VIPd build on a Chrysler 300

Hey guys.. im a new member, but not to forums or cars lol. 
bmccann101 username over on my350z.com w 5500 post counts and alot of itrader etc.. 
I currently have a single turbo built engine widebody 350z with literally every part modified lol.. finally realized i neede a daily driver. 


(still have no clue how the forum is set up.. its not what im used to.. so Im putting my "BUILD THREAD" here.. mods, please feel free to move and let me know where I should have posted it so I get a better sense. :) )

Anyways, after scouring google images, the forum and so on.. doing some photoshop work etc.. I find that in my opinion, this Chrysler 300 is VERY PICKY about its mods. 
Seemingly inperceptible shifts can cause a HUGE difference in the end result look of these cars. 
Im of course going for the VIP look, and commong from a big import background, Im ready to pul it off very well Id say. Ill be going for a similar stance:

It seems that the drop and the wheel choice make a bigger difference on this car than any other Ive dealt with in the import world.. it was maddening to chose my wheels , and i finally did a few weeks ago... before i finalized the car deal even lol.

I have a left over set of Strut emblems from another car as well, so i will likely place them as front fender badges and one on the rear of the trunk. 



So anyways, Ive had the car about a week and Ive already started the process.. plz keep in mind I have the final result planed out pretty clearly, so and its only in week one of mods, so I am aware its not very VIPd yet lol.. its getting there. 

So heres the car as i bought it.. 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring v6. 
has some sort of lip kit on it, a C version bumper and headlights, an aftermarket grille and some weird LED taillights.

Im not gonna lie. thecar was ok.. but to be honest was pretty DONK. 

Luckily I already had parts on the way for it. :)

Wheels landed last Thursday...
The wheels look great in person, the concave is huge and deep.. very cool looking.. just needs moar lower. :) 
btw props to Ben @ Audiocityusa.com.. most wheel places Ive been to are shady as hell.. this transaction was super smooth, shipping was extremely fast, and as you can see..the wheels were not just faced w cardboard and shipped as they roll.. these were HEAVILY cared for.. very cool. Plus each one was wrapped individually as well as fully cardboarded.. not a scratch anywhere.

Threw down on some chrome mirror covers and handle covers as well as piano black pillar posts.. installed these on Friday.. most ppl dont understand vent shades lol.. but once the VIP treatment is done, it will all go together well i say:

All my Junction Produce swag is on its way, should be another week or so on shipping...Neck rolls, seat belt pads, knots and tassles, vip trays for the front and also a smaller tray for both rear doors, fr and rear window curtains, and the seat pillow set as well. ;)



Update as of this last Saturday was my stick on CF dash kit..looks nice as is, but when the VIP gear is overtop of it all, should look saweet..:

very reasonably priced too. 

May wrap the roof black and forgoe the roof wing.. or if i keep it white, ill surely cop one... needs a vip style trunk wing too. 

Car needs the JDM goodies and curtains installed///and some airbags to go moar lower and to lose these led taillights. and i think ill be firmly in VIPd land at that point...

Interesting combination of styles, drawing from stuff you did on the Z like the carbon fiber trim, and some Japanese inspired moves like the wheels and the whole vip theme.

Really good call on the piano black B-pillar overlays, but I have to be honest, those particular ventvisors break up the flow. AVS/Lund make a Seamless Ventvisor that is flush with the trim. Part #994002 if you're interested.

wow thank you, those are FAR nicer.. Ill have to look into those as the build finishes.. i wasnt aware there were any variations to the styles so i just bought these ones for very very cheap and called it a day.. i doubt they cost me for than 30 dollars to be honest. :) 
I didnt like how mine cut the white door trim up either.. im very particular about those things.. however this car is kind of my "beater" lol.

I have a love hate for a 300. I love to mod one, i hate that i dont have one lol

and tell me more about that shifter gate for the Z that is awesome!

i dunno man. i've loved these cars since they dropped (helped bag probably the first one ever, fresh off the pre-order list the day they were released) and there are a couple on this site that are dope (including the one you posted) but i think you need to slow down. leave the accesories for last. i can dig the wheel choice, but a lot of the other stuff is questionable. yeah, they fit the "vip guidelines" but they're kind of all over the place as far as a theme and tbh a lot of it looks cheap. get some suspension under that bad boy, do the major mods (bumpers, etc.), and in the mean time soak up some knowledge and develope your style. we won't even go into the knock off part debate again... or will we?

i hear ya.. 

ive spent quite literally 50 thousand in cash over the last 2 years into modding the Z, so this build in the end will look ncie, kind of cool sure.. but wont be an all out full on extravaganza in the least. i guess if anything it will show what a car can look like on a budget of 5-7k. 
By no means do i expect it to be a forum hit, or a show car.. just my daily driver w a VIP flair... 

my main focus is still the Z, but i simply cant drive ANYTHING stock. 

