haha, I need to fly out and have lunch with Elvis again. Get that vip chauffeur service from the airport.

It'll definitely be making the rounds with the California show scene about to start up.

I can't understand why everyone feels like it was so hyped up. Maybe I feel different about this because i was some what kept in the loop of what was going on with it. But the hype would have only been built up by yourself!

Adrian, what is it you don't like about this style of fender work? I'm assuming you mean if you''re going to do it why not go balls out and widebody the bish all the way? lol

i think it is because he show all the teaser pics, keeping the wheel face pic hidden etc....and people think because he run the site stancenation people expect more. but in reality while he posted up stance related content from all over daily. this is his first vip build. so i guess this is not much different from those guys in vip101. gotta give him credit for his first time.

the fender is the beginners hammer and dolly without bodyline. you can see it at the bottom if the fender near the chrome trim is where the metal is scretched. and to keep the offset super gangster he went with the easiest route which is downsize the diameter.

a more hardcore one is a cut and weld job, radius etc. but i don't think he is ready for that yet.

I hear ya on the body work and I'm all for pie cuts and stitch welds, but with certain builds it's just not what you're after and some people actually do prefer the pulled and flared look (my car for example) I wouldn't want a boxey wide body or even a bumped out version of what I had. I wanted a pulled/flared fender and that was that haha My y33 on the other hand... well what I want for that is a different story lol

As for the diameter, I don't think that's going to easiest route. It might be easiest route for getting low but fitment wise I don't think it was a concern. Being the wheel ***** I am I hop between 18s and 19s 2-3 times a year and I don't see it as much of a change in fitment ability. (I actually usually end up more aggressive on 19s)

As for the hype/expectations, it met my expectations. But I may see it differently, I know this isn't where the car is going to stop and I know he has a tonne more left to do. But seeing this car from it's stock form 6 months ago to how it sits now, I say he's moved quick and done it well.

Why so defensive?...its not like anyone called the car wack or something..

And a few people agree on the hype so it must have some validity to it, i have my reasons but for the sake of not starting drama i will leave it at that

I'm not being defensive? lol

I converse a lot (almost what I do for a living) so I tend to carry on conversation, then again that is what forums are for no? But read again, I'm not defending anything, I shared my personal opinion on the subject.

I only argue when someone is wrong haha.

I share the same sentiments as Samson when it comes to the fenders. to me the pull look looks incomplete and out of place on all the cars I've seen it on. I've talked personally with Elvis about his fender work before he got it done and I'm sure he's happy with the outcome.

since it is on air you can see the pics if let say he went with 19" with the same width and offset. at fully dump the wheel barrel would sit 0.5" higher than his 18" thus the tire won't come in (from the stretch) soon enough to go inside. even his suspension allow for it to go low he will need to either make the fender wider or to radius. but when i talk about that i ususally mean anything less than 10mm....not sure if others care but for some of my personal projects and customer's one. 10mm is a big difference.

i think the hype is more generated by the followers than the owner. however i can paraphrase him saying something to the effect of "this will not be a standard vip build", which it is. i've seen a lot of comments saying this was a next level build, but i don't see it. i share the same feelings as others about the fender work, but because it is an unfinished look to me. the no radius thing doesn't bother me, the height difference gets ate up by the tire profile generally anyway, and i prefer 18s on most older chassis. it's a different look, not just a measurment. i think the decision to stretch the rear oem bumper was pointless, especially considering how it was done. what it boils down to for me is it's a build with some nice off the shelf (sponsored) parts and some average (at best) custom work. i don't think it's a bad build, but it's by no means spectacular. that's how it seems it is being accepted in the "stance" scene, but i think the hardcore vip guys have a higher standard.

Yea ok, I do see it from that side as well. Which goes back to my initial comment, if you're going to do it, why not go all the way right?

REV-01;486155 wrote:since it is on air you can see the pics if let say he went with 19" with the same width and offset. at fully dump the wheel barrel would sit 0.5" higher than his 18" thus the tire won't come in (from the stretch) soon enough to go inside. even his suspension allow for it to go low he will need to either make the fender wider or to radius. but when i talk about that i ususally mean anything less than 10mm....not sure if others care but for some of my personal projects and customer's one. 10mm is a big difference.

