Y33zy build thread

Shortly after parting ways with my '01 GS300 early last year; I went on a manhunt for a black Y33 (Y33zy). I already ruled out the fact of finding another black on black car so I left my options slightly open. With that said, I managed to find an anniversary edition only to watch it slip through my hands:runcoold: so I ended up with '97 base model instead. No worries bc I landed the best tail lights on the Y33. Well it's a black/tan combo, and the body is straight with the exception of some minor dings. The interior needs some love, but I plan to flip it so that's a wash in my books. Although the motor has high miles its sound and still pulls hard off the line (more on that later). For almost a year, this car has honestly sat in my garage while I've pondered over the direction I would go with this build. Even though I dont post much, I keep my eyes on the threads, and some of you have been busy. For me it's never been my intention to do a thread so let me know what your thinking good or bad. 
 
Guess I will address the biggest ? mark with this platform... What suspension? For me, the [B]Ksport Air[/B] system is a gem so I plan to swap the dingy Q suspension with some S-chassis components. If you know me, stance is everything, so I decided to use [B]Leon Hardiritt Bugels[/B] as my centerpiece. I got them 2 years ago for my GS and they seem to fit to the Y33zy well. The body kit is another huge ? mark because it seems like its all been done on the Y33. So I've decided to have a local fabricater spin a design I created (detail pics later) from a few cars I like. Iffy I know but it's been well received so far so Im geeked to see how it unfolds. Anyways the exterior will see a fresh coat of 002 and some subtle touches to add that unique flare to the build. I have a few more parts on hand that I will post up later.

SPL does a nice job packing everything. I wish the delivery was a little faster but the quality makes up for the wait. I have tension rods on the way.

i usually get my stuff in 1-2 days, they must have not been in stock. i see you got the newest update with the reinforced and stamped cleavis. nice!

Thanks, things were suppose to have moved faster but it is what it is. We back on track so I'll keep this update more often. Expect the fab work to start next month.

Update: Decided to go static again, but cups may be in the forecast. I will install the arms, coils and wheels in a couple weeks. Fab work for the body kit is on hold bc their backed up.

Did you get the Tension rods new or used? They look to be the original design with gloss bodies and what not. (newer stuff is flat black krinkle coated) Unless they're going back to the gloss finish. I gotta look into that, I'm an SPL dealer lol

Damicci is one of my good friends here in Tucson.....I have a 98 Touring Silver Crystal Metallic, Bro i just read your build and I've been waiting to throw my wheels on after i get my suspension on and i have the same wheels as you hahaha.....which color combo do you have and sizing?

Awesome.  I feel you, homie.  Seems like my shit is taking forever too.

that's the newest spl stuff. you can tell because they are stamped, and obviously titanium sseries because of the blue lock nuts. looks like the tension rod is the only glossy piece. i assume that's because it's anodized aluminum  and the rest of the stuff is powdercoated steel.

Picked up my tires last week and had them mounted today. 235/35/19 on a 10 and 265/30/19 on an 11.

Update: sorry for the crappy phone pictures. We installed the SPL arms, JIC coilovers and Bugels. Learn the hard way this wasn't a plug and play swap with the s14 tension rods. Also anyone curious about the JICs, they ride smooth and will tuck rim on 19s. My ride height isn't dialed in just yet.

Thanks- Im trying my best. Im totally new to the platform so its been a challenge. Yeah there's a couple listed on CL with what you need. So where are you coming in from? Anyways I got a kit a couple years ago but I'm cutting it up. I'm just using it for the mounting points. I'll reveal more details once I get more pcs.

Thanks homie! I certainly will. Ordered my coilovers and might get some stuff from Trayle. Otherwise, she continues to be a daily workhorse.

At the moment yes, but it's still in the air. Im just waiting to see how it looks once the kit is finished.