Ive rebuilt my z probably 3 times over the years.. and will surely do the same w this car... :)

as far as knock offs go.. i wont mention them if i do go that route.. ;) Ive picked up on this sites tolerance for that already lol.. and i support that for sure.. may or maynot fit my budget tho.. again, ill leave that for my accountant to know only then lol. :) 


So again, my main goal isnt to pimp this car to the max.. this car sits OUTSIDE my garage.. and the Z goes in there lol, it has all the authentic areos and odd/rare imported parts a man could ever want or need.... This Chrysler is the car that will get the miles, the possible traffic accidents, the wear and tear, the road trips, the bumper scrapes. Doesnt mean it has to look donk in the meantime tho fer sure. 350z should be done and dyno tuned in the next 2-3 weeks.. i doubt my neighbors would apprecaite me firing that up in the early AM to drive to the office, so my down time to have the Chrysler 300 out of commission will still be very slight. 

Its just purpose built to be done simply and quickly and enjoyed on my way to work. I certainly appreciate all these comments and suggestions for sure..

i've always wanted a lwb 300. z went from super humble to pretty damn dope. can't wait to see how the 300 progresses.

My HIDs sucked.. and were green blue.. wtf. 


And now one side kept shutting off. 


So i decided that not only did i have a ballast going out, but that these capacitor things are cutting serious voltage to the ballasts. Luckily, i had an extra set of far better ballasts already sitting down inthe fender wells of this car.. so i fired em up.. and i also got rid of the error flicker caps.. i used a bosch relay and made an adapter harness out of thier connectors.. therefore using the OEM headlight current as a trigger and jsut hard wired the HID ballasts in parallel to the battery post... 


wow. 


what a difference. 


And now the bulbs are driven to actually put out light and to be WHITE... just like me lol. 
Not thats there ANYTHIN wrong w that if youre not ;)

For 80 dollars in alterations ( fuh...) to make them short enough to fit these chopped windows.. my Junction Produce curtains are installed and MAN.. do they tie this car up so far.

I installed these piano black pillar covers on all areas included in the kit...they are pretty sweet tho i must add. also, are all of your JP accessories knock off? something just doesnt look right about them.

im sure some of them are not authentic.. i surely didnt pay an arm and a leg for them . Again, im not trying to p#ss on the VIP sport in the least bit.. but this car is my daily driver "beater" lol.. the real cash goes into my 350.. always has, always will. Im not buying JDM auth aeros for this car.... or anything that isnt a good deal really.. ive even held off on bags as i just dont want to ruin the cars driveability.. although it would look fantastic on  the ground.. i just cant have 2 cars that are a PITA to drive :) 

What parts are you selling? Im always curious, and i deal w parts over forums alot.... but im not in the market for high dollar stuff unfortunatley.

how u like those sub boxes? also my shine lip fitted decent as well, and the ebay window spoiler was a bitch to bend we pretty much have the same aero, cant wait for more updates

the boxes are pretty legit.. the install was pretty simple. they certainly do NOT just stay in place like the manufacturere suggest lol. They have to be bolted down. 

Yeah that rear roof wing was a beyatch to install. tons of alcohol to clean it all up and a heat gun, and it still deformed after a few weeks now and has small gaps where its unstretched itself at the corners.. for 100 bucks, what can i expect tho lol.

got off my @ss yesterday and did what I have been putting off for a LONG time.. installed my stereo in this thing finally. The amp rack was already built, but had to do the deck, speakers, and all the wiriing etc.. i hate doing this kind of work.. grr.. took me 8 hours w no breaks, but the install is perfectly clean, soldered joints, loom, clean zip ties and proper routing for induced noise rejection. A good install should be done once and last longer than he car does. 
I got creative on the dash kit and got it to sit flush mount perfectly, and when it motors out i was able to have it sit flush w the dash w maybe 1-2mm of space. perfect. 




The cool part was that i could just stick the amp in the spare tire well... right at the battery.

