Project Slow-MO. My E66 Build
Towards the end of last year, i upgraded to an e66, long wheel base 745li. One owner, clean vehicle.

Wasnt planning to mod the car, but the itch came back at me.
First up. Bumper upgrades
Photoshop Concept:
Before

Merged to

Final Photoshop:
Feasibility done, now onto the purchase.
Purchased on: 12/30/2012
Received on: 1/20/2012
Test fit same day

Dropped the two bumpers to AR autobody in Lancaster CA on 1/21/2012
Progress pics on 1/28/2011
1/30/2012
Purchased bumper accessories from the dealership
1/31/2012
Stopped by for Test fit updates before plastic welding
2/3/2012
Goodies came in. LED DRLs
Progress 2/7/2012

Completed 2/9/2012
Pardon my bad phone pics:

Project is complete.
The pics dont do it justice so will wait to update with better pics.
The trim that is usually chrome on the original F02 mtech bumper was cast in carbon fiber. Units may go into production if the limited market is interested in it.
Will not be doing DRLS, they look cheezy and do not do justice to the new look.
I will be losing the plate.Time for some luxury abstract thing-a-ma-jiggies

How much would something like this cost to merge two bumpers together ? I've thought about doing this before on my car but wasn't sure what the price range would be.

Not a baller. When you have friends in the business, you know that they will give you a FAIR price for their honest work. I usually dont haggle too much with him because he takes care of me (my car) and vice versa.

I miss my E65....nice cars, but like you said, never seen one stanced before.
Might end up with a BK/BK E66 at some point, so I'll look forward to your progress!

Speaking of which, can you recommend a site you prefer for anything E65/E66? I have been lurking around BFest and such for a while scouring the boards for info on the platform but would like to widen my reach around other tech sections

I am on bimmerforums.com a lot, but never got much help in the E65/66 section. The E38 section is very busy though...but that's not much help to ya.
I noticed BF was a more popular board for the E65/66, and no one (including me) was really doing much with them, besides large wheels with nothing vip style or stanced that I found.
This was mine :
I had a bunch of plans to do to it, including dropping it on the Asanti's I had and eventually a full faced wheel, but sold it when we bought the new house, so I could do a lot of upgrades

Yes, big fan of the E66. Can't wait to see what you have in store for it.
As for inspiration, here's a local E66 that i see around my area.

You are right on that one. Tech opted to do a mock up off the car first for feasibility. Currently he is doing a lot more cutting, trimming and fitting to get it the way i want it to look.

I ran out of ideas on this one, so ill be using them as a placeholder. The original bumper had foglights. The new one does not. Whats a man to do?
I am open for suggestions on what foglights would be appropriate :)

I like what you did with the front bumper, the front end of pre face-lift model is the hardest part to make it look good, and you've done a terrific job at it, I personally think the vertical-style fog light from Mk6 GTI would look very good if you can incorporate drl in them.

The lines on the 7 series are pretty amazing. However, since there are a lot of bad examples of modified ones out there, its is so easy to make one wrong move to wreck the whole look of the car. Being a flagship model, thats absolutely inexcusable :D

Yah, I think every 7 series in my local area has had the 22" knock off, knock off, chrome bidazzle wheel treatment. I'm hoping to pick up a set of tires for my 7series wheels for cheap for that reason :)

To answer your question. I happened.
How? The first bumper dint exactly come out as i had wanted. It hang too low to a point that i could not lower the car, so i redid it. while i was doing that, i added more stuff to the project
Just Putting it together. Then for trunk upgrades.
Pretty close to my original photoshop of how evisioned this.

Kind of reminds me of my bumper on my gs! But yours looks more well executed!! Besides I didn't start this bumper build. The bone head I got this car off of did but I am having to redo alot of it again. But fits my intercooler and piping fits thru the bumper very well!
Your 7 looks hot! I like it alot!
