Y33 6.0 Back to being VIP - Mind - Attitude - Execution

So I know I said it before that I'm selling and this will be the last time but I cant seem to let it go.  I'm car sick like crazy - an addict - lol so here is the plan that I've  started to execute.

So lets start with the rebarrel

19x10.5 -20 something  19x11.5 - 30 something

I really felt the need to do this because In my eyes I felt like the  front was overpowering the rear.  The car looked good but not from all angles

Color Change - Carbon Fiber Accents

Rear Diffuser - Dual Quad

Zenki Trunk - LED tails

Suspension - Short BAG

Trim the Front bumper

The objective is to roll and turn how they roll in Japan

I started with the re-barrel so i should see some new wheels in a couple of weeks - new offset and color - will update then

This is the rear set in on a 20x6 outer - I'm thinking 6.5 but I'll most likely go with a 19x6

I've gone back and forth about selling my car and getting out the scene several times. I love modding cars but I jus don't have that same passion for this scene anymore and driving low and breaking shit all the time is becoming lame, this being my only means of transportation and all. 
Also too much fuckery going on in this scene.

Honestly I think the car is flawed in so many ways 

The body lines will be worked back in - I'm most likely going with a dark gray/silver  or a black carbon which is not too far from black or matte - The red makes the car pop but I think its more so a distraction from some of the finer details and imperfection

I can't move on to interior which will be pretty basic - changing the color of stitching and head liner and adding the lexus sc430 dash to stealth the double din - I'm going to focus on lighting and exterior

Gonna be wicked with those specs, I can wait to see how you fit that shit lol

I think your car is perfect.   I think you should sell this to fund a new project and start from scratch.    I would imagine you could build a pretty dope F50.     I'd save the rims and fit it to that car and do all that other stuff you talked about.    With the knowledge you have you know exactly which steps to take and when to take them.   That's basically what I did with my F50 and went to Y33.  Reused most of my suspension bits.  I learned a few things and did things even better...well I think it's better...lol    I'm still going to figure out how to get lower and ride lower like you but that is still some times away.

Problem is finding a black on black y33 with less than 80000 miles on it and selling the car. If there were buyers beating down the door. It would make things possible but honestly I couldn't and wouldnt sell it with the paint that's on the car now.

The size of the door measures out. Might have to get rid of the ash tray. Some fiber glass and a nice dip is how I vision it.  If not it will work some way some how.

nice... same guy I bought my tail lights and headlights from.   For the price it's actually pretty cheap.    Just don't be shocked by the way they package.   Got my headlights in 2 produce boxes taped together...minor damage luckily since he wrapped the lights in bubble wrap.

I have an extra set of tails customize up - waiting - i just needed the insert - so ill most likely experiment with the the extra set 

kouki the door is off the sc430 - its motorized - im going to get it fabbed into my dash so that when you start the car the door comes open. - im having all my woodgrain dipped so after its measured and fabbed - it should be seemless

I'm pretty much stuck until my wheels are done to see any progress towards the build. I'm just getting everything ready to go so when the wheels come there should not be any delay

my diffuser is ordered and in route as well

the outers do but the inner trunk lid part does not UNLESS you cut out the holes for the lamps to fit.   The finish panel fits though.   Also you need to wire up the trunk for the lights to work and tap in to the reverse lights for reverse.

What areyou doing with your old coils? Anything wrong with them?

one of the fronts needs the inner strut replaced - the top nut was stripped and as a temp fix I had it welded on - its not blown or anything and the actual struts have less than 30k on them - im not too mechanically inclined to diagnos it but that's about it - someone has dibs on them for a very cheap price but he has been kind of incognito so PM me if you would be interested - i'll drop you the price

I tapped into a friend from high school that works for Mercedes and they had a s63 that came in totaled and got me a cool price.   The timing was right so I hopped on it. It was still a grip. $$$$$$$.