Not that its a huge amp, but the wires from the amp to the 2 farad capacitor under the amp rack are less than 6 inches long.. lol... and from the cap to the battery its not more than a 2 feet of wire, all 4 gauge.. 
so needless to say, there is NO VOLTAGE DROP at all lol. The power this thing delivers is incredible for the price... i really thought i was compromising w the level of gear i chose.. but im satisfied plus 100 lol. 


I went w SPR Alpine 6x9s and a pair of 8 ohm JL12W1s....thinking theyd at least do the trick for now.. certainly nothing to compare to my 350z.. all Alpine Imprint, Boston Acoustic, tons of power etc etc...

Holy Balls soup... this car sounds incredible. I have a set of Boston 3.5s on the way for the dash, will run them on a set of XTC 12 db HP crossovers at about 300hz... and will likely run an attenuator ( volume knob)  to kick them down a notch when running of the same channels as my front 6x9s. 


Likely will wire up a 2nd set of 6x9s to mount under the rear deck opposite of the stock location.. that way they are % and out of the way, but a simple relay circuit will allow them to play only when the trunk is open using the trunk light as a trigger..... ie, car show and parking lot whoring. 


Bottom line is that I know electronics and car stereos very well.. so this stuff is easy for me, and i rarely buy new... 


I bought the Alpine IVA on ebay " needing light repair" for 80 bucks lol.. flat rate repair is 95 bones.. so its fully refurbed now for 175 tci....bought the pair of subs nearly new from ebay also, 99 bux shipped for the pair.. even the 150 dollar POS wiring adapter this car needs was found nearly new on ebay for 20 bucks shipped from an install shop in CA...boxes, speakers and amp /cap are all new, [B]but in total, i have about 2600 dollars worth of gear and install, totally custom... for about 800 bucks. ;)[/B]

My point being is that this Chrysler was not my focal point of build interst, and interestingly enough, the sound components in the z cost me 5 times as much as the Chrysler, yet somehow the Chrysler actually sounds better lol. 

ANYWAYS... 


Anyways since i started building this car, Ive learned a lot about what bippu really is, and I must confess some initial replies in my post were right. 
it IS in fact all about tight clearances, authentic parts.. and the cleanest possible installation and execution of the parts possible. At best description, its about creating a jewel like perfection w the sedan... the opposite of a drifter w misaligned knock off aero parts and Hoo****n stickers and zip ties lol.
The knock off gear has gota go. Especially if i am planning to really build this car now. 
Aside from the fact that the Chrysler IS in fact a solid bippu platform car in the JDM.. Veilside Gimmic, Job Design, 7 Treasure..Liberty Walk... they all support the car 
 


So with this in mind, and with my Z finally being done for a few months.. Ive decided to go fairly all out on the Chrysler. 
I sold a 2nd set of wheels I had laying aorund.. and this was the deciding factor in going bags and going w good ones at that. 

I bought an accuair Elevel Rocker system and VU4 manifold.. a 4 gal alum tank and 2 444c Viair compressors.

over the last week, i canged the color on the headliner and all pillars and rear deck as well.. using black high quality synthetic suede. 
I also bought and instlaled a 300c verison gauge panel to have the chrome accents and the better info screen.

all of the exposed outside black rubber and trim was freshened up as well, and new chrome stainless for the window beltline was replaced. 

The engine bay is in the process of being fully cleaned and detailed as well.

I have a new SS chrome grille and bumper vent mesh kit as well, new fogs and wiring kits and a 149 db horn to be installed this week hopefully as well.. and a Codealarm autostart is going in tomorrow. Should be cool to have w the accuair set to ingition / auto up to ride height. 

I odered a new set of OEM 300c headlights to replace teh ebay wonders that had been on the car since purchase.. and sent for a set of PUTCO aluminum housing true DRLs.

So for now Im starting the trunk side of the airbags install and relocating my amp elsewhere this week. 
Once im back from Alaska vacation, Ill order up the UAS bags and billet bracklets from Zack at UAS and get the rest of the kit together. 

The car has a new set of KYB shocks as well as fully replaced suspension, including Eibach sway bars and completely new control arms buhsings and tie rod links for the entire car, front and rear. :)

The entire interior lighting has been replaced with the nicer 5k (true white) leds. 

