y33 front conversion w/ RHD

i met a guy at a show this weekend that has y33 cima black headlights, grille, power folding mirrors, and the RHD conversion with wheel and dash in black.  if anyone is serious about doing this conversion hit me up.  i have all his info to reach him.

Because pulling up to a stoplight sitting in the passenger seat with no driver is the ultimate in 'thats right... stop and stare'  Isnt that why we build these things anyway.  They arent for performance thats for sure.

And the conversion is not that hard, pretty much all bolt on.  At least it was in VW's.  I cant imagine the japanese making something more complicated than a german automobile.

thats true, but dont you have to chop the whole entire firewall and reweld the other one on?? not sure how it works

I know on american VW models they just used a RHD firewall with the cut outs mirrored over and plates bolted in to the RHD holes.  I have never taken the dash out of a y33 but that seams to be the economical way for a car company to do it.  Took a couple guys a weekend to do the full swap.

i did back in the days like 8 hondas rhd they came out pretty good but now againg its a honda !

for the RHD the firewall has to be replaced and welded in.  motor should be pulled.  so i would only recommend this for somebody is already pulling the motor for either replacement or full paint job.

You need to get the JDM exhaust headers, power steering setup and rack and pinion off a RHD Y33 Cima to do it. I only know this cause looking into IMPUL Headers back in the day, they won't work on US models because all that stuff is on the other side, so you'd need mirrored copies of the headers.  Then I discovered that Y33's have pretty nice headers stock anyhow.

idk for sure, the guy said he has everything for the swap.  hes military and was in japan for a long time.  bought these parts so he can do it to a Q when he got back.  but now just wants to sell the stuff.  said it would be his 3rd RHD swap so i assumed he knew what was up.

if done cleanly it would be a true show stopper. but i have no intrest in cutting up my car!

i would love to do it to ours, but its just not worth it right now.  theres a lot involved in going RHD.  now if I was just starting a project, or repainting our car then id probably jump on it

So yes I know this is a super old thread, bringing it back to life, etc I got it...anyways any updates?? This idea has crossed my mind the last couple of nights and I need closure haha.
And by chance a super long shot I got cash in hand ready to talk if this is floating amongst this forum.

i know on honda's you basically pull the firewall off and match up all the spot welds. if it's off even by a little, you'll have alignment issues, and you need all the interior panels as well door cards, kick panels, dash, and a lot of misc stupid stuff you would never think of touching otherwise.

haha I'm a Honda head so I know the gist of rhd conversions being involved in a couple but obviously this is a lot more work then a Honda and by no means does that validate me as an expert I get that.
But working at a body shop is definitely a plus and since respray and interior change over is my cars immediate future why not dabble in the thought of going all out for a RHD conversion. My issue, well my first area of concern, would be how would I source out all the parts needed to make this happen. That's why when this thread presented itself to me I was curious to see if anyone attempted this or what happened to this front clip?
