bumper with no exhaust????????????

ok, how do these guys run shaved rear bumpers that dont show their exhaust??? i know its easy to fill in the exhaust patterns on the bumper, but how does the exhaust work???

will that even be legal in to do here???

Use an exhaust tip that points downward. Shouldn't be a legal problem just as long as its still there.

The exhaust has to be pointing downward, as exhaust can get fairly hot. 
An acquaintance of mine was running an open exhaust. straight into the tarmac.
Tarmac melts.
If tarmac melts, so will plastic or anythink alike.

ls430's have exhausts aimed down.

Any pictures of this? Would love to see an example. I'm more of a visual person.

yes its all tuned down and most body kits in japan sell the filler with the kit.  You have to mold it back in but thats how its done

A few of the newer Mercs come like this too... Exhaust hidden in the bumper and the tips are pointing down at 45 degrees, ending right near where the bumper is

Correct. Almost all the luxury models are this way.  Only the AMG and sport models have a very visible exhaust.  My Benz is just as Dom stated.

theres a lot of cars that come with "hiden" exhausts. a lot of minivans do. and small cars like the prius. Just make sure that you don't have it goign straight down or else the gasses won't have velocity to make it out from under the bumper when at a stop and you could get exhaust gasses traped under your new aftermarket bumper that acts like the skirt of a hovercraft and the gasses could eventually seep into the car's cabin and bad things will happen.

Hi guys, my car (Sentra N16, almost same as Sentra B15 stateside) comes stock with the exhaust hidden. The original muffler comes pointing downwards. In it's original form without any kit, you can barely see the exhaust 3/4 hidden. But with a kit, it's fully hidden.

No cons here, haven't encountered any problem yet *touch wood*

ALOT of VIPcars have gone this route........ Over the yrs i see them in the magazines. I almost went this route on mine cause I havent found a nice dual tip exhaust I really like.

i think a bumper with no exhaust is pretty clean..i had a turndown welded b4 my rollpan on my truck so there was no cut for the tip.   only downside to doing this is the noise which might be a little raunchy imo.

i really like this look but i dont know where people are getting those tips...

how do they fit the tips so flush with the bumper and not mess stuff up? seems like the exhaust would bang into the bumper at least a little

also this might sound gay but if you like that look you could possibly just put some tips in your bumper and then just put turn downs on your actual exhaust

Stateside you can grab the tips off cars like this:

The exh is isloated from the tips so that any flex in the system isn't transferred to the tips. You can even do something as simple as have the exh piping dump into the tips' inlets, without attaching them directly to the tips

will it be look weird with the exhaust piping dump into the tip inlet when in the day light and the car behind can see the pipe is shaking all over...?

That explains why I can't see my exhaust from the rear...it's a nice and clean look. Too bad my Wald exhaust will be showing out of my rear bumper when I put it on this weekend...
