#463498whabba's janky but flossy Q45
My first build thread!OK so here's the story.
I'm Kyle and I'm 19, I know what you're thinking... Why is a kid this young into VIP? Shouldn't he be in a 240, drifting and most likely crashing somewhere? Well... The simple answer is that, in my reckoning, drifting will cost more in the long run than VIP will. If I'm wrong call me on it, but before you do, think loooong and hard about it.
So the car. It's a 1997 Q45, my favorite VIP platform. I got it on the 26th of june this year three days after my 19th birthday for a steal, $2000. There's a couple good reasons I would soon realize it was soo inexpensive.
1). It has 231,000 miles on it.
2). According to carfax it'd had NINE owners since '97.
3). It had been in a light accident
4). The front suspension was blown
5). No stereo
Those are what I knew before I bought the car, and that's ALOT.
Here's some pics to entertain you during this looong read

6). Bad wheels

On the way home I found out a few more bad things about the car. I live in the small town of Niceville FL, the car is in the not so small town of Fairhope AL. So I had my very nice mother drive two and a half hours to pick the car up. I... I mean she... Paid the $2000 straight up cash. first problem.
7). No tag... Ok, I brought the one off my old car, no problem.
The next problem presented its self but took awhile to set in, so that one gets a number later.
8). Overheating....
Well this one was pretty bad. After about an hour of driving I hear an odd noise coming from the car. First thought is that it was something to do with the lack of stereo, some sort of interference... idk :pat:. I find out it's overheating when the steam comes... temp gauge is off the scale :pat:. the noise was the steam coming out of the over-flow tank, but I but you already guessed that. I stop off I-10 on the out skirts of Pensacola FL. Holy hell wtf did I just spend $2000 on?!? My mother and her powder blue CR-V and me and my big dumbass Q are on the side on the freaking interstate about to get hit by some retard gawking at us. We take the Honda to walmart an get some coolant, oven mitts, and a funnel. As I'm waiting for the car to cool down, I remember my buddy Erik lives nearby, so I call him praying he isn't working that day, he isn't, so he shows up, the car get filled back up with coolant, but now...
9). Bad starter.
Holy hell wtf did I just spend $2000 on?!? Erik and two of his friends rock the Q45 back and forth for about two or three minutes, the car finally turns over, starts, and we all head back to his house. pull in the drive way, cut the car off and pop the hood to check for leaks. No obvious leaks, so I attemt to start the car again doesn't take as long this time so maybe it's not as bad as I thought. Now my mother and I leave Pensacola an head down I-10 hoping that the over heating was an anomaly... It isn't. We make it almost all the way out of Crestview FL when i notice the temp gauge creepng up.:signdammit:. I pull into the Tom Thumb and pop the hood again... luckily I know some good people in Crestview, and they come to help. Btw it's night-time now. As my friends and i look into the engine bay with a cell phone light, we notice a puddle on the top of the radiator, now I atleast know why it's overheating now. Fill the car BACK up with coolant and my two car convoy are on the way home.
That journey took FOUR hours too long, Holy hell wtf did I just spend $2000 on?!?
The car is home for a coulpe days until I get it up on jack stands to check it out. now...
10). Bad steering rack...
This was pricey. My father is now involved in the story. while attepmting to take the bad unit out to replace it and the starter (which also was pricey), he accidentally rips the wires out of the steering servo...:signdammit:.
here's sme more pics to help you out some more
Some Ebay JP pillows (who knows if they're real or not, but i don't really care.)

The car up on Jack stands (thats my truck next to the Q)

My Ebay JP grille emblem (again I didn't really do any research, so I have no idea if it's real or not)

My buddies Nick and Joey painted my strut bar. (SO HYPHY!)

My dad and I got the starter, radiator, and power steering all in. All I have to wait on is the BC coilovers I bought from OG
