Dude, honestly i forgot my offsets ill have to hunt down where i wrote them down. as for lip sizes the fronts are a 5" and rears are a 6" but im in the single digit negatives

I'm assuming cause the 97-98 have painted metal roofs, which I prefer honestly. I heard that metal roofs actually cost more to make cause they have to be careful when they cut it out since it gets re-used.

there chill for what they are with a 1 year warranty.  just have to go through the effort of welding the coilover to the stock knuckle. other than that they ride fine and are worth it. but why not hop on those pbm coils for 400 more i believe and are nicer.

Thanks man, your the reason i chose 18's.  And i think its just us. The 13 is cool but its geting shrunk to a 12 so i can ride slammed the inner barel is rubbing when i ride low

I got a flat 3 miles from the event so i parked in the opposite lot until i busted a mission to goodyear to get my tire re mounted.

I know what ya mean about them 13's. My 12's hit in the insides, and fit right to the backside of the 1/4 panels. 
My 12's fit perfect, besides the inners hitting on heavy loads. When I seen you on 13 I was like :eek2:

hey is that a full size donut?    I need to check mine and see whats back there.   I thought it was suppose to another 5th stock wheel.   I know my F50 from before had exact same stock wheel as a spare.

Nothing to new with the car, got my roof finished so i have the wood vinyl on the sunroof. I still have a mysterious leak from my front right wheel. but soon im going to start work on my lower bash bars for when lowness happens

I like it too but to be a moving force in the show scene i need a kit. I have a jds kit that is supposedly the only one in the us, so thats helpful.  But we will see, with this kit and my 18's my car can sit on the ground but im still not convinced in changing it yet.  Thanks for the love. I to love the color of my car.  Im actually painting the roof and getting some pin striping done in the future.

Wasn't there a black Y33 with the JDS kit? Thought it was in the Platinum crew. On 22's no less. Not that it matters. It is top 3 kits for the Y33 in my book. And, I think it would look amazing on your color car.

color looks dope under that light.   Like a coppertone.

So, the build has taken its major turn. Kit is going to go on. With proper settings ill be able to have my kit sit on the ground.  I started working on my exhaust as well.  You guys will like it i think. Only hint i can give though its a side exit. Also getting my wheels refinished and new barrels to have a 18x12 -27 ish to be able to ride slammed and get my camber on. And i sent out my front top hats to have custom ones made of steel with elongated holes for the most camber i can get. so we will see how 2012 turns out. I wont have enough money to get the car repainted so it will just be the kit for now.

Well if you want a set i can get them made. mine are megan specs. And dude i always ride slammed when i can. But the rears were to big to roll slammed so that problem will be solved.  I think i need to post a picture of how used being low i am.

Hit 110k today just got her washed and a oil change before the tear down..  Im leaving actually right now to vipmodular  to drop my wheels off for some new additions. then time to pull that stock kit off.  Is there a diagram for the rear bumper somewhere?

Yeah 6" outer 7" inner but i got them rebarreled to a 6" inner so now they are 12s

So i installed some led bulbs on the rear of the q and led running/turnsignals up front.  A company i use for hids now makes leds really affordable. I just installed the brake lights and reverse lights so far, i opted not dealing with the flasher due to having to buy the resistor and its pointless. i just wanted to see the quality first.  They are nice pieces and look like they will last quite some time.  But man, led bulbs look way better as well as the reverse lights. check em out super affordable. ddmtuning.com

Got my chrome a-pillars today!

sweet!!!  good taste...   some of my friends make fun of it on my car but I think it looks classy.  (only on VIP platform or styled cars and not on 300C and magnums and such).   On Y33s there is alot of stainless/chrome trim around the windows so it matches well even the door mouldings.

ill need to change the tips for my kit though these are just too big.

