Y33 Brake upgrade options

Y34s had this thread so figured Y33s should too.

What are options for OEM upgrades when it comes to the Y33?

I have a guy selling a set of GTST Type Ms, calipers, E brake everything I need. This is a direct swap right?

z32 calipers are direct bolt on. same for the y34 too. so i'd imagine what works with a y34 will work on a y33 too

FGY33s use 14mm bolt holes to mount calipers in the front. Z32, R32 almost everything else is 12mm. Brake lines I think are also different on those calipers. You have to use conversion lines or have them made.

I guess you could machine the caliper hole and make it larger for the 14mm bolt. To be honest, I just replaced rotors, pads, added SPL tension rods and for a 2 ton car it stops on a dime with stock parts.

I wish coilover company's gave you the option to run 12mm or 14mm bolt holes like in japan. so you could choose what caliper you will mount. 12mm you could just run the S-chassis adapter and run brembo evo/sti/350z/ calipers.

ahhh no wonder my megan coilover caliper mounting holes were too small. I had to open it up 2mm. Paid a machine shop to do it and costed $40. My bolt is a 22mm head with a 14mm shoulder.

I have a set of Futura Brakes made for the R32 Skyine which I guess are similar to the Z32 brakes therefore I figure it fits the Y33. I test fitted the front and it's near spot on. I just need new rims to fit them now.

BTW to make things easier it might be better to get 6pot/4pot rather than the 8pot/6pot that I got going on.

Your using the new megans w/ spindles and they came with 12mm bolt holes?? Interesting. I wonder why they are doing 12mm when all US Y33s are 14mm. Those futuras look great BTW

He did and so did I, not direct bolt on. The mounting hole difference noted above is factual. Now for me it was easy because I used y32 coilovers which stately have the smaller mounting holes. But not with y32 and s chassie suspensions all the 240sx upgrades are identical.