Ive also puchased 2nd gen LED halos for the taillights.. the ones i have now are 1st gen and are nothing in comparison to the 2nd gen.. I have a 100mm and an 80mm, the smaller ring will be lit as my running lights, and the larger outside ring will then be the brake and turn light. 

Simple mod, but it just requries all the stuff out of my trunk first, so all this is all soon to come in July...all with pics to follow.

VIP300c brand front lip and mad eyebrows... Storm tech hood spoiler.. and a fully trimmed up and chrome panel covered engine bay complete w a Tidalwave supercharger should all be in place by the end of the summer before we get into the holiday season.

To answer your question I run diamond d7 amps, kappa perfect 10.1 woofer, eclipse dd navi with built in hd,  focal utopia be no.7 comps in my rl. I stand by my statement.. you're runing garbage in a v6 chrysler. Your  treefiddy is terrible too, so im not sure what you're trying to prove there.

Apparently no one locally has the fittings i need to get this stuff installed in a slim fit and attractive manner.. i figure the less reducer bushings and what not, the less chance for leaks.. so finding 90 degree elbos in the sizes I need has been a pain.. 
luckily I found some street elbows thru Bagriders.com and got them on the way.

Im the most concerned with how I am going to get the eLevel plugs into the spare tire well without opening the car up to the elements... 
as well as how I am going to isolate the compressors from the sheet metal for noise and vibration. 

I planned on using the EXO 2 Mount syste,m for the 444cs, but my tank is a hair too large in diameter.. I may opt for using viair mounting plates and using large metal hose clamps to install them on my tank in the same manner.. it wont look as pretty and regal as the EXO mount, but a little paint willsurely help. 

I plan to hide the system for now, but do plan on adding a plexi window soon after.. the show crowd seem to demand it, and as it stands form  a safety standpoint.. i cant access my battery or bags system or remove the trunk floor at all with how my subs are mounted, so adding plexi that can be popped out will be a snap.. its 25 bucks for the size i need in 1/2 inch, and the cutting and finishing for that is a no brainer weekend fun project... but first things first.

thx for the link.. not really a huge fan of the JOB design kit tho.. all the vents and mesh are kind of 1992 Honda looking to me. :( Especially for 1300 bucks.. there's barely any material to these kits.. how these JDM brand kit guys feel they can charge 1200 for a trunk lip spoiler for this car escapes me lol.. 
at least on the Z, the parts are large and intricate.. but a flat straight 300c side skirt that almost looks like a painted 2x4 should never be 700 a pair lol. 
Dunno.. Im waiting on  chosing any kit until the car is bagged and set up fully.. if it looks good w no kit, Ill leave it as such. Either way, it will need a front lip, but at this point im really leaning towards the VIP300c brand... certainly not cheap either, but im told the fit is flawless. 

Been on vacation for a few weeks, and there's plenty of parts delivered back at home, so i will have some more updates soon.

for the e level i used a plug in the spare it fits all sensors

^ yep.. thats the route i wound up taking.. sensors arent iunstalled yet, but i put a seam in my carpeting around the drivers side plug so we can pop it out from underneath when we get these bags in.. 

so aside from not having the bags UNDER the car installed, and aside from the cover piece w window for my trunk, the airbag system istelf is in and complete now.. whew. I just bought a handfull of Norgren 90 ptc elbows, so ill be snapping my lines in today ( from the VU4 to the bulkheads) but wiring and fittings wise shes all done. 
I went w a fairly smallwindow as well, 11x24, so only the edges of the tank and vu4 and compressors will show.. all the rest of the fascia pieces i built are there just for overall quality, none of it will really show thru the lexan, but i thot : why half @ss it" lol.

Also threw in my new steering wheel, however i dont like the ( sadly) useless silver thats showing becuase of the controls, and I will be taking the st wheel control switches out today and swapping the LX parts w carbon . Probably pulling out most of the carbon fiber stuff, not sure waht color or direction i want to go, so ill jstu wait until the new mods are done and then see waht will fit best.

Instead of doing new upholstery, i found a cherry perfect set of Heritage Edition seats ( SRT/Viper seats but Heritage uses perforated light gray leather) and those will be here in a week or so. Ill have to modify or ditch that red white and blue seat emblem tho.. eesh.. looks like a can of pepsi lol, retro design or not.. its got no place in this car lol.

I also have a friend who is going to diamond stitch a few yards of suede for me so i can do my door panel inserts, amr rest and dash covering as well. Black on black, no contrast stitching. 