So platinum vip ended up gluing on the add on pieces to the door of my black q im taking the jds kit off of. So i modded my jds kit to work with the stock door filler pieces. Had to take the now high parts off the kit down about a inch and then form them to the body because of the change of angle cutting the skirts.  Then tomorrow were cutting it for my side exit on the driver side.  Custom shit is cooler in my book anyway.  I love how the skirts look without those ugly ass door pieces anyway.

These are beater tips till the kit is on and finished. My exhaust with the cut out side skirt will be only a quarter of a inch lower than my kit.

So picked up 225/40/18s, modded the camber plates about 2degrees more camber to make up for the loss of stretch. Back in it.  Hopefully i have no more tires unbead on me.

little update. I moded my front camber plates to achieve about 2 degrees more negative.  In doing so i had to raise the spacer that the tophat sits on 2mm to clear the bag top with the added angle. Yeahh, side relocation has been a popular thing in japan for the past few years and i'm interested to see what people start coming up with considering that they'd have to do body work to hide the exhaust cutouts in the rear and add one to the side. 

You should definitely do it though, pancakes! 2012 is bringing alot of change for everyone!

IMO, it wouldve look cleaner with different tips.

kit looks so awesome on there, but imo, the exhaust looks a bit puny or understated from that angle.. any straight side pics?

I think you could get away with that size but angled back and slant cut to make it flush with the side of the car.   Maybe even make it a triple tip.   Either way good job...

i think a wide oval tip would look more fitting than circular tips. i'm digging it, but i feel like it's only at 65% of the awesome it could be.

Full pics look good! and fellahs Austin has the skill to switch shit up on the fly so I'm sure this idea and others he has up his sleeve is far from done.

yea, this was suggest to Austin before he did this. I love this look of it coming through the sideskirt like this. The only trick would be making it so it's not hitting everything (ground clearance)

Like pancakes said, im not even close to being happy with it. This was the only piping we had at the shop so we made it work for now.  Im doing two tip welded into eachother so one will be cut down the side like a .5 inch the the other welded to it. then they will come out at a slight angle be cut to match the kit with that nice point, and DONE.

So on monday im getting the q pinstriped by a guy who mainly does lowriders. Which is the style im going for. going to do my hood, trunk, rear pillars, and sides. Should come out cool i hope. also i might have a buyer for my rims. if so this will be the next set.

Finally getting my front end dialed in. Just ordered new tie rod ends, ball joints, and energy suspension lca bushings. As well as all of my hids for my fogs and headlights.

Whats up guys, been absent for awhile. Time for updates/future plans rant.  So the car has been put on the backburner after i sold my wheels. Ive cracked a sideskirt and my front bumper, also my pinstriping started to flake so i have to get that redone as well.  Other then that the car has remained the same.  BUT, i have installed my fog lights and my hid headlights finally after lagging it for a month and a half.  Also my LCAs are out at Garage Life getting boxed and extended, as well as getting new balljoints and new bushings. As for the front i also got new tension rods and new tie rod ends so my front end will essentially feel pretty new again.  As far as wheels im doing a 19x10.5 19x11.5 work emitz. They have been ordered and the down payment has been made. I want my car at either -10 camber all around or -10 -12 stagger, depending on how much the rear pokes.  My car will sit like the cars in japan to a T. Also i will be moving from my accuair to manual switches, so if anyone wants to scoop that up lmk.

So, after tesfit, my fronts fit perfectly, rear a different story. I will need to add some more camber or get the pad height shaved off 3mm. With both nuts taken out of the camber arm it still wasn't enough for me.

Yeah s14. I am extending my lcas so i need the extra length adjustments. Also my stock ones were shot, so why not grab a fresh set.

I'm not usually one for black wheels (with a couple exceptions), but i think the wheels and grill tie together well because of the fins and if thhey were the same color  i think it would look on point.

