses off using my oven. realized that my headlights didnt even come remotely close to fitting in my oven. lmao So I just used a heat gun

painted the housings. Kind of a jdm headlight inspired usdm headlight if that makes sense. I didnt want to paint them to look exactly like black housing usdms

how they turned. im swapping the amber bulbs today for clears so there will be no more amber in the lights

Fronts poke more yeah haha. I need a spacer to clear the fronts and I just used the 25mm I had laying around. I got the pbm adjustable spacers on the way though. 10mm less poke will allow me to slam it down for a nice flush fit. And then I'll space the rear maybe 2-3mm and it will be even. No camber arms so I just work with the stock arms. Eventually when I can afford it I want to do bigger lips all around so I can ditch the spacers and an s-chassis conversion for more front camber and less track width.

skid plate is dope but cutting the logo out of it (not well might i add) makes no sense to me. as soon as those potruding pieces of metal catch something it could become more of a liability than an asset.

Thanks and yeah I know I agree lol I wasn't there when they powder coated and bolted it up. The cutouts aren't in a spot that is important and that part angles up. The cutouts are sloppy but I'm not complaining for them hooking me up so I don't mind and I won't see it much haha. we're welding brackets on it this weekend so the whole thing will be flush instead of having those little bolts on the bottom

We basically just unbolted the first cats and made straight pipes that bolt in where the cats do. Then next year when I need an inspection, I can just bolt them back in

some pics from a shoot, lemme know what you guys think(just disregard the decal and foglight, supposed to be fixed and removed before hand but the shoot was a spur of the moment kind of thing):

Yeah the fronts are giving me some issues still but getting it down around an inch is 100% next on the list. No point in doing anything else until that's situated. Gonna reinstall the coils and mod some stuff for more damper stroke, mount the skidplates differently, and then I'll be good to go low.

got tint tickets and an exhaust ticket last night though:signdammit:

well I got more tint tickets last night on top of a few outstanding tickets so I pulled the fronts off. I want to do exactly what you said. A real light tint like 70-50%.. The windows are 70% stock iirc so cant really do anything without being illegal but I dont think I'd get shit for a 50%. Plus it'll probably be a grey or gunmetal tint, not regular tint. I wanna make my interior pop a little

Yup. Long gone, kind of wish I kept it for myself, I just didnt like the idea of running a rep but now I wish I experimented with it like youre saying. It def had a lot of potential and a rep kit is perfect for tinkering with. But yeah I can get more from japan for a fraction of the price of a legit kit but I need a few people in on it to spread the shipping costs out or else it wouldnt be worth it. Rep kits are not really welcome in this community (for good reason) so getting others interested wouldnt be easy. PM me if you wanna try to work something out.

I haven't done a single thing to this car in forever. Just maintenance and playing with some wheels. It's my daily driver right outside nyc. I did make some overfenders for my drift car and I figured you guys might appreciate the custom work that went into that.
Here are some really shitty pics anyway