Im getting ready to bring the car in for the UAS bags install as well as the double panaromic sunroof... 
but before it ships out, im trying to sneak in some dash speakers.. theyre really not necessary, but i figured crossing them over up high at 400hz and running an attenuator somewhere hidden like the glovebox would allow me to dial in some very light fill and bring the imaging up, hopefully not too harsh. (Visitor will HATE this lol, but hes blocked, so i wont ahve the pleasure of reading his reply lol)

I went with a set of Bostons.. XTC crossovers, and will just piggy back them off the front door channels. 
The home style volume knob has a very high power handling and is pretty well built.. should handle the power reductions well. 
Its now been painted black with the other interior items using SEM paint and prep.

David Lam at David Deezigns is doing an all out table build for me, including front table, rear door tables, rear center console and also a rear armrest hole bottle holder case. All will be custom lit with LED as well.

The deposit was made and those should be wrapped up in January after the holidays. 

I was also able to get Todd jubert at The Interior Shop to craft me a double stitch diamond sueded dash mat .. I go to pick that up today. 

Also picked up a set of AMG E55 paddle shifters for the steering wheel.. a pretty cool diy addition if i say so myself.. the module to allow plug n play will be in hand by christmas time.

k so almost done... a rear sensor was broken before they were moved to a better location w far less play.. sway bar mount.

Aside from that, new part is on the way and i should have it back very soon. This has been a bit of a saga. DOM tubing had to be cut and machined to replace the OEM bushing sleeves.. what a pitia.

we also had to move the shock body clip up to the higher of the two settings on the Bilsteins.. just a heads up for anyone else using the UAS bags.. if you dont use that setting, you can only lift the fender to about 29 inches w a very stiff fully aired bag.. movign it up allowed the proper height between the front and rear to be had and shared, full lift, and full drop.

fronts are going to need some serious spacers.. fender rolls soon enough, then ill get the wheels nice and flush w a razor edge lip, but for now, i want to learn how it behaves before i go putting my wheels right all up against the fenders lol

more stuff done to the car. 

retrofitted "Heritage Edition" seats into the car.. had to rewire abs sensors and wire in power seat in the passenger side.. as well create a way to control the OEM heathed leather seats, bypassing the auto memory can bus feature. 
The rear seats got aftermarket seat heaters installed by me.. and are also high leather content performated leather. U can see the difference w the old seat in the passenger side:

I had a neighbor ruin my front bumper in a drive by backing up bender, so my freshly painted front bumper will be ready tomorrow.. and i will be laying yellow film over my fogs then.... as well as installing the 3000k xb35 bulbs ive had sitting here form retrofitsource.com.

Looks good, a lot of "swag" accessories...are you getting any other kbreak product beside just having the stripe, modified kit, body etc..? JP or Veilside. New 300 Veilside looks appealing to me.

nope.. k-break doesnt make anything for my car at all to be honest.. i just think their graphics look the best, and the JP stuff is too simple.. 

I ordered up the side /door panel graphics as well, should be here in a few days. The "Complete by K break"  w  the stars etc. 


alright so ive been busy with my other cars build....l but i busted my front lip off in a tall puddle last month.. we had some bad storms and flash floods here in AZ.. 
getting ready for Hot Import Nights show this November.. so its been crunch time for both of my cars.

front table is just heldin place, legs arent glued up yet. 
They are bubble acrylic with white 6000k leds
bumper is in my trunk and getting dropped off for paint today... and i have Stainless steel 1/2 inch woven mesh to match my grill ready and cut.. 
just needs to go off to the polishers so its shiny like the grill. 
I also yanked all the ebay crap ive been struggling with over the years when the bumper was removed.. no more headlight nightmares. 

I used the Mopar harness, XB35 6000k 9006 bulbs.. the 3Five 35 watt ballasts and the LED DRLs as well.. not sure how ill mount those up just yet tho tbh.

i did order the same stainless steel mesh as is used in my grill to go in the bumper.. but this is the approximate outcome. The mesh material makes it less smiley looking .. either way the cars getting boosted this winter so i needed this bumper to let an intercooler breath properly. Is what it is.. and the bumper quality was extremely good.. glad to say. It was stupid spendy, so im happy it was made well to match the price.

some very amazing pictures are in the process fo being edited now.. hope to have them up by friday... this thing looks amazing in person.. the angle that its beveled forward is easily visible from the side.. its awesome.. like a train snow plow. :)