I think the kbreak kit is boxed and with a subtle  diffuser and dual quad. It will compliment the shape over all. The shape of the exhaust caters to a split ls460 so it will carry the theme for the fog lights. Refined lines. Boss stance on the rear and more of a stretch and poke look on a shorter strut. I think it will be win all around. I was going to do a reiger s5 difusser and 996 tips but I really couldn't grasp the flow. It sounded good but I never was compelled enough to pull the trigger. It's still a great idea if someone uses it.  Esetuning would be the cheapest in sourcing reiger and super tweaks for Porsche tips. ok here is a little update of whats expected to come - wheels are in for powder - parts are on order

the rear shot is some what out of proportion - the  vents are actually smaller than they appear and the rear will  be a hybrid of the ML and the S series AMG bumper - I will do another one tonight - I will break the bumper down into 3 sections making everything in proportion

i'm assuming these are the pics you sent me yesterday. i couldn't open them.

i gotta admit  the rendering looks pretty good, but we've seen this done and it doesn't really come out like this. not sure that it's the limitations of whoever is doing the work or other limitations that you can't account for in photoshop.

changes i would make:
eliminate red in the grill/vents
black lips
carbon fiber/vinyl

other than that i'm interested to see it go from rendering to reality. this will never be my style but it is the style so i can dig it. urethane bumpers will be a huge plus.

Im digging it. I'd only get rid of the red grill, maybe do it black instead.  Looks dope though, very sporty look for a lux sedan.

pretty sure, he couldn't photoshop the red out and have it look correctly, but i really like the side and the front. Rear, I'd have to get used to it.

We had the rear figured out and the front needed to have that same flair and style.  The skirts were just an obvious choice.  So do I like it?  Well..of course.  Haha..

whats the price on something like this worth .. the front and rear bumpers? and how close are they to factory q45/cima fitment? seen the merc with these bumpers today and they are so steller on these cars

Depends. Oem on the ml with all inserts were like 1600 for the rear. The tips were 800. Front bumper and inserts about 1500 - side skirts I have not found them for less than 800 but I'll likely be able to use eclass which I haven't priced yet. Prolly 4700 in parts - body work is tbd.  Molded on my 2500 dollar kbreak kit. Sounds crazy when I type all out like that.  I've yet to price the s63 rear bumper. So there is some misc cost as well.

don't use the k-break kit, sell it and use oem y33 bumpers. plastic to plastic > plastic to fiberglass. not only that, but you can recoupe some change.

The diffuser flows pretty flawlessly with the trunk line. I was gonna do my tails outlined like that if I ever get around to it

its coming - everything is sold now - fenders - kit - exhaust - and fog lights - bumpers soon to be on order - im now working through final touches

Instead of LEDs in that pattern have you thought of fiber optics? Kinda like the e60 bimmers. I dont know how feasible that would be but it looks like it would allow for more of the shape youre looking for..?

I have all other bumpers with the exception of one front bumper.  I have been floating photo shops on instagram but when it comes down to it, a lot can look good on photo shop but if it does not measure our reality - its pretty hard to pursue - so i'm fine tuning some details but i should  be able to purchase the front bumper this weekend and project 6.0 will be well on its way

I'm using this one too and I'm just wondering if you have the setting correct for the sensors you are using because in the other thread the pressure you say your are running seems alot higher than I think it should be...or it's possible maybe my settings are off.    How high does your tank pressure get up too?  Mine is a 4gal and it gets up to 200psi and shuts off but ends up being like 192-196psi on my guage.   Using dual 480C Viair compressors

yeah im using the same but you have to remember - my bags rest on laser cut mounts all the way at the end of the sleeve and im guessing that your bags are  resting on the strut mount and or you are using a bracket??? im at 90 in the front and 70 in the rear - I will be at 100-110 all around - there is really no difference in lift from about 100-120

You are correct. 10-15  mm more the bag would wobble because at full inflate it would not be touching the top.

I've received some inquiries in regards to parts and not just from BLKVIP.  There seems to be a misconception in regards to going molded or custom utilizing FRP and or Plastic OEM bumpers.  It's not cheap well at least it was not for me and I pretty much looked everywhere to source parts at vendor cost.  I'm not bragging but there are a lot of things to consider.  "I don't feel like dumping 4k on a kit when I use my car every day, one hit to the bumper and it's done" I dont wish to point anyone out but I just want to inform people that it will cost about the same if not more.

