Top Stitch Upholstery WOW...O_o Racially Insults Customer on FB

My friend got his seats done at this company and ended up having the leather rip at the seams due to poor quality leather and thick stitching;
1st off, my buddy got his seats done in the wrong stitching but shrugged it off, but 2nd and most important, this is what the company said after my friend posted the shotty workmanship on facebook after they refused to help him or sent him away because supposedly, their owner wasn't in.
3rd, the seats weren't even Nappa leather which is what he paid for.

Completely unprofessional and they also lied about my friend switching styles. As for being cheap, it was only over 100 dollars. He was spent $1100 instead of $1200. Now if I were to ever spend that much, the work better look better than factory. My friend just wanted to get the best deal he could for the seats and was upset with the workmanship. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.

Its not like this was the only car he's gotten done by them, he's had them work on his headliner, on the mini, and the interior on his Brabus Smart car too.

That response from the FB sucks...they look like they can do good work judging from the pics on their FB but from the pic the french seam even looks crooked.  Hope your buddy gets it ironed out.

^ coming from a shop owner...he knows how it goes. I have to agree with that as well, but shotty stitch is shotty stitch.  No 2 stories about that

dang, ive heard a lot of good things about Top Stitch, they appear to have done some top notch cars, and i've actually gotten a quote from them and was strongly considering. Won't be anymore; there are 2 sides to every story, but any company that represents them selves in that fashion on social networking site will not get my business. Even if your friend was the most annoying cheapest mother fucker on the planet, he shouldnt blast it like that. oh and shitty work is shitty work.
 
edit: reread the fb post.  outside of just being completely unprofessional and rude, he basically admits that if you dont pay him well he wont stand behind his work and will purposely do a shitty job.  also, are consumers expected to not shop around prior to making a large purchase?  Make your quality worth the price and you wont have to worry about that

or if you don't want to do it for cheap...dont take the job and send the customer somewhere else.  Your work speaks for itself and its worth.

the quality is a whole nother issue. if it wasn't up to par then it shouldn't have been accepted. when someone's goal is to put a shop on blast you have to question everything. how much of the story is true and what led up to that reaction. me personally; there's a line that once crossed it's no longer a professional issue, it becomes personal. judging by the tone of the post that line has obviously been crossed. then again, professionalism has been cited as one of my short comings so maybe my opinion isn't valid.

There's a few horror stories about Top Stitch,
A few interiors never being returned, a few customers getting mismatched stitching to where even the well known photographer John Zhang has photoshopped the interiors for the stitching to match :sad: (in photos)

That sucks for your friend, but why does the race card always have to be pulled/.

Shop owner is completely at fault regardless of the circumstances. You don't post shit like that. He accepted to do the work at the agreed price and should stand behind it.

Yea... that is about as dumb as racially insulting a customer.   While you may be passionate to stand up for a buddy, terroristic threats or being a wanna-be-thug behind the mic lowers you to his level.  

Let the internet make its round of the story, and be done with it.  Once a couple bigger forums catch it he will lose business and karma will have been served.  Making threats and being a tool does absolutely no good for the cause.

 I think I typed it unclearly...That was the owner..(The owner of top stitch)....that threatened my friend, the owner of the car...

I hate the saying " the customer is always right" but like OG said  2 sides to every story. Top stitch was around the corner when I lived in cali, Always saw good work being done, specially since you mainly see high end cars. As for the "owner" doing that Vmail im sure dude had a reason to call your friend, from a pro business point of view, not cool. They have there clients already I don't think a mini cooper and a voice mail will hurt his business. Hope everything gets resolved.

WOW! i had angry customers before but to make them stop and leave your business you dont talk crap on thier voicemail and call him names ! you provide your business service and when you do right , you can back your business's name up if the customers wrong !!! dang hope you get your problem solved it looks like the upholstery place dont want any business from anyone anymore !!!!

Sure there is two sides. Bad press moves faster than good. And as a business owner, you make sure its only good press going out, no matter how ass holey the customer can be or is.

But YOU DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT drop to the lowest low of professionalism for the sake of a deal gone sour.. ever. Even more so now there is social media.. the masses will burn your reputation faster than a pagan witch on a cross

Man this guy has let me down big time it's all true I have had my upholstery since last October
 it's about to be a year and nothing is done the biggest mistake I made is paying him in full $3950....

1: nappa leather is GARBAGE.
2: "stitching too thick"? Wtf are they talking about? Tex 210 is what factory uses. Its fairly thick, and thicker is fine if you have the seam allowance.
3: WHY would you trust a shop that claims they will give you leather, Alcantara (@100/yd) diamond stitching, and install for 1100? Thats underpriced by about.. 1200 dollars

Some people just want a cheap price, then when they get the product cry. Thats why always do your research on a product or company for that matter. It happens to all of us, all we can do is learn from it :/
