Help taking apart maya wheels

I recently bought 2 new maya wheels off eBay hoping to use the barrels to replace my bend ones on my current setup. I have already unscrewed all 40 bolts but the face won't come out. I've tried bamming it and still nothing. Please any suggestion would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Are the faces welded to the barrel?

I had mayas that had welded barrels but the faces came out. It may depend on what you have. Look at the backside of your wheels and you can clearly see if it's welded or not.

From what I can see it doesn't look like its welded here's some pics

I had some 20" mayas that I took apart. The inner and outer lips are welded together, but the faces come out. You will need to go to lowes/home depot and get some 2x4 wood and a rubber mallet. Then just tap the face out. You might have to bang on it a little, I had to for my maya and ssr wheels.

lay it face down and smack it with a 2x4. worked good for me on all 3 sets of my wheels

wrd. it takes quite a bit of effort to get the faces out.

another option is to apply heat to the barrel -maybe with the blow torch- to get the metal to expand so the faces with come out. You can do the same when putting the faces back in.

be sure to put something soft n the floor before you whack it out.

it's probably because of the black powder coating or paint that is making the tolerance so tight.   just be careful when banging it out it doesn't just drop and scratch up the lip.  maybe put some painters tape all over ther lip or something might help risk of scratching.   I would use a brass hammer or something metal and lightly bang the edge of the face all the way around several times.

^ exactly what I was going to say. Looks like the painted the flange then torqued them down, the paint acts like an adhesive.

Go outside on a nice day, leave em in the hot sun on a blanket in the grass for an hour or two, then go back and use a rubber mallet to knock it out.

this really goes to show the super quality and tight tolerances of these japanese wheels.

the welded barrels maybe a pita to piece out, but it ensures no leaks. Just about every 3 piece wheel I have owned with a silicon seal has had a leak. A slow leak  but still a leak.

LOL I remember those Maya's on eBay. Those were a good deal! Majority of Riverside wheels the barrels are welded together and the spokes should come right out, but as mentioned by others it does take quite some force. I can't remember if there was silicone sandwiched between the spoke and barrel to prevent air leaks, but I think that was the reason why my old ones were really hard to separate.

These maya-trafficstar-riverside wheels are real quality wheels.

the quality and craftsmanship of japanese made wheels totally outshine those made here in the States.

Sorry for the late update everyone. I left them sitting in the sun all day to heat up and after many forceful bangs with the 2x4 and rubber mellet they pop right out. Thanks again for all the helpful tips everyone.