I think it's the lug nuts.  probably needs short open end acorn lugs for the cap dish to clear so the cap sits flush.   I've had that problem before with my Racing Hart Type C/C2/C5 SSR GP-O and Evolution back in the days.   Once the caps are on the gold script of the emitz should look good with the pinstriping and rear gold emblems.   Grill looks better than the stock.  That's a kouki grand touring right?   I actually like the 99-01 US grill also which are partially body color painted.    The look is different but is coming along nicely.

What up guys, how have you all been.  Sorry for my absence in the scene lol been busy moving and starting school. But as far as the q45 goes not much has changed, i still dont even have my centercaps back from the chromer yet. But as wear and tear shows, ive already hit 7k miles on the emitz had 2 alignments, my rear passenger door broke, my roof is peeling, and i lost a foglight on the freeway due to debris. So to me my car is not show worthy at the moment but will be up to par soon for its upcoming photoshoot. Here is a list of the following mods for the rest of the year i plan on doing.

-rear diffuser
-Fender work (just a pull)
-Projector foglight retrofit
-Flag pole mount
-New exhaust
-Hood mascot
-Possible repaint
-refinish centers of my emitz
-Scrape blocks

Thank you for the compliments, but you did not have permission to crop the watermark out of one of the images and you did not credit the right person. So it would be a good idea to ask in the future. Also nobody on ebay knows what a vipstylecars username is. It is like that show American pickers. They go to these places were obviously there is no interest in the things they collect. If there was, it would be neatly displayed. And as soon as their is someone wanting to buy it, they want too much money for it, and it was just sitting around a yard for decades. 

Since they used the pics on their dealership to promo your car, they should give you something for it. Obviously there is value in it, it is why they used it. It was your creation, that was displayed neatly, not some rust bucket.

^ or a totally OEM Q... which visors don't really do a whole tonne for aesthetically. (little different when the car has the whole look to go along with the visors)

There was a company that used my pic that i took of my s14 with their intercooler for an ebay add. I am not sure if it still around but i got hooked up cause that pic moved a lot of them. since there was no vmount intercooler at the time. and it was for a buick regal lol

i'm usually pretty open to non-sense, especially when it's a build i already like, but this one is a complete miss. the funny thing is the last time i saw someone do this rack it was an s2k on emitz. i remember when i was rolling on the 40s i started to head down the same path (wanted to do juice, striping, engraving, etc.). i think rolling these style wheels just makes you go left a little bit.

The "vs's" is cause people like me, in my mind want to do bags.. and still think about it a lot.. but for how low i want to drive means it would be that much more difficult to dial in the stiffness of the car with out bottoming out. Along with trying to keep it on the cheaper side when coils are cheaper than most bag setups and you dont need any fancy gauges or switches that mess up the look of your interior. Other wise you are getting out all the time to see if all your wheel gap is the same. For me i would rather go cups so i can have dial in all day and worry about getting over stuff by using a single switch, and lower it back down to where it needs to be. I just find that it would be difficult. either the bags will be to stiff and not rebound with shocks, or it will be to soft and bottom out all the time.

edit: i am sure a lot of people will say i am wrong etc.. which I am sure i am. Bags work great on a lot of applications. I would totally run bags on my car if I was going for a different look. like full tucked out and ever so slight tuck while driving.

I don't immediately hate the rack.... but now in my mind the level of expectation to pull off something so unusual just shot up.

Im always going as far left as possible i just like building shit to weird extremes. Like a champagne 350z, wtf was i thinking, but that came out harder than i thought. and who knows after i get the kit on i might hate the rack but with my other ideas i have it could make or break it.

My personal reason. i miss being static, theres something about my car throwing sparks on the freeway and breaking road reflectors i love. But i went air to protect my rare kit, now that the kit is getting switched for a shorter one i can drive my car static without ruining my bumpers. Plus i needed the money.

What up guys thought id update you a bit on my build.  Its essentially a lowrider/vip hybrid type build. Idk i wanted a lowrider but didn't want to rid the q yet so heres round 2.  I am planning a paint change too a two tone white/champagne. as homage to my z im getting the champagne the same color.