All you gotta do then is pull some more negative ;) haha

But no, I feel ya on that sentiment and I agree the car is much easier to set up for low offsets with smaller diameter wheels. Of course every inch is a degree of camber and every degree is usually 5mm in offset change and even one degree or 5mm does mean a lot in terms of how the wheels will sit. However, in this scenario I don't even know the offsets... So they aren't exactly bragging rights. Sure they're negative but -1 and -20 is quite the range. If it was intentional to go 18s to get the bad ass numbers, then wouldn't you be presenting them?

OG, sorry I think I make this sound a little more fanboy than I really am about it. For instance, the definition of a dope build is Jermaine's car, built top to bottom and flawless in most aspects. I told him that only after seeing the car in person. However my love for Elvis' car relies solely in the fact that this is how I'd do a UCF20 if I were to do one. All taste but I chose to throw it up in here since he's rarely on the site or any other forum for that matter!

BTW, don't take this as arguing, I'm not. ATL got that twisted I'm not bitching or questioning anyones opinions. I'm fully just down to discuss shit! lol

I beat the fender work to death already...I've come to the conclusion that starters will prefer that over more attention to detail. A lot of times, they just want to see the rims they got "fit" as opposed to the minor details that others look for. If they like it, its all that matters. If they ask my opinion, then I will give it....but most dont LOL

Samson, Adrian and OG, you guys and I have talked about this plenty of times...in private.

That is true, with my car if I had tackled it head by radiused fenders the build would have gonna completely different. However I slowly built up my specs and went more and more aggressive over the years. Starting out at 225/35/19x10 +17 with a roll and natural camber is long lost now that I'm at 275/30/19x11.5 +12 lol

Had I know the car was capable of fitting that shit 4 years ago I might have started chopping it up. But now that I'm actually where I am with the car, fenders as pulled as they are, I don't plan to radius. I'm cleaning up the fenders, spraying them and calling it a day.

Your own perception of a car is always different than that of others.

Like that one, dent on your car that nobody sees, but when you look at you car it's the only thing you see lol You'll always be your own worst critique and if you can't pick out one thing that is wrong with your car, you're either lying or don't actually care.

for the first VIP build - it is SUPPPPER !! I remember myself doing it first time: like what the hell I was thinking then LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree about the fenders, they look unfinished, but I didnt pay attention to that before reading this thread. :)
I like the car overall, it looks great. If it had japanees plates, I would believe its from Japan. Cant say that about many US builds.

looked better in pics than it does in video. ride height is meh. you can tell the suspension is setup at low psi by how much lift it gets. waste of otg.

This car with 19's with the same ride height would look a lot better. I like the lowered rear bumper but the Aimgain rear would've looked even nicer. Love how it looks parked but it looks weird with so much poke while driving.

Stance:Nation LS400

was thinking that...saw the rolling clip wow, figured it'd be just slightly higher from parked height.

but too bad it is how the "stance" game is in usa. everybody going with the widest width and the lowest offset # for bragging rights.

i told everyone there is always 2 routes. "one is sit pretty and ride off road" and the other is "flush at ride height and just enough to tuck"

most of the guys go for the first one because is easier to do.

just like the girls sometimes they went a little too far with their body mods and don't flow as a package LOL.

He has a mindset for this build. It is no where near mind blowing. I am pretty sure he has a lot more in his sleeves. But if sponsorships are on my plate, the build would have way more detail. I wouldn't mind checking this out in person. Maybe he'll be around so cal, show season is about to start.

I don't think people in this scene are more so about bragging rights in offsets (although some definitely are) but a lot of people I feel get stuck on lip size. I see a lot of local guys pushing to stuff 5" lips under the fenders just because they want to say they have 5" lips lol personally I'd much rather 4" lips with perfect fitment and clean fenders than 5" lips mangled fenders and the fitment kinda goofy...

Elvis will be changing up wheels soon I'm sure and now he has a feel for what he can fit he'll have a good idea of what to order.

Coming from a body shop with many years of doing prep work and paint. I could have done it "better" but it wasnt the look I was going for. My car is pretty rounded and i think would look strange. If the panels are super flat, then i would agree.. but its all about execution and i think he did a great job. Even guys in japan do it the same way.

prefer the old wheels, but really love the color way, especially the mismatched rotors and calipers
