I just ordered some tein s-tech springs. Now I'm looking for a affordable shock/strut replacement that you guys have had good experience with.
Thanks

Not bad.
There aren't any aftermarket strut options that I've seen they're all going to have to be custom. What are the specs on the drop of the springs?

you should have kept you 320 bucks and get coils .. for 800 more .. food for thought !! lowering springs just bring this car to normal height ..

psMAX like I'm rolling are 1250, and they are AWESOME. I could go down 3" more easily, but that would put my wheels higher than the sub-frame LOL.
Honestly, there are no other options of replacement struts in USA. Trust me, I went through it with my Y33 Q45 and I've gone through it with my Y34 M45. KYB does make some for Japan, but they will not import them, and by the time you get them from Japan, your $400 KYB SR Special's end up costing 7-800, plus the 320 on Tein's and you're not very low, like KP said (about where stock SHOULD be), for about 100 less than coilovers which you could set at any height you want.
But since you already bought the Tein's, and the fact they only lower 1.75", I suggest you find OE replacements from somewhere like Everythinginfiniti.com and the ride will be like stock. When I got my Y34 I immediately put the Tein's on cause I couldn't afford any c/o's yet (my car was psMAX's development car) and I wasn't really planning on getting this car, so I hadn't done any research on it. But I knew I wasn't riding stock, so for the time being the Tein's were better than nothing - not much. They rode no different than stock so maybe you will be Ok with your stock ones unless you know they're bad.

I was weighing coils over springs, though the springs may be cheaper short-term, the coilovers are the better long-term investment.

Is the cutting and welding of the front tubes the only fabrication needed for these to work? Also, cutting the tubes at a perfect straight angle and welding on the new tubes straight seems like it would be difficult.

Cutting / welding front is the ONLY fab needed. If they're not perfectly straight, it doesn't matter, but there's no reason if you put the strut in a clamp and cut it straight, that it won't be straight.
Good luck whatever direction you go.

Based on what I've seen, you'll only want more drop. You shouldn't have a problem getting back what you paid for the springs.

Budget and a rare platform like the Y34 and Y33 don't really go together.

as much as I like my ride height and am not into the slammed/tucked look, I would have gone the PSMax coilover route had they been available when I got my springs.

I'm still debating PSM vs BC for my Y34...
never would have considered springs for this car. But I'm still young and love driving low.

yeah, I got lucky... some shop had a set laying around.
If my struts ever give up the ghost, I'll be selling the springs and going with the PSMax.

elusive, maybe. The eibach 6371.140s have been discontinued for the 03-04 M since 2006 I believe.