*Parts ordered/ on order
-S13 spindles
-S13 Lca's
-S13 tie rod ends
-S13 Lower mount for front coils
-Cima hood mascot
-Front window visor (like a lowrider)

*Parts on car as of late
-Rear trunk rack
-Jdm front bumper with gt lip
-Static for those that dont know (still deciding on my spring setup)
-New exhaust after thursday

Also looking for a possible brake upgrade as well as putting in quick release mooneyes setup. Also being on coils is fun as shit in the q. these things get sideways.

i think you'll be able to create a clean car if you don't try to hard. it's one thing to take inspiration from another style, it's another thing to try and replicate a style past the point of what looks good. good luck with phase 2!

My main main goal is cleanliness. i love how they style y32's out in japan rather the crazy kitted y33's they are so clean and simple. im shooting for that well rounded look and with the mascot and gt bumper it will pull it off i hope. plus after paint if i dont like the rack or the visor both are removable.

Haha trust me ive been realizing that now. I still have my emitz they are just sitting in the garage with bald tires, but the faces still need to be refinished to be "up too par" in my eyes.  Cause its these or another set of vip modulars.

i wasn't referring to any particular mod, just be careful. sometimes i go through the same process where one little thing makes me want to go left, then after hours/days/weeks of planning i step back and am like hell nah. for example, when i was rocking carving head 40s on the ucf10 i found some n.o.s. spinner caps on yaj. that inspired a build plan similar to what you're talking about. i wanted to do the lowrider style pinstripes, juice it, engraving, chrome undercarriage, etc.

i'm with you on the y32s. imo, out of every platform/generation as a whole y32 owners seem to have the best taste.

stick with  the emitz.

I have a full 240 suspension swap in the works with modified knuckles i will be able to get whatever i want in the front but probably -8 or -9 is where i want the front to sit.

Might have it matching but at most it will be 1-2 degrees difference depending how big of lips im gonna rock on my next set of the wheels.

P.s the car will only stay in this "lowrider state" probably for 4 months, then i will be redoing the cars style again. But so far a 3 piece wing, full interior custom woodwork, BBK and new wheels are in the plans for next year already.

Just the RHD lol. Been debating it but since i would be doing the work myself, that is a task i would not take on.

I'm pretty sure they do have a bar but not as thick.  There has to be something to distribute the crash forces evenly across both sides and the bar connects both parallel beams.   US DOT has a 5mph bumper rule thingy therefore big ass bumeprs.

Been busy with finals but here is a little update on my car. I got my new suspension on with about -7 degrees up front for now. Im running a 16k 12k springs on the megan coils. Need to get the rear lower after some fine tuning and will be getting sanded wednesday and paint to follow. will be ready for new years.

To me it looks like his were mounted too far up the fender. They should be more level. With the other shit i got planned it should look alright.

Not too fond of the fender mirrors, don't really work with the lines of the Q IMO.

I'd like to see a side shot if you don't mind possibly with the regular mirror photo-chopped off to get a better perspective. If you are planning on leaving the factory mirrors on along with the fender mirrors then I'm going to have to say no to having either of the fender mirrors on, this is just my humble opinion though, regardless of that your car looks good.

it's a hand hold from the subway. it used to be like "hey i'm a badass i stole this" but they sell them in shops now.

OK. So there is a story behind it. This has got me thinking about jacking a two person bench seat from the metro and rocking it in the back of my car U.S.D.M. style!

The mesh grille is on the Mad Max side for me, but the parking pole, fender mirror, and Emitz work nicely together for a period look.

So i received my car back from paint after it was along waited in its primer stage.  They made some mistakes like the champagne line not lining up and a few things that needed to be addressed so as of right now its back in the paint booth. These were some quick shots my buddy took the day i got it back from paint.The car is missing the fender mirrors the hood mascot the chrome trim amongst other things.
