Some Updated pictures of my Y33..Coilovers installed

Heres a couple of pictures for you guys. I got my Jics finally installed..No problems mission accomplished..Thanks to Precision Brake and Allginment off Road Center.
I ordered some spacers to push out the wheels for now untill I can afford some nice 19's..I still have about 3" or more of play on thes babies..but once I get my spacers will go lower and roll the fenders..

the Y33 body style has grown on my tremendously.  Great start!

The wheels are 20x8.5,20x9.5. I'm not really sure how much its lowered. I still have way more I can down like 2-3 inches or more. I think straight off the back the JIC's are shorter than even maxed out at full hieght over the stock struts, becuase its really not lowered that much and like I said there is way more adjustability.

lookin good!  why don't you just keep the 20's and work with those?  i'm sure if you lower the car another 3" you'll get a nice drop and tuck.  i'm looking into the same coilover setup from JIC but i noticed they require a $400-$500 core charge for the spindle.  does this mean you have to remove yours and send it out when you order?  wouldn't that mean downtime for your car?  that's the only thing swaying me away from this setup.

YEs sir, you have to send in your spindles so they can cut them off and weld them to the JIC shock body. It does make you have downtime quite a lot actually. They have to send them to Japan to have that done. Or you can buy antbo's he is selling some. The good thing about getting used is you can keep your stock spindles in case you need to revert.

As far as the wheels I agree, they really arn't that bad for now and with either an aero kit or painted moldings, some spacers a little nit lower and some smaller tires I think it will look good..

thanks for the input!  yeah that downtime is a bit unattractive but i guess you gotta do what you gotta do.  i may look into antbo's if he still has them by the time i'm ready to buy  =P  but yeah, definitely work with the 20's and take pics when you lower it even more.  i'm thinking about getting 20's for my Y33 as well.  keep up the good work!

I see you have 20s, but what brand are they and what's the offset if you know.  They  look pretty good to me.  I've been debating everything from 18s-20s. all have sizes have pros and cons.  So far 20s are making the most sense for me.

The wheels are 20x8.5f+38 and 20x9.5r+40.
The wheel brand is AZA staggered wheels..They are nice for the price.

what about tire specs?  always wondered what type tires to use on 20's

depends what width you go and if you want a mild or wild stretch, but for a nice stretch 225/35f on a 8.5-9" wheel and 235-245/35 on a 9.5-10" wheel looks good depending on tire..not all tires stretch the same.

Great info. Had no idea I had to do all that just to get the JIC coils.

I think thats why a lot of fools like to order used ones. its just a pain the other way. Side note I just ordered 25mm spacers for the front and rear. once they get here I will through them on, roll the fenders and mayb take her down another inch or so..maybe not will see. I all ready have tire tucked under neath the fender and dont know how much tire you can put without pulling..

Yeah I have plans for aero kit. Sometime this year if all goes well. If not I will at least paint the bottom black moldings till then.

Then I decided to take off the front spacers and leave the rear spacers on

Then I lowered the rear some more. There is 1.5 inches of space between the fender and the wheel..does not scrape or rub..

Then I noticed as I was taking photos that the front needed to be lowered. So I got home and lowered it some more making it 1.5 inches from the rim to the fender and now when I tried to go for a test It rubbed crazy I could not even move. The top of the tire must have been right against the inner fender lining. It got to late to mess with any more tonight so I will raise it back up in the morning to where I can drive again...

Maybe need smaller tires  now so that I can lower it more in the front to match the rear..I am hoping a 225/35/20 will do maybe a 225/30/20 but that is pretty small..What to do what to do..hhhmmmmmmmmmmmm Any body have this problem and know how to correct it..Is it just to low for 20's? DO I need a Smaller Tire? DO I need a smaller tire and more - camber? Thanks for the input in advance!

What would happen if you banged the inner fender liner out of the way?
Or if it's plastic stretch it?
This is the best solution I could think of when looking at my own fenders.

Roll the lip on the front and put the spacers back on. You should clear fairly close to the lip. If not try some stretching.

Personal opinion the fronts look better with the spacer.

Depending on the width of the rim 225 should stretch good on 9's but also depends on the series tire. 45 stretch i would assume 30 would stretch a bit more with a smaller sidewall.

Whats the wheel width? and offset (just curious about the offset)

Wheel specs are as fallows:
20x8.5+38f
20x9.5+40r
Very Very conservative.

So I know 225/40 will stretch nicely on both 8.5 and 9.5 (of course alot more on the 9.5) but in a 20 i don't know if they have 40's lol
225/35 should do you justice.

Also depends on how close you want to get to the fender lip and how much rim exposure. You know how Tucson streets are.:mad:

Also what size tires you have on the front now? 235? 245?

given any thought to painting the very bottom lip of your front bumper too? I think it might look alittle cleaner if it was black too.

no black thats what I am trying to get away from..lol

It came like that. They told me becuase its the Touring Edition that it came painted.

Keep up the good stance!

Take a Sat or Sun and try and do the following:
- roll the fenders front and rear (you say you aren't rubbing as it is, but better safe than sorry)
- remove the front inner plastic liner... if you MUST leave part of it, cut the center out, and leave it attached to the rear end where it covers the back part of the fenders/front part of the rockers
- camber the fronts ever so slightly
- put spacers back on the fronts
- drive around and have fun

haha, idk about that, mines is a touring too and its that rubber black, i just thought that maybe the previous owner got into an accident and when they painted a new bumper sometimes body shops half ass masking thing off, idk, but hey atleast thats one less thing you have to worry about, i was thinking about painting all my stock lips, front to rear

Nice height and rims! Very cool... But jus a question. Why does the front sit lower than the rear? that's quite a rake stance you got there.

IMHO, level the chasis will looks much nicer...