In my case
im already close to 4k on parts and labor is still unknown

so even in the best case scenario you will still spend that 4K if not more - in my case if I did not go rep i would have been like 10K in parts even with vendor cost.  It's not cheap and there is no escaping the known and unknown cost to make it work. 

back on topic - lights showed up so now i can start my S550 Styled retrofit. thanks blitz

I like the approach here... Making it up from scratch... Cutting it up and hope it works out... There is no gains without hardwork and taking the risk... This marks for an epic build...

I can attest to the bumper thing. I have very close to the same money as a kit would have cost in my front and rear bumpers alone. The body shop said they would charge $2000 per bumper next time.
It ain't cheap but noone else has'em.

There is a beam that runs across middle center of the difusser. Cut center align top and bottom.

so you're gpoing to set the light behind the bumper and cover the outer edges to get the right angle? i notice the ends angle moutward on the light but inward on the chop.

i was just wondering how you were going to change the outer angles. setting it behind the bumper works i suppose.

og is asking how you are going to contour the left and right edges to match the curvature of the diffuser.

Not going to have to.  It's going to be recessed behind the diffuser. It measures slightly longer so if I have to blacken the edges that's all that will be needed.

You should follow the line of the Black bison insert down the side skirt to the bottom of the door, like the Panamera. Can't wait to see this start taking shape.

I've been debating on what route to go on mine, I was considering cutting out another G50s inners and making them higher and further forward so the look remains Oem.

i was lookin at that too. looks like they just hammered that shit out.

buy or go to junk yard, and find rear inner quarter panel tubs. they are round, and look oem. We do it on spec race cars to keep oem appearance rather than using trailer fenders

just do it like a mini tub. cut out the original wheel well, reposition it, and fill the gap with a strip of metal.

Yea, that is what I was thinking, but instead of using a strip of metal use a piece of another oem well to make up the difference.

Using crystal clear covers with red w/ clear on the center liht and the housing will be custom molded to accommodate the LED and acrylic.

outer tie rods arrived - replacing lower ball joints and then the suspension is set - contemplating a cup setup - its pretty much a go! final rendering with all parts that I have on hand - looks promising  - ready for paint in oct!!!!! yeah - i have a few other exterior accents that will take things even further

the car should be done by the end of the month - that's over 70MM body pull you see there

Status - had to go a inch wider in the rear. After the car was aligned I was getting -6.8 front and - 7.5 rear.  I purchased extended outer tie rod ends so now I should be able to match camber all around.  I switched up the rear bumper and I switched up the exhaust tips - I purchased 370Z LED diffuser light.  I am using all oem mesh (vice chicken wire) w212 amg center mesh to give it that wide mouth - w221 amg outer mesh with w221 sport DRLS - should give the bumper a more finished look

W221 AMG sport DRLs - 550 Shipped (at cost)
W221 Outer Mesh - 175 Shipped (at cost)
W212 AMG center Mesh 200 Shipped (at cost)

headlight retrofit in the making - hyper crystal clear lenses on USDM ZENKI headlights - processed in the US - for more info holla at me - cls 550 projectors and I will do acrylic style DRL's that will act as blinker and DRL european style - long time coming mine as well elevate the game a little further

Ha ha. I'm in Japan now on vacation not worried about anything else but having a good time. I return tomorrow. New wheels should be in buy the end of the month and I have a no shit drop dead date of 15 July or things will escalate. So surely a update will come one way or another. And more than likely I'm buying another car this week Plans are in the making for that as well so yes updates are coming.

Interesting choice in wheel design who's making them??? ...can't wait to see the finished product much props!

When u have been around as long as I have u start to get the feel that off the shelf is just not enough. I had the opportunity to create my own wheel and that's what I came up with. All brushed black finish offset should be around 19x10.5 -30 19x12 -60. Hidden hardware.

I never reply here but daaang, that face. I want to head this direction now on wheels; as in true custom. 
That design looks sweet and hope it looks just as nice put together and mounted. 
Again hoping there is some sort of interest or like button here, that way all these nice builders know we're awaiting on these sweet updates. 
cuz alot have forgotten all together., or moved to korny insta.
